Drop-Off/Pick-Up Day Mark your calendars! Monday, January 4, 2021, from 8:00 am –1:00 pm is Drop-Off/Pick-Up Day at Butler! This is the day students can return their first semester materials and pick up second semester supplies in a drive-through line in front of the school. There are no assigned times, so you can come anytime from 8:00 am—1:00 pm on January 4th!

School Resumes Virtually on Jan. 5 Per the Board of Education, all students will continue to learn virtually when school resumes on Tuesday, January 5th due to rising Covid numbers. Students on Rotation A will return to the classroom on Tuesday, January 19. (Monday the 18th is Martin Luther King Day, and school is closed.) You can see the rotation calendar at Grades 6-12 Calendar.

Underclassmen Photos We are currently working on a plan to allow 9th - 11th graders to take a selfie for the school yearbook! Details will be coming out in early January, so stay tuned!

*SALE* on Senior Tribute Ads Our yearbook staff is offering a sale on senior tribute ads just in time for the holidays! From now until December 31st, you can save money on the purchase of an ad. This is a great way for your family to honor your senior at this special time in their life. Seniors can also chip in together and design their own page! Undecided About Life After High School?

It’s a big decision but we can help your student! The CMS Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department held an Undecided Night in December. If you missed it, don’t worry! It was recorded and can be found at this link: https://youtu.be/yPvGM11naNQ . It was such a success, they decided to hold another one on Thursday, January 7 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm! Register by January 6 at bit.ly/UndecidedNight. They’ll be discussing various trades, aviation, CPCC, military, and more!

Blanket Drive Our Volleyball Team together with Greater Charlotte RISE is holding a blanket drive now through Monday, December 21st. They are accepting new or gently used (please wash first) blankets. You can drop them off at Butler or contact Coach Robertson at [email protected].

Aviation Art Contest The NC Department of Transportation is hosting its Annual Aviation Art Contest open to children ages 6-17. Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 19, 2021. This year’s theme is “A Friendlier World with Air Sports.” Click HERE for more information.

National Technical Honor Society The following Juniors and Seniors were accepted into the NTHS. To qualify, these students must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0, been nominated by a teacher, and previously completed at least two CTE courses with an A or B. In addition, they demonstrated critical workplace values, honesty, technical skills, teamwork, leadership, initiative, and commitment to personal and professional excellence! Congratulations to everyone!

Swim Team Bragging Rights! On December 16, our Swim Team took on South Meck, and here are the top finishers! Tiesyn Harris (11th Grade) Tiesyn placed 1st in the Boys 50 Free with a time of 22.09 beating his own school record by a 100th of a second! He also placed 1st in the Boys 100 Free with a time of 1:06.20. Gregory Park (9th Grade) Gregory placed 1st in the Boys 200 IM with a time of 2:21.89. Reagan Youngblood (12th Grade) Reagan placed 1st in the Girls 50 Free with a time of 26.24. Ethan White (11th Grade) Ethan placed 1st in the Boys 100 Back with a time of 1:00.68. Frannie LeGrand (9th Grade) Frannie placed 1st in the Girls 100 Fly with a time of 1:03.16. Caroline Stowe (11th Grade) Caroline placed 1st in the Girls 100 Free with a time of 57.42 and first in the Girls 100 Back with a time of 1:05.09. Relay Results Girls 200 Free Relay consisting of LeGrand, Money, Youngblood, and Stowe took 1st place with a time of 1:48.77. Boys 200 Free Relay consisting of Park, Phipps, White, and Harris placed 1st with a time of 1:40.01. Girls 400 Relay consisting of Youngblood, Money, LeGrand, and Stowe placed 1st with a time of 4:07.33.

The Opportunity Scholarship is for students who live in target locked-out states where they cannot access in-state tuition. The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree at one of our 4 Partner Universities/Colleges: Christian Brothers University
