Scrolling Announcements What are the scrolling announcements and where can my student and I find them? As always, parents can find them on Butler’s website at the bottom of the main page. Students see them on their Chromebooks and Canvas pages. Ms. Ferron recorded a brief video you can watch at this link: https://youtu.be/Pb_tJpn4srU Please encourage your child to watch this 3-minute video and check the scrolling announcements every day. They change daily!

Career & College Promise Juniors and Seniors are eligible to apply for the Career and College Promise Program at CPCC. The program allows your student to attend CPCC part of the day to earn college credit while still taking classes at Butler. For more information and to see if your student qualifies, go to Butler’s website, click on the Career Center tab on the left, then Career and College Promise.

Employment Program The Mayor’s Youth Employment Program (MYEP) allows Juniors and Seniors to complete a PAID internship in a career field they find interesting. The internship occurs over the summer of 2021, and students must have their own transportation. Go to the Career Center tab on Butler’s website to apply and find out more information.

College Presentations We’re excited for our Juniors and Seniors to speak with the college representatives we have lined up! Registration is required for the virtual sessions - go to bit.ly/HearReps. Please tell your juniors and seniors to take advantage of these opportunities - we can’t do it for them! We will email link the night before the presentation. We add more reps each week, so have them bookmark the page and keep checking back!

    From Nurse Beth!

The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. Getting a flu vaccine during 2020-2021 will be more important than ever. It’s not too early to get your flu vaccine! Flu vaccines will not prevent COVID-19, but they will reduce the burden of flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths on the health care system and conserve scarce medical resources for the care of people with COVID-19. As we look forward to students being back in the building, don’t forget that Nurse Beth will need updated seizure action plans, medication authorization, asthma action plans, and emergency action plans. Email her at [email protected] or call the school at 980-343-6300 and ask to speak to Nurse Beth for questions.
