Amity Business School

● The environment is something you are very familiar with. It's everything that makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on the earth—the air we breathe, the water that covers most of the earth's surface, the plants and animals around us, and much more.

● There are many categories of environments. A natural environment is composed of all living and non-living things which are present on our planet, Earth. A built environment is the buildings and structures which we have built.

Introduction

• In recent years, scientists have been carefully examining the ways that

people affect the environment. They have found that we are causing air

pollution, deforestation, acid rain, and other problems that are dangerous

both to the earth and to ourselves. These days, when you hear people talk

about “the environment”, they are often referring to the overall condition

of our planet, or how healthy it is.

Stages in adaptation process Stage 1

Fatigue

• After a long flight, it is normal to arrive feeling tired. Suffering from sleep deprivation , you may soon show symptoms of arrival fatigue.

• When you are in this state of mind, it is advisable to take things easy so your body and mind can be one again.

• This is also why we suggest that you arrive a couple days before Orientation to give yourself time to recover and adjust to the new environment

Getting settled• When i arrived at campus,i was led to block C basement for our orientation which was

led by Mrs Chhaya Chordia our hostel warden .She gave us a brief intro of how things

works st amity ,what are the rules and regulation we have to abide by and how not to get

in trouble. Making it very clear that she will follow rules by book and no exception will be

made .

• After the orientation was over we were issued our rooms in the respected hostel.

• Now all that awaits for me was who will be my new room mates and will i be able to

adjust with them and their habits. But luckily we all belong to same stream .After a days

rest we have our college orientation

• Make sure that you arrive in time for Orientation. This will give you time to ease into

your new environment before classes begin.

• Orientation will provide valuable information about living in Noida, including the

culture and norms . You will also learn important things about Amity, such as what is

expected of you as a student and how the University works.

• Orientation also gives you an opportunity to meet other students, including new

students from all over india who are probably feeling as excited and nervous as you

are.

• Studying in Amity can be very exciting but it can also be challenging as you adapt to new

ways of doing things.

• Living in a new culture means a lot of changes in your life including absence from family

and friends, meeting new friends and developing networks, learning new social customs

and behaviours, experiencing a different climate and different foods.

• My greatest challenge after joining Amity was to learn and understand Hindi as my

deadline of speaking Hindi is 1st semester. I had to adjust to way of speaking and its

own brand of slang.

• I had to get use to different ways of doing things and to develop a new network of

support . I found many new good friends and supporting teachers (to a non-commerce

background ).

Amity Business Schoolcont...• when i was feeling homesick or experience difficulty adjusting to a new way of life,i called

my friends and family for a helpful talk . It is comforting to be able to talk to a friend and share my experiences.

Following were my experiences;

• headaches

• boredom

• depression

• Sleep deprivation

• upset stomach

• loss of appetite

Page 10: Bs (1).pptx

Amity Business Schoolcont..• lack of motivation

• feeling overwhelmed by small inconveniences

• extreme homesickness

● It was important to recognise that culture shock which may come as a normal process of

adjustment and all four of us had couple of these symptoms at some point in our Amity

stay and I am sure it would be common with many of the people sitting here who have left

their homes to study at Amity. If the symptoms stay with you, it is important to get some

help. You can consult your buddy mentors or meet Mrs Gujaral maam.

Amity Business SchoolCONCLUSION

Effective adjustment to new environment is necessary as people come from different regions with different cultures. So people should give some time to themselves to adjust in a new environment and should not panic. They need to gel up together and work in coordination for their better future.
