CROXTON CHURCH NEWS
The Harvest Festival service has been arranged for Sunday 25th September at
6.30pm followed by a party in the Church.
Please keep this date free - it is a good time for the village to get together and will
also be the chance for us all to say goodbye and thank you to Rector Bob Baker
who is retiring.
In the Autumn Matthew Findlay will be carrying out some work on the
Churchyard trees and bushes so please keep an eye out for dates and times when
volunteers will be needed to help clear away the trimmings!
BT Telephone Kiosk -The ‘K6’ Series Kiosk
The iconic Croxton telephone box is now under the proud ownership of the Parish Council and it has already been rubbed down and repainting may be
complete by the time you read this !! For the technical minded, K6 kiosks are the familiar red cast iron structures
that have been operational since the 1930's. The kiosks are constructed from a number of individual castings made from cast iron, interconnected by mild steel threaded fixings. The door comprises of a wooden framework with a
cast iron or aluminium glazing frame. We would welcome suggestions for its possible future use. Ideas so far
include a mini Croxton museum and/or a book swap.

Stay Active - Croxton
The S.A.C. Group has been closed for a summer break from 22nd July, and will reopen again on Friday August 12th.
Hopefully everyone has had a good summer holiday.
We had a wonderful S.A.C. Get together at the Norfolk Terrier for our Summer Lunch
As normal the Carvery was great. Unfortunately a couple of members missed out.
For more information contact Joy on 01842-820833.
Croxton Village Defibrillator
As reported in the last Newsletter, following approaches by residents and
further investigation by the Parish Council it was decided to provide a unit
for Croxton village.
We are pleased to report that we have now obtained sufficient funding
thanks to Croxton S.A.C., Cynthia Della Hoy’s Croxton Charity, a gener-
ous resident, and the Parish Council, which will allow us to proceed with
purchasing a unit, and also to arrange some additional separate First Aid
training sessions. More information will be circulated as available.

Thetford Open Gardens (TOG)
Thank you to our intrepid Croxton gardeners whose efforts raised nearly £900 towards this year's Open Gardens. The TOG committee set themselves an ambitious target of £10,000 and with the extra activities
such as concerts, pop-up gardens and a Safari dinner the latest figure is over £11,000. It is always best to go out on a high and with increasing commitments elsewhere, Jen and I have decided to resign from the
committee. I thank all those who have opened their gardens over the last 5 years and you can now relax knowing I will no longer pester you. Brian Farrell

Croxton, Brettenham & Kilverstone Joint Neighbourhood Plan
Part of the process of developing our Joint Neighbourhood Plan is a requirement to establish whether Breckland Council require a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to be undertaken as part of the JNP. This requires Breckland Council to contact the statutory Environmental bodies - Historic England, Environment Agency, and Natural England – in order to gain their views on whether a formal Strategic
Environmental Assessment (SEA) will be required.
BDC has received the responses from Natural England and has decided that an SEA will be required. We will be developing a number of policies based on the results from residents answers and
comments to the earlier questionnaire which will resolve requirements in this respect. .
We anticipate having informal initial discussions/consultation with residents as these policies and the Joint Neighbourhood Plan are developed.
