I t has been 80 years since my brother Hares and I left our beloved homeland of Lebanon. Back then, our minds and souls were full of projects, hopes and even fears. We were departing for an unknown place, the existence of which was

known to us only through newspapers and history books.

Now, having spent 75 years of my life in this country which has become my second home, I am grateful to Providence and to the Creator for having guided immigrants like ourselves to this wonderful land. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to be surrounded by so many great Colombians who have accompanied us in the search and realization of our dreams and who have nurtured us with the level of commitment and passion that can only be found in Colombia.

Today, our products travel across the roads of all fi ve continents and are kept in mo-tion by the responsible work, constant learning and enterprising mentality of all our suppliers, distributors and clients. To them, our most cherished partners, I extend my deepest expression of gratitude.

We now fi nd ourselves in a globalized and interactive world that leads us to be ever more competitive, to embark on new commercial ventures, to conquer new mar-kets and to deal with the diffi culties that come along day after day. Understanding these challenges provides us with a unique opportunity to perform our duties even better each time and is the key to future success.

ocalocalT his is the story of two brothers who left Lebanon in the 1930’s and decided to make Colombia their new home, the

home of their families and the starting point for a new future. It is the tale of a journey across three continents and many cities and harbors of Asia, Europe and the American continent. The voyage includes endless tra-vels across oceans, mountain ranges and tro-pical forests, prior to their arrival in a small town in the Northern part of Colombia.

In 1932 Mr. Chaid Neme settled in Ocaña, Norte de Santander, and opened a small shop selling fabrics and hats. The business slowly grew into a general store, supplying a wide variety of miscellaneous items. In 1937, Chaid and his brother Hares decided to take advantage of the surge in mining exploration and expand the company by going into the supply of machinery parts. In the 1940’s they again decided to broaden the company’s horizons, this time by expanding into the supply of automobile parts, taking advantage of the boom in the automotive industry.

Ten years later, the Neme brothers make the decision to embark on yet another expansion plan, this time into the local manufacture of spare parts. Later on, they take advantage of the beginning of the local automobile assembly industry and position their factory as an original equipment supplier for the new cars, foreseeing the future importance of auto part production and sales for the Colombian economy.

In 1976 they decide to enter the sphere of international business and begin to export spare parts to different parts of the world. Today, the companies of the Neme Organization export their products to 32 countries in North and South America, Europe, North Africa and Asia.

In the early 1980’s, Hares’ son Nayib Neme joins the company. As a result of the generational transition, the organization witnesses the introduction of new concepts in modern and effective management, with the creation of the NH holding company. This organizational model is still in place today.

In 1993, in response to the challenges of globalization with its various resulting bilateral and regional trading agreements, the Organization extends its facilities into the Andean market and takes its fi rst steps with investments in Ecuador and Venezuela, thereby consolidating strategic alliances in the region. In 2005 the stage was set for many new prospects in Latin American, European and Far-Eastern markets.
