Marquee EntertainmentOver the last few years we have introduced live entertainment into the marquee for your enjoyment. This year we plan to have live entertainment throughout the whole afternoon, and also during the evening.

In the afternoon we will be entertained again by the accordian players, but this year we will also be joined by the Birmingham Bassoon Choir. Formed in 2004 by two local bassoonists Chris Quince and Neil Chapman, the choir now has 24 members who play at various events around the city including the Birmingham Artsfest. For more information on the Birmingham Bassoon Choir, visit www.birminghambassoonchoir.org.uk

Once the Flower and Craft Show presentations are over, the marquee will be turned over to three local bands, for what promises to be a lively and enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

Stax Express are a soul/blues band.Female vocalist Pat Bromfield sings main vocals, plus vocals from Chris Ward on lead guitar and Tom Pritty on bass. Andy Goff plays the drums. The band share a love of soul music, especially that from the immortal era of the Stax record label. When you hear Stax Express you’re guaranteed a soul-full experience.

The WAIT Team is a youth performing arts group that, through break dancing and singing, educates young people about the dangers of free sex and empowers people to use their talents to make a difference in the world, revolutionizing the culture and modelling abstinence and faithful lifetime partnerships. Hearing and seeing the WAIT team (a registered charity) is an exciting experience, especially for teenagers.

‘Maydaze’ are an acoustic trio created in the spring of 2006, their original songs having been described as heartfelt, funky folk rock. The band features Catherine Reaney on lead vocals and percussion, with Dave Hynds and John Benbow on guitars and backup vocals.Three seasoned sensations playing with a naked honesty and a feel they can only call their own, making them ‘audience friendly’ and ready to do any musical venue justice - Not to be missed.
