When only God canWhen only God canWhen only God canWhen only God canToday, in the Gospel, we hear about an i

man who had a very sad prob-lem. His little girl was very sick. Eventhough she was only 12 years old, she was

    even close to dying!

The man was a ruler in the synagogue,

which meant that he had a lot of power

there. But that power didnt help him with

his awful problem. He found Jesus, and he

asked him to help his little girl.

Everyone was very sad that the girl was

sick, and Jesus felt sorry for them. He

went to visit the girl, but on the way, his disciples saidalready died. But Jesus knew that He had power from

it wasnt too late, and so He visited her anyway. He to

get up, and she did! Jesus had saved her.

Sometimes we might have problems too that we don

solve. Lets always remember to turn to God first, jus

tant man did in the story today. Gods power is greate

bodys power. He can help us solve all our problems!

HOW TO BE A GOOD FRSt. Nestor and St. Demetr

Yesterday was the nameday of a

great saint, and today is the name-

day of his good friend. Long ago, in

the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, Chris-

tians were not allowed to be Christians.

Well, they could be Christians, but they had

to do it in secret or they could be hurt or

    killed.

St. Demetrios was a Christian soldier. He was

sent to prison because he wouldnt worship

idols. He said he would only worship ourone, true God the same God that you and

I worship! The general, who was in charge

of that whole land, held a cruel game some-

times he would send Christians into a stadium to fight a h

    man named Lyaeus.

Another Christian, named Nestor, decided to fight him, even t
