Engineering Disciplines.Electrical Engineers Work with electricity, electromagnetic fields, and light
Design products such as cell phones, computers,
antennas, televisions, and appliances
Design power generation and distribution systems
Mechanical Engineers Work with machines and systems that
involve the production and use of heat
Design cars, heating and air conditioning systems,
and manufacturing systems
Ford Explorer
Engineering DisciplinesBiomedical Engineers Work with the mechanical and chemical
properties of the human body
Design prosthetic devices and medical diagnostic systems
Civil Engineers Work with physics and materials
Design buildings, roads, bridges, storm water systems
Worlds tallest building: BURJ KHALIFA IN DUBAI, UAE
Engineering Disciplines(contd.)Chemical Engineers Work with physics, chemistry and biology
Design medicines, fertilizers, semiconductors, food Additives (such as flavorings)
Aerospace Engineers Work with aerodynamics, propulsion and navigation
Design aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, missiles, and rockets
Engineering Disciplines(contd.)Computer EngineersComputer engineers embed computers in other machines and systems, build
networks to transfer data, and develop ways to make computers, faster, smaller, and more capable. Software Engineers
1.Software engineering is the study and an application of engineering to the
design, development, and maintenance of software.
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineers are part of your every day life,
Designing the spoon you used to eat breakfast,Your breakfasts packaging,The chair youre sitting on,
Even your PEN.VIRTUALLY EVERY OBJECT YOU SEE AROUND YOU
HAS PASSED THROUGH THE HANDS OF A MECHANICAL ENGINEER!
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering is the most applicable form of engineering because you can work in any industry.
Mechanical Engineers are Creative
Analytic and Mathematical
Famous Mechanical Engineers1. Ayodele Awojobi
Ayodele Awojobi was gifted in mathematics and the
sciences, and also developed a particular interest in
the arts, becoming a member of the school's literary
and debating society
He researched further with motor engines and was able to re-design a vehicle so
that it was able to move in both forward and backward directions with all four pre-
existing gears. This gave the hybrid vehicle, which he named Autonov 1, the ability to achieve its highest speeds in a moment, in the normal reverse direction
Famous Mechanical Engineers2. Henry Ford ( Founder of Ford Motor Company)
In 1901, C. Harold Wills supported Ford to design
and built a 26-horsepower automobile. With the
ultra success of this automobile, Murphy and
other stockholders in the Detroit Automobile
Company came together to form the Henry Ford Company on November 30, 1901.
Famous Mechanical Engineers3. James Watt
He learned writing, arithmetic and geometry in his
childhood along with the craft of instrument making,
which he later pursued as a career to achieve great
heights.
Famous Mechanical Engineers4. Nikola Tesla
He was a child prodigy and possessed an eidetic memory
with a futuristic vision for the mankind which is evident
from most of his discoveries and researches
What does it take to be an engineer? You dont have to be a genius to be an Engineer
People who become Engineers:
Are CURIOUS about how things workSolve interesting life problemsDesign and experimentCalculate using math and scienceWork with others as a team
How do you prepare to become an engineer?
