2020-21 BUSING M. DENNIS FALCONER, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS [email protected] Each year the busing service is reviewed to ensure we continue to provide a safe and high quality service to our CFIS families. We have engaged First Student Canada to provide transportation to and from school on days when classes are in session. Due to safety considerations, we will be providing collector pick-up and drop-off points for the 2020 – 2021 school year. Door to door service will not be available. The collector pick- up and drop-off locations will be set in April 2020 based on the bus requests submitted by April 1, 2020. We will continue to strive to maintain the objective of having Senior & Junior High students walk less than one kilometer and Elementary students walk less than 0.5 kilometers to the closest bus stop. For ECE students, there is an expectation that they will be collected by a responsible person at the drop-off point. We strive for a timely service for our families. In order to decrease travel time and increase efficiency, CFIS may, each year, set boundaries where bus service will not be available. Parents living outside of the determined boundaries will be expected to bring their child (ren) to a collector pick-up and drop-off point. Key Deadlines April 1, 2020 -Deadline for current and new families to submit bus requests. Applications received after this date will be allocated to a pre-existing route. June 1, 2020 - Routes with estimated arrival times will be shared with all parents who have submitted requests. Each year the busing service is reviewed to ensure we continue to provide a safe and high quality service to our CFIS families. We have engaged First Student Canada to provide transportation to and from school on days when classes are in session.

the drop-off point. We strive for a timely service for our families. In order to decrease travel time and increase efficiency, CFIS may, each year, set boundaries where bus service will not be available. BEFORE AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMME SUSAN AMMETER, COORDINATOR OF BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL [email protected]

The CFIS Before and After School (BAS) program is licensed under the Alberta Child Care Licensing Act. We believe that the program is an extension of the school day and will maintain the same standards, expectations, and values of the CFIS school day. The CFIS BAS program is proud to follow the best practices in health and safety, as recommended by licensing and health authorities.

To help each child to develop to their full potential, we plan a variety of activities based on the children’s interests and needs. Activities may include:• Arts activities (visual arts, dance,

drama, music);• Athletic activities (team and

individual sports, yoga, etc);• Outdoor play and exploration;• Dramatic play;• Homework time;• Literacy activities;• Leadership and philanthropy;• Science experiments and

exploration;• Robotics, coding and programing.

The children are encouraged to contribute ideas to the daily programming and share their knowledge with others. The homework club portion for Grades 4 to 6 Before and After School program provides academic support to our students in both French and English.

Our Before-school program opens at 7:00 a.m., and the After-school program closes at 5:30 p.m. We do not provide the program on Professional Development days, Winter Break, February Break, Spring Break or Student-Led Conference Days.

While our BAS program is intended for students registered in advance, we welcome requests for drop-in, occasional use when space permits. Drop-in fee of $20 per hour (one hour minimum must be booked).

Please contact Susan Ammeter at [email protected] to request occasional care. All mandatory paperwork must be completed in its entirety before any child attends BAS, including occasional use.
