Approximately 390 people attended the Crosstown Construction Open House. The team has received great feedback from the meeting. The project website has been updated with all of the materials from the meeting. The project team is working with the City to respond to the comments left at the meeting and mailed to the Project PIO.

EVENTS. Papico Construction has completed resurfacing the 14 tennis/pickle-ball courts at Whispering Pines Park.

Garland/DBS, Inc., will be starting a roof restoration project at Minsky Gym on March 15. The estimated completion date is approxi-mately April 5, 2017, weather permitting.

District 4.The Saints Golf Course staff is working with Communications to add drone video flyover footage of each hole to offer a truly unique per-spective of the course for all of the residents that visit our website.

FY 2016-2017 Park Improvement Project for Sandhill Crane Park, which is provided for via CDBG funding, has been placed on the City Council agenda for approval at the March 27, 2017 meeting. miscellaneous.Miscellaneous Park Improvement Projects for Woodstork Trail, Elks Park, Whitmore Park, Kiwanis Park, River Place Park, Charles E. Staff Attorney Ella Gilbert and Utility Systems Senior Assistant Director Brad Macek accompanied Representative Gayle Harrell who presented the project in Tallahassee before the committee on March 15.

James E. Anderson (JEA) Lab produced nearly double the average of analytical results in February January – 863 results produced; February – 1,400 results produced

Increase due to 400 annual injection well tests conducted at our water and wastewater treatment facilities. The 400 additional tests check for things like metals, inorganics, radiologicals, herbicides and pesticides, to name a few, in the injection wells.

JEA Lab and Public Works facilitated the Microbial Source Tracking Study in February to research and identify sources of microbial bacteria in the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. JEA Lab runs fecal coliform analyses in-house JEA Lab organizes the remaining samples and sends them to outside labs for testing The next phase is set for March, and the final phase is set for August JEA Lab and Public Works work in partnership with the Department of Environmental Protection, St. Lucie County Health Department and St. Lucie County.

Utility customers’ use of new automated phone payment system increased by more than 350% since January

January – 515 automated phone system payments; February – 2,402 automated phone system payments

Customer Service Representatives assisted 1,117 customers make payments over-the-phone in January and only 196 customers in February due to the increase in usage of the new automated phone payment system. The new automated phone system went live on Jan 18.

McCarty Ranch Extension: First phase of approval of Water Quality Restoration/Storage Project Area 2 construction approved by House Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee and will con-tinue on to the Appropriations Committee for consideration.

NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES.Utility Box Beautification Project Update – twenty-three (23) boxes have been wrapped, and designs for twenty-nine (29) more are being considered and selected. The initial scope of work was limited to wrapping the boxes. City staff expanded the project scope to include pressure washing and painting of the concrete bases as well. A-19 Control Structure Rehabilitation and Automation

(District 3)This water control structure is located

west of the Turnpike and east of Jane Ct. A coffer dam has been constructed and the metal components of the structure

are being prepped for sandblasting and painting.

Bus Shelters (Districts 1, 2 & 3)

St. Lucie County will be construct-ing five bus shelters within the City

of Port St Lucie’s City limits. The shelters will be like the recently

completed US 1 Bus Shelters. Per the 2015 interlocal agreement be-

tween the County and City, the five bus shelters will be maintained by St. Lucie County. Construction is

anticipated to begin within the next few weeks at following locations:

A. Sportsman Park: North side of Prima Vista Boulevard side of Ravenswood LaneB. Ravenswood Pool: WestC. Cashmere Corners: West side of Cash-mere BoulevardD. Tradition Field: North side of Universi-ty BoulevardE. Loco Joe’s: East side of Port St Lucie Boulevard.

Microbiological Source Tracking Study - ALL DistrictsThe purpose of the study is to identify the sources of bacteria found in the North Fork of the St Lucie River. City staff, County staff, St Lucie County Health Department, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protec-tion are working together to gather the water samples and then analyze the results. Water samples from seven riv-er locations and ten locations within canals located within the limits of the City as well as six locations within the County have/are being collected in the months of June, July August, February, March, April, and May. The second phase which will analyze the samples and determine areas that require fur-ther investigation.

Rosser Blvd. Pavement Reconstruction and Sidewalk

(District 3) This project includes about 2.1 miles

of pavement reconstruction from Apricot Rd. to just south of Delos

Ave. and about one mile of side-walk extending from the existing

sidewalk at Crawford Ave. to Open View Dr. The City Council reviewed

the construction contract at the March 13th City Council meeting and determined that it was in the

best interest of the City to rebid the project. Procurement anticipates

that the rebid will be issued the week of March 20th.

Maintaining Roadways in the City is a daily occurrence. Photos show restriping work

A Hot Spot was created after four unlocked vehicles were broken into and loose change was stolen in the vicinity of S.W. College Park Road February 12-22.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department initiated a Series due to six incidents of smash and grab auto burglaries that have occurred in parking lots throughout the City from March 1-13, 2017 that happened in the evening hours. Items stolen include laptops, jewelry, a purse with wallet, clothing, and cash.

A Series was created after there were six incidents of residential burglaries that occurred throughout the City from March 2-13, 2017 during the daytime hours. The primary item stolen is jewelry and cash.

A Hot Spot was started due to five incidents of auto and residential burglaries in the vicinity of SE Quay Street that occurred in the overnight hours of March 12, 2017.

An off-duty Palm Beach Sheriff Deputy on his way home from work observed three juvenile males in a vehicle committing an auto burglary in front of a home on S.W. Cornelia Street. The males fled the scene in vacant lots between S.W. Port St. Lucie Bou-levard and Briggs Street and the deputy called 911. Officers located the suspects and they were arrested.

A parent of a student at a Christin Academy in St. Lucie West reported that her child was battered by a school teacher at that school after the teacher punched the male in his genitals causing him to fall to the floor. The State Attorney’s Office refused to issue warrants against the teacher stating he was acting as a parent to control the child at school and due to no defined injury to the child it did not consti-tute battery or child abuse.

On March 15, 2017, The Special Investigations Division arrested a thirty year-old male after a search warrant was served at home on S.W. Lucero Drive. Items located were Crack Cocaine, Cannabis, drug parapher-nalia, Alprazolam, 456 grams of Cocaine powder, and $204 in cash.
