HYDRANGEA PANICULATA DIAMANT ROUGEWhen they first appear, the petal-like sepals are white, but they soon start to change colour, first to pink and then a deeper shade of rich raspberry red. EDGEWORTHIA CHRYSANTHA (Paper Bush) The flowers were used in Japan to make banknote paper, this gorgeous plant is most highly prized for its flowers, which ap-pear in clusters on the tips of the bare stems, and open in late winter. Its crowning glory is the clusters of fragrant, tubular yellow flowers, borne in spherical heads 1.5in to 2in across and covered in silky white hairs that make them look frosted when in bud. LOGANBERRY A cross between a raspberry and blackberry, the loganberry is generally slightly longer than a raspberry with a juicier and sharper flavour. Berries should be allowed to darken to a deep purple colour before picking to obtain the best flavoured fruit. Loganberry plants are sturdy and more dis-ease and frost resistant than many other berry varieties and as berries of varying maturity may grow on a single plant, it will usually produce fruit throughout August and September .
