Muraca throwing out 4 runners and getting 3 for 4 with a HB_ Fine fielding play by T. Chase. Hitting of B. Castro with 2 for 3. Fine team play from 3rd inning on. Fine ball game by the West and nicel y pitched game by Esposito. 8/ 6/ 74- EAST TEAM 4 REDS 4 vs WEST TEAM 4 RED SOX 3. We won the World Series. Team 4 Reds behind the pitching of R. chase. Doubles by Lomeli and Drew have us the 4 run lead that we kept to wm this game. Fine relief pitching of Challenor for the Red Sox, giving up 2 hits and no runs for 5 innings. I want to thank the parents and the boys for the week-ends they had to give up because of our make-up games on Saturdays . MGR Late Action Report Due to the thrilling four games in four days that finished our S.L.L. season this final report is a little late. The season ended in a three-way tie with teams 6W-Mr Haglund , 7W-Mr Fuchs and us 4W , as reported in last week' s paper The winners , team 4W had to play the World Series after an exhilarating playoff which was won after an extra inning first game with fant astic relief pit- chmgo f 2 innings on Saturday which hel ped kee p us tied with team No 7 On Sunday the same pi t cher . Billy Palmer , who won 8 games and batted 470 this season , pitched another 2 innings and batted in the winning run to breakthetie After an hours rest , he went on to pi ct h 7 more superb innings in beating a great team managed by Mr Haglund Without our two starring pit- chers B Palmer and J Nevola , we w ere badl y beaten in the World Series first game by Gabe Muracas ' Champs Team 4E also won the next game, but I' m really at a loss for words in explaining the great comeback after the first inning in which Mr Muracas " team scored their 4 runs Bobby Challenor came in after pi t ching onl> 5 innings all season and held them to just 2 hits and 0 runs for 5 and 2 .5 innings With his great pitching came team fielding which would make any manager smile The final score was 4 .; We lost thc World Series to an excellent team 1 would like to thank my team who game me memories which will be nice to look back on and a future which will be fun to look forward to Thanks B Palmer D Palmer .
