Responsible Pet Ownership Program

Students in Years K-2 were once again part of the NSW Government’s Responsible Pet Ownership Education Program this term. Through role play, song and story, students were provided with a variety of stimulating activities to teach a wide range of concepts relating to “responsible pet ownership”, such as the importance of being safe around dogs. The highlight of the day was a visit by Zac the border collie. We look forward to continuing to offer this important safety program.

Happy Holidays and Stay Safe

The staff and students wish all of our BPS families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy start to 2018. We have enjoyed a wonderful year, filled with excellent growth in literacy and numeracy, as well as admirable academic achievements from particular students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Parallel to those achievements are those students who have made amazing personal and social gains in the classroom and playground environments. The staff at Booragul PS always look at the whole child when assessing their achievements, as we recognise that students will always achieve at different rates and in a variety of ways. If you are around our school during the holidays and you notice something which looks unusual, please contact School Security on 1300 880 021. We will also put this number on the school sign for your reference. If we all work together in keeping an eye on our school, then it should remain safe and secure during the break.

Staffing News - Miss Hanna and Mr Emanuel

The staff would like to wish Miss Laura Hanna all the very best at her new school on the northern NSW coast. She has secured herself a temporary position, much closer to her family, and will be taking on a Kindergarten class in 2018. Miss Hanna will be greatly missed by everyone and we know she will take everything she has learned since her first year at BPS to her new school, along with the ability to lead staff in data collection and analysis, which is part of being an Early Action for Success school. Good luck, Miss Hanna! Mr Brad Emanuel is staying on at Eleebana PS as an Assistant Principal (AP) in 2018. He took up a temporary AP position at the beginning of Semester 2 this year, and led the staff in Years 3-6 on implementing the Explicit Instruction model in literacy and numeracy. Mr E will continue this role next year, in a temporary capacity, and we know Eleebana staff are very happy to have him on board. We wish him all the very best and look forward to catching up with him at teacher professional development events next year.

Booragul Public School’s Christmas Concert - Reminder 13th December 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

This year, we are holding a whole-school Christmas Concert on Wednesday 13th December, in the hall at Lake Macquarie High School, commencing at 6pm. All students K-6 are required to wear a Christmas shirt or Christmas colours, as part of their performance. Students must be under the COLA at Booragul Public School by 5:15pm, to allow them time to get organised before the performance and mark rolls. Staff will walk students up to the high school. Students will be staying in their class groups, under the supervision of their teacher, until the very end of the concert. The performance is estimated to finish around 7:00pm, and students are to be collected at this time. Teachers will take their classes under the Lake Macquarie High School COLA, located outside of the hall at the conclusion of the concert, for collection. All students will need to have their name marked off the roll by the teacher, before going home with the nominated parent/caregiver. Students must remain until the end of the concert and are not to be taken home after their item has finished. Please note: If someone other than yourself is collecting your child, the name of this person, along with a handwritten permission note, must be handed to his or her classroom teacher, at least one day prior to the concert date. Students will not be permitted to leave without a parent/caregiver, unless this has been provided.

Thank you for your understanding,
