Many will rejoice at his bir th! “Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Mark 10:4 Sunday, June 22, 2014 Volume 2, Issue 25 Follow Me! Follow Me! Follow Me! Follow Me! Have you ever been very busy at something—maybe building something  with Legos, maybe writing a letter. Then, all of a sudden, your mother or father says, “It’s time for dinner!” or “We have to leave right now!” It’s hard to stop what we’re doing and start something else. But in today’s Gospel reading, we hear about how Christ called His first disciples. These men  were very busy, working as fishermen. Then, all of a sudden, Jesus comes to them and says, “Follow me!” It would have been hard to put down what they were doing. But they did! The Bible says, “Immediately they left their nets and fol- lowed Him.” Now let’s say you are doing something you really like to do. All of a sudden, you might have a good thought like, “I could read my Bible.” Or “I could say my prayers.” Or “I could see if my parents need help with something.” Now you might go right back to what you are doing. But you could  try to be like the disci- ples. “Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.” God sometimes gives us these good ideas. Can you try to stop what you’re doing sometimes and follow Him? Christ calls the disciples Christ calls the disciples Christ calls the disciples Christ calls the disciples

A GREAT BIRTHDAY SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

When you were born, your parents probably wondered what you would be like, what you would do, what you wouldbe interested in, maybe

whether you’d be famoussomeday. They probably still

wonder these things!

When Saint John the Baptist was born, his parents, Elizabethrias, knew their son would be great. How did they know thisangel of the Lord told them so! The angel told Zacharias somfore the saint was born. “And you will have joy and gladness

will rejoice at his birth; for he will be great before the Lord,”

Saint John the Baptist was Jesus’s cousin. He came before Je

everybody to expect somebody to save them (a savior). He toget ready for the savior to come. He told them to repent—to were sorry for the wrong things they did.

Saint John is such an important saint for us that we have six namPlus, every Tuesday of every week is set aside to pray to Saint Joday, we celebrate his birthday, and we can “rejoice at his birth”!

We celebrate the birth of St. John on Tuesday, June 24th.
