FEB-APR 2020 C ITY OF R EEDLEY Changes to City Utility Bill In February 2020, Reedley utility customers will see a new look to their City Utility Account Statement. The new statement format will provide more information such as a graph of monthly water usage, detailed meter information, and revised payment due dates. Changes to the City’s utility billing policies were necessary for compliance with California State Senate Bill 998, Discontinua- tion of Residential Water Service, known as the Water Shutoff Protection Act, which goes in effect February 1, 2020. All City utility bills are now due by the 6th of the month instead of the 15th. However, late fees will still not apply until an account is more than 60 days past due from the billing date. A copy of the City’s complete billing and payment policy may be obtained in person from City Hall 845 “G” Street, Reedley, CA 93654 or from the City’s website at www.reedley.ca.gov . If you have any questions, please call (559) 637-4200 extension 218, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:45 pm. Measure B will be on the March 3, 2020 ballot for Reedley residents to vote either for (Yes) or against (No) a pro- posed ¾ cent sales tax on taxable items purchased within Reedley city limits excluding most household expenditures like groceries, utilities, healthcare and prescription medication. Measure B will generate dedicated, local funds for public safety, streets maintenance, and parks. The City is facing increases in oper- ating costs including contracted services, liability insurance and per- sonnel. The City has taken a number of actions to reduce costs while trying to maintain the quality of service to the community. Even with these steps and a stable economy, Reedley’s General Fund faces a budget deficit that is expected to expand to almost $2 million by 2024. Basic City-funded services such as emergency response services and maintenance of streets and roads may be impacted in the near future if no new, locally controlled funding source is provided. Meas- ure B would provide locally controlled funding to help the City main- tain many existing City services for the community. FEB—APR 2019

FEB-APR 2020

C ITY OF REEDLEY

www.reedley.ca.gov.
