One Way You Can Give to Calvary If you have been thinking about making a gift of stocks, etc. to Calvary as a year-end donation, you can do so and a. avoid all broker commissions/fees, b. avoid all capital gains taxes, c. take the full market value of the security as a 2017 tax

donation (regardless of what you originally paid), d. possibly satisfy your 2017 Required Minimum Distribution

(RMD) if you are over age 70½, and, e. benefit Calvary with the full market value. f. You may also fulfill some/all of your 2018 pledge and

record it as a 2017 deduction. For further information, contact Ted Soto at the Virginia United Methodist Foundation at 804-521-1122, the Calvary UMC Office at 703-892-5185 or [email protected], or Natalie Houghtby-Haddon, Finance Chair, at 202-297-9460 or [email protected].

Boxed Set of Offering Envelopes Because the number was so small to place a full order for 2018, the church office can provide you with a set of labeled envelopes. Please contact Molly at [email protected] or 703-892-5185. Thank you.

Scenes from Christmas Eve There were over 500 people in worship on Christmas Eve! Last week’s newsletter had several photos that included the animals that came to visit on Christmas Eve. This week we share a few more, and other photos as well.

They include the live Nativity, listening to and preparing to share the word, sharing the light of Christ, and the decorated sanctuary as people begin to gather for evening worship.

Today’s e-mail: The power of a praying wife is not a means of getting control over your husband…In fact, it is quite the opposite. It’s laying down all claim to power in and of yourself, and relying on God’s power to transform you, your husband, your circumstances and your marriage. To join, send your e-mail to Beth Posey at [email protected]
