Welcome to CAS. CAS will allow you to:

Creating an Account:

To create an account Log in to CAS at http://cas.indstate.edu

Click on Create Account

Select Indiana, Indiana State University, and NEXT

Fill in all information indicated with an *

On subsequent visits, fill in the Member Login with your user ID, School ID (ISU), and password.

Major Functions:

ProgramsSelect this to get information about what programs the institution offers.

To learn requirements of a particular program or major.

To learn the sorts of things you would get from a printed or web-based academic program catalog.

Click linked text next to “Program Information” at the top of the Planning Guide to open the department website.

Course Equivalencies

Select this to view course equivalencies between colleges. You can choose to Browse by School or Search by Course.

Browse by School

If you browse by school: choose one target (receiving) and up to five source (sending) institutions.

Follow the instructions in CAS to Search by School Name or Region/State.

Select your schools and click on GO

Click on Create Guide to show course equivalencies of up to five schools to Indiana State University

Search by Course

If you search by course, you may see all transfer courses from a specific school or search for one individual course.

Type in the course from ISU to see what equivalencies are available at the other institution. Note: There is an abbreviation link to help you with the department abbreviations at ISU.

Select the school the course will transfer from and click on FIND

My Courses

Select to create, update, or view your course history. You may store any courses you have already completed or any you plan to complete in My Courses. Courses can be deleted easily (so you can do lots of “what if?” scenarios).

Click Add a Course

Make sure that the state you are transferring from is selected.

Select the college/university from which you have courses by moving through the list.

Click “Select from Course

Catalog” to access courses from pull-down menus (available for most institutions).

If available, Use “Request

Import” to download the student transcript automatically (not available for all institutions).

The “Add Course Manually” option lets you enter courses by typing into blank spaces, but it is not recommended because the program will not be likely to correctly match the course to the articulation tables. If you choose this option, it is best to input your courses from an unofficial transcript or from a grade report.

Select from Course Catalog

Using pull-down menus, select the year, term and course department.

Fill in the correct grade; edit the credit hours if necessary. The default grade will be A, and the default number of hours is generally set to the standard number for the course. You may add more than one course taken in the same department during the same year and term.

Check the Add box.

Click on the Add Courses button.

Either repeat the process adding additional courses with different years, terms, and or departments.

Clicking on the Add Courses button will save all of your courses.

Proofread your course history by going to View My Courses. Use the clickable buttons to edit or delete entries. This is especially useful if you are creating “what-if” scenarios—since it’s so easy to delete courses, you can enter anticipated work, run a Transfer Planning Guide to see what it would do for you, then delete the classes from your history.

Add Course Manually

Click on “Add Courses Manually” under My Courses

Fill out all of the fields indicated with an *

Click on Add Course to save

Repeat as many times as needed

Proof your input through View My Courses

Transfer Planning This is likely the most useful CAS function for students planning to transfer.ISU students can use it, too, to plan coursework at other institutions (e.g., picking up a course at a community college over the summer).This can be used to run unofficial degree audit for planning.The Transfer Planning Guide lists all the requirements for the selected degree. It indicates which, if any, requirements are met and which remain to be completed.

Click “Transfer Planning” and “Create Planning Guides.”

Select Indiana and Indiana State University as the University you are interested in attending. Click “Select Institution.”

Three quick steps take you to a specific degree. o First, click on the academic

area/college o Second, select the program

you are interested in (e.g. BA, BS, etc..)

o Third, select the program in which you are interested.

Planning Guides Choose the appropriate catalog year and

term. The default is the current year. There are two types of Planning Guides

you can choose from: “Regular Planning Guide”and “Planning Guide with equivalencies”o By clicking “Request a Planning Guide”,

you will get a regular degree audit that displays courses that meet the program you selected at ISU. The courses you have completed will be evaluated and applied to degree requirements. Courses that will complete additional requirements are displayed in terms of ISU.

o The Guide with the most information can be created by clicking “Request a Planning Guide with equivalencies,” then selecting a sending institution. This generates output with the same information as a regular Planning Guide, with the addition of green text which tells you what courses at the selected source institution would fulfill outstanding requirements. Select a year and a term for cross reference. All planning guides are run with the most

recent curriculum for the major/program you selected.

Planning Guides (Continued)

Whether you requested a regular planning guide or a guide with cross reference, your next screen will show you the details of your request for verification. If the indicated stipulations are correct, click “submit.”

Planning Guides (Continued)When you have submitted the request for your planning guide, a summary screen of all the guides you have requested and their status is shown.

You will likely see the most recent request with the word “pending” beside it.

Wait a minute and the status in the View column will change to . .

If you still see “pending,” click on the Refresh button.

When the status icon changes to your Guide is ready to view.

You may log out after looking at the Guide and return later—it will be saved in your account. You may request another Guide, which you would likely do if you want to learn about a different degree or if you change your course history. You may

delete any Guides at any time by clicking on the delete check box and the delete button.

This is an example of a page from a Planning Guide. Courses that meet requirements and apply toward an ISU degree appear in light blue when viewed online. You may click on any highlighted ISU course for a detailed description.

My Profile My Profile allows you to fill in additional information commonly requested on college or university

applications. It may be convenient to save a completed form here for filling out a number of applications later.

Additionally, you may change your password at any time by inputting your original password, your new password, and confirming your new password.

School Information Links or Help! The School Information Links

button under Transfer Planning gives you easy access to CAS institutions’ web pages. For example, you can find Admissions and online application forms for many institutions.

When you click “Help” in the information bar at the top of each page, another Internet window will open. The CAS window will not close, so once you are done with the help window and close it, you will still be in CAS. “Help” allows you to get detailed information on all the CAS features.

Log Out Remember to log out when you are finished.
