Living in Communion
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to re-ceive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment re-ceive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen
A Perfect Act of Contrition
Father of mercy, like the prodigal son I return to you and say:
"I have sinned against you and am no longer worthy to be
called your child." Christ Jesus, Savior of the world, I pray with
the repentant thief to whom you promised Paradise: "Lord,
remember me in your kingdom." Holy Spirit, fountain of love,
I call on you with trust: "Purify my heart, and help me to walk
as a child of light. "

Sunday Collection
Sunday, January 24th $37,043.74
St. Albert parishioners are remarkably
generous. Sharing a portion of our
income with the Church is a sign that
everything belongs to God and we
dedicate our “first fruits” to the work
of the Kingdom of Christ. Thank you
so much for your faith and generosity.

are and everything else, individually and in general, to the unfailing
and totally reliable providence of God, in silence and in peace, and
he will work for you.”
St. Albert the Great
Baptism Classes
Baptism classes will now be done us-
ing Zoom (video conferencing) at this
time. If you would like to participate
please email Deacon Ted at
[email protected] to sign up
for a virtual class. The next class will
be on Sunday, April 25th. Any ques-
tions, please call the parish office at
440-237-6760.
Dear St. Albert Family,
On the Fourth Sunday of the Year, and the last day of
January, the scriptures remind us of our call to be prophetic in
our witness for the Gospel. Like Jesus, we can speak an au-
thoritative word of the love of God to a world that needs noth-
ing more than that. To build faith in our hearts and to clarify
our faithful thoughts in our minds, we can speak with authority
about the “love that God has for us” - and that will be an im-
pressive witness to others.
We are approaching the Lenten Season of 2021. Our
theme, “Building Faith through Prayer”, is a communal reflec-
tion upon the gift and the call to pray in our Catholic tradi-
tion. We will read together the book “A Quiet Place”, we will
study the book together in Zoom Book Club, and we will gather
in electronic small groups for Church@Home 2021. You can
do all of it by registering online or calling the parish office.
Our Building Faith Project continues to move toward a
June 15th completion date. As you can see, the welcoming
doorway of the Parish Life Center is taking shape and it an-
nounces “welcome” to all people to the love of God
here. Please pray for the successful completion of the work,
please pray for the success of our capital campaign follow up
process, and please look forward to a new day, coming very
soon, when we can all gather and celebrate the love of God at
St. Albert the Great!
Please check the bulletin for the Lenten schedule of
masses, ashes distribution, stations of the cross, confessions and
so much more. Please share the great on-line ministry of our
parish with people you know who are away from
church. Everyone’s welcome to join in our efforts to “Build
Faith Through Prayer” this Lent!
Peace,

“Liturgy & Prayer”
Choosing a Baptismal
Sponsor
Sponsors for Baptism must be Catho-
lic, have received the Sacraments of
Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation
and themselves actively practice our
Catholic faith. The Code of Canon Law
states, “Only one male or one female
sponsor, or one of each sex, is to be
employed (at Baptism).” (Canon 873)
While parents may choose to have ad-
ditional people informally with the title
of “godparent”, the names entered into
the baptismal register and appearing on
any certificate have to conform to the
above standards. A practicing member
of one of the Orthodox or Protestant
churches may be included in baptism
but only together with a Catholic spon-
sor. A “Christian Witness” is a baptized
person who belongs to a non-Catholic
ecclesial community and together with a
Catholic sponsor serves as witness to
baptism.
Mass Intentions for 2022
The 2022 Mass book will be available to schedule Mass inten-
tions on Wednesday, February 3rd. There is a limit of two
Masses per year, per household. Please stop in the parish of-
fice between 9:00am-2:00pm, Monday thru Friday to schedule
your Mass intentions or you can call the parish office at 440-
237-6760. Payment for Masses is due at the time of schedul-
ing.
Legion of Mary—Come and Join Us
The Legion of Mary is a Catholic organization made up of lay
men and women who want to grow in holiness by prayer and
active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. Each
praesidium of the Legion of Mary is named after a title of
Mary. At St. Albert’s, our praesidium has chosen “Our Lady
of Lourdes”. We will be celebrating that feast day of “Our
Lady of Lourdes” on February 11th.
There are 2 types of membership: active and auxiliary
(praying) members. At this time, we are looking for more
praying members to join us. The requirements are to say a
daily rosary, (if you are already saying a daily rosary no need
to add another one) and the beautiful Tessera prayers of the
LOM.
During these uncertain times, more prayer is needed. Mary
will hear us as we gather together. If you would like to join this
ministry, please contact Carrie Kercel for more information at
440-843-7596.
What is Candlemas?
Candlemas is a Christian holiday occurring annually on Febru-
ary 2nd that commemorates the Presentation of Jesus at the
Temple when he was a baby. It occurs 40 days (inclusively)
after Christmas Day. The term “Candlemas” (meaning Candle
Mass) refers to the practice of the blessing of candles by the
priest during a church service (Mass) for use during the year in
church and in the homes of the faithful.
"Respect Life” Virtual Baby Shower
The Respect Life Ministry would like to thank the Parish for
the generous monetary donations which will be shared with
Womankind, Birthright, Right to Life, and The Oaks
(Brunswick) to support expecting mothers and families in cri-
sis situations. Your support of the vulnerable is most appreci-
ated. God Bless You!

Bereavement Support: Videos & Articles
Losing a loved one is always difficult, especially during these
times of isolation when having personal contact with those who
can offer support may not be possible, so alternative sources
become essential. The Saint Albert the Great Bereavement
Support Ministry has a series of videos that may offer some en-
couragement and consolation to those who are experiencing
grief. You or someone you know may find some comfort and
healing by viewing some of the videos (accessed on the St. Al-
bert the Great’s website, under Ministries / Bereavement Sup-
port). The videos have a range of topics (Tears, Emptiness,
Holidays, Stations for the Bereaved, A Rosary for the De-
ceased, with additional videos being added soon, including
Loss of a Child, Devotional & Healing Music and Prayers…).
Please share this information with anyone who may need some
consolation after a loss.
RCIA Candidate—Kristi Peckinpaugh
My name is Kristi Peckinpaugh. I was
raised Christian in a Disciple of Christ
Church. Over the years I have attended
Catholic Mass through Beaumont High
School and with family friends, and be-
cause of this I have always been drawn to
the traditions, teachings, guidance, and be-
liefs. When I met my fiancé, Luke Martin,
and we became engaged, it was clear that
God was guiding me and it was finally time for me to become
Catholic so we can raise our family together in the Catholic
Church.

CHURCH @ HOME LENT
This Lent, join us with our Church @
Home series and encounter the love
of God through our neighbors, friends
and family members. We will share
in our Lenten reflections within our
small groups, but due to the continuing impact of the Corona-
virus on our communities, our gatherings will, again, take place
via social media only. You can choose your form of social me-
dia – online, through Zoom or Google Meet, and/or through a
simple phone conversation. Groups can be based on the form
of participation. Training sessions will be available to facilita-
tors who wish to learn how to conference using Zoom.
You can complete the Church @ Home
invitation and either mail it to the parish
office, or drop it in the Sunday collection
basket or at the parish office. The invita-
tion is also on our website. Click on the
Church@Home logo to connect to the
invitation.
Let’s continue to encounter Christ through our family and
friends by sharing in this season with Church@Home! We
pray that the Holy Spirit touches our hearts and that many peo-
ple will experience Jesus in a special way during these days of
our Lenten journey.
2021 Catholic Charities Appeal

to “help our brothers and sisters in need”. The Appeal goal is
$13.5 million and is needed to continue helping and serving
more than 400,000 people. Donations can be made online at

FISH FRY 2021 Have Been CANCELLED
Since the Lenten season is quickly approaching and the
COVID situation is still very fluid, we have sadly decided to
cancel the 2021 Fish Fry season. The Fish Fry provided our
parish with a couple of outstanding bene-
fits.
Our Justice and Compassion ministries,
and more specifically, Feeding the Hun-
gry, benefit from the proceeds of the Fish
Fry. Our Feeding the Hungry ministry is
on track to providing and serving around 18,000 meals this
year. Fortunately, due to our relationship with the Greater
Cleveland Foodbank, we can provide a nutritious meal for less
than $1. A consideration of alms giving this Lenten season to
Feeding the Hungry would gladly be appreciated.
If you have any questions, contact Denise Bobulsky at 440-237

cheer to residents of area nursing
homes. We will be collecting Valen-
tine’s Blessing Bags on February 6th and

would ask for the gift bag to contain the following items:
1. Candy (hard candy and/or chocolate).
2. (3) individual snack size bags of chips, crackers and/or cook-
ies.
3. Blank note cards that the residents can use for notes to oth-
ers.
4. A personalized Valentine card either store purchased or
homemade.
5. A size appropriate gift bag to hold the Valentine “cheer”
contents.
Blessing Bags can be delivered and placed in the white parish

Prayer for Students
God of Light and Truth, thank you for
giving me a mind that can know and a
heart that can love. Help me to keep
learning every day of my life, for all
knowledge can lead me to You. Lead
me to be aware of Your presence in
all things and at all times.
Encourage me when my studies are
difficult and when I am tempted to
give up. Give me confidence when my
brain seems slow to understand and
the way forward is filled with struggles
and challenges.
Grant me the grace to fully express all
the talents and gifts You have created,
certain that in Your love and goodness
all will be well in my life according to
Your Divine plan. Amen

Preparing for Next Sunday’s Mass Parish LinC Letter February 7, 2021 Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Read the following Scripture passage paying attention to a word,
phrase, or idea that stands out to you:
On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon’s
mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her
hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. When it was evening, after sun-
set, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door.
He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them
to speak because they knew him. Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place,
where he prayed. Simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said, “Everyone is
looking for you.” He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this
purpose have I come.” So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the
whole of Galilee. Mk 1:29-39
Consider and Discuss these 3 Questions:
Considering your life today....
1. What in this reading comforted you?
2. What in this reading encouraged you?
3. What in this reading challenged you?
For further contemplation....
What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
conclude by praying our “Parish Communion Prayer”
O Communion of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, embrace us as your children in this family of
faith. Welcome us to a place at your table in the wedding feast of heaven. O Father of Mercy, forgive us as we
forgive. Reconcile us as one Body in Christ and make us instruments of your Peace. O Spirit of Fire and Light,
send us as your witnesses in daily life. Through our prayer, faith, and good works may we become welcoming
doorways, inviting others to enter and encounter your Holy Communion of Love.
We make this prayer, Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and through Christ our Lord. Amen
Step 3
Four steps to LinC together at home, church meeting, or anywhere!
Make Use of One of These Communion Connections:
Sacred Scripture reveals an important aspect of Jesus’ healing ministry – Jesus’ need and compas-
sion for healing the sick. Everywhere Jesus went, he was surrounded by the sick and infirm. In today’s Gospel,
he cures Simon’s mother from her illness; and later the “whole town” gathered at the door with their sick and af-
flicted. Nowhere do the Gospels record Jesus directing a person to bear their suffering. Jesus never indicates
that a person is asking for too much! Sometimes, Jesus may initially seem to refuse a request, but then in re-
sponse to persistent faith, does perform a miracle (MT 15:21-28). The Gospels record no instance in which a
person asks Jesus for healing and is refused.
Reading Sacred Scripture may sometimes challenge our ideas about the Lord’s will to heal. Do we as-
sume that if we are sick, God wants us to remain that way for our good? Do we truly believe that God is listening
to our prayer? Could our resignation to illness or infirmity sometimes be a mask for unbelief? The Gospels
show a compassionate Lord who deeply desires to heal us, physically and spiritually. Let us ponder the Scrip-
tures in our heart, and believe that the Lord’s soothing healing will always be with us. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” (MT 11:28)
