Neillsville Lights Milk Challenge a Success

The Neillsville Lights 4-H club accepted the milk challenge! In February the club had a penny war at or their monthly club meeting. The officer that had the least amount of pennies in their jar, would dress up as a cow for one hour at the IGA to col-lect donations for the milk voucher fund-raiser. We collected $67.27 in pennies! And our club secretary, Addison Anderson- Ruskin, had the least number of pennies, so on Friday, March 8 she dressed in the cow costume at the IGA. With the help of club members, Ali & Braelyn Anding, and Claiton Anderson Ruskin, she greet-ed customers at the IGA for one hour. Due to the graciousness of our community another $405.48 was collected. Our club will be purchasing $472.75 worth of milk vouchers (208 gallons) from Hansen's IGA to donate to the Clark County Area Food Pantry & Resource Center in Neillsville.

Financial Report: Joan Buchholz reviewed the financial reports for February. The ending balance as of 3/9/19 was $47,502.86 which includes $10,615.01 of self-supporting project balances. No corrections were noted. Kyle Johnson moved to approve. Jennie Whitmire seconded, and the motion carried. It was noted that $182.04 was spent on advertising for the Drama/Music/Speaking Festival. Old Business: Discussion was held regarding ways that the 4-H could fundraise for the Fairgrounds Building Project, including “rounding up”

at the food stand, a donation jar at the food stand, or person dressed up as a cow requesting donations during the Kids Rodeo. Background noise continues to be an issue during the Drama/Music/Speaking Festival. Discussed possible change of venue

or exploring ways to enhance sound on stage with portable speaker system. Kyle Johnson moved that the Leaders Federation will provide financial assistance per the State Fair Reimbursement Guide

only to groups that are selected at the Drama/Music/Speaking Festival by judges for State Fair performance eligibility. Jennie Whitmire seconded the motion and it carried.

Clubs are allowed to submit rosters for volleyball and softball that include every member of their club whether every member plans to play or not.

Chris has been researching for possible dodgeball tournament and family paintball event. Farm Tech Days will be in Clark County in 2022. We need to begin thinking about how we might contribute to the youth

activity space at that event. Committee Reports: Fair Board—Gilbert Brown Show Saturday evening on the grandstand; set up for Livestock Auction will be Saturday morning.
