It is such an honor for me to stand here today and represent VATM, Iwould like express our sincere appreciation to CANSO and Japan CivilAviation Bureau for letting me a chance to speak at this section forintroducing our self as a new member of CANSO.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) is a uniqueprovider for air navigation services in Vietnam.

VATM is belonging to the Ministry of Transport and has been directed aswell as supervised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) in thefield of air navigation services.

VATM’s main functions and responsibilities are to provide air navigationservices including ATS, CNS, AIS, MET and SAR. for aircrafts operating atairports nation-wide and over Vietnam FIRs.

Beside, VATM has also extended its activities in other ANS related worksuch as consulting, design, execution, supervision, repair, maintenance,installation of ANS facilities; producing aeronauticalcomponents/materials; providing flight check service of navigation aids,etc. - CANSO APAC 2015 -

- At present, VATM has nearly 3 thousand employees of which there areabout 500 air traffic controllers and 800 technicians.

- In recent years, the air traffic movement in 2014 is about 550 thousandflights per year of which 45% are landing/takeoff and 55% are over flights.The annual average increase of the air traffic is about 7%.

international ATS routes and 24 domestic ATS

routes, at 07 international airports

and 14 domestic airports are provided ANS by 2 ACCs, 3 APPs and 21

TWRs- CANSO APAC 2015 -

Regarding CNS, radar and VHF communication services cover almost every corner of our Area of Responsibility.

In 2014, VATM has completed investment of 10 ADS-B ground stations.

• To meet with the increasingdemands put forth by airoperations and to ensure thehighest level of safety, in recentyears VATM has been focusingits investment on upgradingtechnical infrastructure.

- CANSO APAC 2015 -

Currently, VATM continues to give solutions to enhancethrough-out capacity of ATS system such as:- The application of one-way ATS route /parallel ATS routesin the North - South axis to increase the capacity to handleheavy traffic on this track;- In cooperation with Hong Kong and Singapore ACC toimplement flow management in some ATS routes in the EastSea;- Application of PBN flight procedures at several airports.

Besides, VATM continues implementing the SafetyManagement System (SMS), updating the set of safetyindicators in the air navigation services provision.

- CANSO APAC 2015 -

In 2014, VATM have put into operation the new Ha Noi ATCC with new ATM systems integrated monitoring features of PSR/SSR/SMR/ADS-B, having functions of AMAND/DMAN, AIDC connected over the AMHS network.

We have completed new technical equipment/facilities for Search and Rescue centers, upgrading the World Area Forecast System and the Second Generation SADIS satellite broadcast (WAFS/SADIS 2G). Electronic Terrain and Obstacle Database (eTOD) in the roadmap of transition from AIS to AIM…

• With the constant objectives: to ensure the safety, regularityand efficiency in flight operations and to enhance customer-oriented services, we are all well aware that by joiningCANSO family, our systems wiill be intergrated with theother systems in the region and we can exploit alladvantages of the systems and provide better services to theairspace users. By doing this, each provider can contributeits strong parts and learn how to work with one another inorder to gain positive results and obtain best outcomes.

• VATM wish to cooperate with other partners for thedevelopment of ANS sector in the Region. We stronglybelieve that in the family of CANSO, we can share bestpractice and collaborate with others aiming at the safety andsmoothly of air traffic operation in the region and the world.

We arepleased to invite allCANSO members toattend this event andlooking forward towelcome you all in HaNoi.
