Inspiration

Inspiration book

My collection is about our relationship with the wild animals, more specifically with the one from the forest. The animals which live in their nat-ural environment, which are not domesticated or raised by human being. The fear we had for the forest and its animals in the middle age kept us from destroying them. But today, no one believe that Gods, wonders and dark magic are in the forest…

What do we see when we look at a forest? Basically, we see a dying re-source and not anymore a place where the imagination was the queen. What is a forest today? A threatened ecosystem. So I have wondered how remembering the animal poetry so they are protected by their beauty and not by their threatening aspect. To fulfill this will, I got inspired by Terrence Malick’s mov-ies and his representation of the animal-human being relationship. The wild is shown in parallel with the human speech, we can’t really under-

stand the wild. It is not about controlling the wild but maybe about feeling responsible, to change our view. It is the grace that gives this view in Terrence Malick’s last movies : The tree of life, To the wonder. I chose to put the wildness of the animals in an opposite universe close to the one of Walt Disney. It is not just for esthetic reasons but also for ethics one. I think that our fantast can unconsciously change how we see the wild animals. I want to neutralize our fear and wake up our inner child. My inspiration for this aim is the movie Moonrise Kingdom from Wes Anderson, the story of two chil-dren who go exploring the wild with Françoise Hardy’s music.

Print design for Carven

We had to choose a brand in which our collection could work so I chose Carven, a French label, and I decided to make a casual sportswear-inspired collec-tion. For my first print with silk printing, I wanted to represent the fur of a deer. In France, the deer is close to us but we know his pelage less than the one of the tiger or leopard. So I wanted to change that! Moreover, the pattern of his pelage makes arabesques that make me think of sparkling. I have used this sparkling to translate our wonderment when we see those animals. We rarely see them in the wild and when it happens we are fascinated. I also wanted to show their habits of hiding their selves with camouflage.

Internship Promostyl

Trend agency I have done an internship in a trend agency, Promostyl in Paris, in summer 2013. I have worked with the Baby & Child stylist Clémentine Lampréia and the two Men stylists Muri-elle Froidefond and Marion Hugoo. I had the chance to participate at a meeting for the trends for 2016 with journalists and various professionals from the fashion industry. Then I partic-ipated at the brain storming to figure out the different aspects we will work on and colors we will use. My main work at Promostyl was to search for images that suit the trend the best. I did some layouts too that were used for the main trend books. For the Men trends, I had the chance of doing sketches of possible outfits and patterns from the trends for the book. I did some embroideries and patterns that you can see on the following layouts from my internship report. It was a wonderful experience and I have learned a lot about the process of trends.
