Each year the Cawley Career Education Center surveys Georgetown University’s graduating class to assess their post-graduation activities. The survey asks, “Which of the following BEST describes the current state of your PRIMARY post-graduation plans?” Survey respondents may then choose one of the following options:

• Employment, full-time• Employment, part-time• Graduate or professional school, full-time• Graduate or professional school, part-time• Seeking employment• Service activity• Military service• Undecided• Other activity

In addition to primary post-graduation activity, we ask graduates who report “Employment,” “Service activity,” or “Military service” for their employer, job title, career field, starting salary, and job location. The information we collect from the Senior Survey provides valuable insight into the wide variety of opportunities available to Georgetown University graduates.

To download the Class of 2013 First Destination Report and reports from previous years, visit http://careercenter.georgetown.edu/seniorsurvey/.

For the purposes of our survey, we define the Class of 2013 as those who completed undergraduate degrees from Georgetown College, the McDonough School of Business, the Walsh School of Foreign Service, and the School of Nursing and Health Studies in December 2012, May 2013, and August 2013.

The primary means by which we collected information from members of the Class of 2013 was our online survey instrument. We invited members of the Class of 2013 by e-mail to take the survey beginning in April 2013 and continued to send e-mails to those who had not completed the survey to ask them to complete the survey until we closed the survey on December 2013. Graduates who had already responded were invited to update their previous responses if their post-graduation plans had changed.

In addition to these efforts, two of Georgetown’s undergraduate schools also asked members of the Class of 2013 about their post-graduation plans and released their findings in the books distributed at Tropaia exercises before graduation. We collected this information to augment our data. Finally, we gathered information reported to us by employers who hired 2013 graduates. By combining data from all of these sources, we were able to account for the post-graduation activities of 66 percent of 2013 graduates.
