ton May 20 for the second meet. Jim Lynch turned in a fast time in the 100-yard dash, and Frank Mami set a now aounty pole-vault record, with a jump of 11 feet, 6 inches. Nick Duboveck camo in fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 10 feet, 3 inches.
Girl’s SiwrtsThe MCS girls softball team
played host to Downsville for a game May 21. The high school tteam lost, 30-22, after a 12-run first inning for the visitoi-s. June Holecek had a home run for the lo.sers.
The junior high team s battled to a 37-37 tic.

Student CuuiicilThe student council had a
series of meetings last week to discuss the next year’s elections and tlie monitor situation. Those who wish to run have subm itted forms to the present members.
Golf TeamThe MCS golf te;mi has
played several games this year. May 11 MargaretviUe defeated Stamford, 3-1. May 14 there was a three-way meet with ^ o x b u ry and Stamford. JVIar- garetville was defeated 3-2 by Stam ford and 4-l_ by Roxtaui^. MargaretviUe played Stamford
again on May 19 and the score was tied at 2-2.
Members o f ' the team are Randy Kittle, Richard Rottkov, Nel-son Delameter, John Fenton and B arry Holden. The coaches are Mr. Solomon and Mr. Finnigan.
Middle SchoolBy Melanie Fairbairn
Mrs. A tkins’ fifth graders are doing plays in English. Several of the eighth grade girls helped Mi's. W agner’s kindergarten make cookies for snack time. The middle school teachers are visiting other middle schools throughout the state.
MusicOn May 10 Mr. Winslow took
Linda Baessler, Carol W hite and Charles Bertolino to One- onta for a musical rating. The three received a rating of A on their grade 2 clarinet trio, “Three of a Kind.”
The junior and senior bands, under the direction of Mr. Winslow, gave a concert May 22.
The John Philip Sousa award and Improvement awards were presented to Janice Kelly and Anne Sluiter, resjiectively. Mary Elliott, Marilee Todd and Ja n ice Kelly were given special recognition in the form of pins for this, their last year in band.

Rhoda Ann Schebesta was born In the MargaretviUe hosp ital M arch 18, 1952, to Mr. and Ml'S. Rudy Schebesta.
Rhoda’s hobbies are reading, cooking, gardening and listening to the radio. She plans to a ttend a business school and expects to become a secretary.
Rhoda likes modern music and her favorite group is Smith. H er favorite iiooks are “Valley of the Dolls” “Of Mice and Men,” and “In Cold Blood.”
During her freshm an and sophomore years Rhoda was in the operetta. She was a member of girls sports team s and FHA as a sophomore. All through high school, Rhoda has been an active m ember of the chorus.

w ard Spicer died early Satu rday morning in MargaretviUe Memoi'ial hospital, where she had ibeen taken the previous Tuesday suffering from a heart a ttack . ■
A lberta N orton Spicer was born in New York May 30, 1904. 'Twenty-three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Spioer bought a home on Maple avenue in this village, where they , have since lived.
She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales church and Our Lady of LaSalette Society of Phoenicia.
Funeral services were held a t St. Francis de Sales church Monday morning. ’ In term ent was in the St. F rancis de Sales cemetery a t Allaben.
Beside her husband, there survive two daughters, Mrs. Jane W hitaker of Dunn Loring, Va., and Mrs. Dorothy Rogers of E ast Rockaway, L. I., 13 grandchildren and two brothers, George Norton of Valhalla and Joseph Norton of the Bronx.

EN THAT the Annual Meeting of the inhabitants of C entral School D istrict # 1 of the Towns of Middletown, Andes, Bovina and Roxbury, Delaware County, Shandaken, Harden- burgh, U lster County, and Hal- cott, Greene County, New York, will be held in the auditorium of Central School Building on June 9, 1970, a t 8:30 P. M. (DST) for the purpose of:1. Electing a m ember of the
Board of Education for a five- year term to succeed Orvil Rosa, whose term expires.
2. Voting upon the following: Shall the Board of Education of C entral School D istrict # 1 of the Towns of Middletown, Andes, Bovina and Roxbury, Delaware County, Shandaken, Hardenburgh, U lster County and Halcott, Greene County, New York, be increased to a 7 member board.
3. Adopting a budget for the 1970-71 school year

Voting upon the following resolution:RESOLVED, th a t the Board of Education of C entral School D istrict # 1 of the Towms of Middletown, Andes, Bovina and Roxbury, Delaw are County, Shandaken, Hardenburgh, U lster County, and Halijott, Greene County, N. Y., is hereby authorized and directed to purchase two school buses and expend therefor a sum not exceeding $19,641.69 as follows:1—30 passenger bus a t a cost
not exceeding $8,248.95 1—60 passenger bus a t a cost
not exceeding $11,392.74 which said to tal sum of $19,- 641.69, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by tax on taxable prope rty of the school district to be collected in annual install
m ents and to issue obligations of the d istrict therefor in accordance with the Education Law and Local Finance Law.
5. Voting upon th e following resolution:RESCM^VED, th a t the Board of Education of Central
D strict # 1 of the Towns of Middletown, Andes, Liovma and Roxbury, Delaware County, Shandaken, Hardenburgh, U lster County, and Halcott, Greene County, N. Y., is hereby authorized and directed to purchase two (2) Portable Classro<Mns, presently on the premises, and to expend therefor a sum not exceeding $8,870.00, which said sum shall be paid from surplus funds in the existing 1969-70 school budget.

Form s providing the necessary information may be obtained from the clerk. Each petition must be directed to the clerk of the district, m ust be signed by a t least twenty- five qualified voters of the district, and m ust s ta te the name and residence of the candidate, and m ust describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated including a t least the term of office and the nam e of the last incumbent.
2. A copy of the budget adopted by the Board of Education can be obtained by any ii;iter- ested person a t the school office during office hours, beginning June 1. 1970.
