BARSHA BUZZ CELEBRATES THE SEMI-OPENING OF THE NEW, IMPROVING BARSHA CAMPUS

The 2010-2011 school

year began with the

opening of the new ASD Barsha Campus. Some of

the things we really like

about this new campus

include the field, the

cafeteria, and the spacious classrooms.

Some of the things we

are super excited about

are the new theater

(possibly the biggest in Dubai), and the brand new

middle school and high

school gym, which

includes an indoor track and a second pool. Last

but not least, we are all

excited to welcome the

elementary school to our

campus.It has been a long time

coming, but this amazing

new campus is nearing

completion, and we feel

privileged to be here everyday.

Lightning flashed as Charles Jones walked down the deserted sidewalk. It was Halloween night and he was already late. He was supposed to be home ten minutes ago, and now it was starting to rain. He regretted wearing the ghost costume, it was seriously prohibiting his movement. Rain soon began to pour down. He saw a small barn on the other side of a stretch of grass and trees. He dashed through the gate leading to the barn. He ran for about a minute before tripping. “Stupid ghost costume...” he muttered. When the lightning flashed again, he saw that he hadn’t tripped on his costume. He had tripped on a small stone. A gravestone, to be exact. He had unwittingly ran into a deserted graveyard, at ten at night, on Halloween.

With horrible images of zombies and skeletons crawling out of the earth, he madly bolted for the barn. He dashed inside and closed the door. With no way to contact his parents, he knew they had to be worried sick. He

sat down on a bale of hay and went to sleep. When he woke up, the rain had stopped. He checked his watch. It was 11:00 pm. He seriously needed to get home. He swung open the barn door and dashed out. He was almost to the gate when he tripped again. He turn in annoyance to the intricately carved gravestone that had caused his fall, but his annoyance was quickly replaced by fear. The offending stone read “Charles Jones. June 15, 1997 - October 31, 2010.”

He stumbled backwards in fear, and shot towards the gate. He bolted out and ran to the other side of the street as fast as he could. He needed to put as much distance between himself and that graveyard. “Honk!!!!!!” Thundered a loud horn. Charles swung around to see a large truck speeding towards him. He ran out of the way back into the

graveyard, barely making it out of the truck’s path. It was then when he actually did trip on his costume, and hit his head on his own gravestone. He died on the spot, true to the gravestone’s inscription.

When the search parties finally arrived, they found that he had died of head trauma. They couldn’t find any evidence of murder, and the only thing nearby

was an intricately carved

gravestone with blood on its

surface, with no names or dates

on it. Just the word “Beware.”

You would do well to heed its

warning......

LADY GAGA THE QUEEN OFCOSTUMES

Since Halloween is coming up, we chose the most unique costume queen we could think of: Lady Gaga. In her time, Lady GaGa has worn countless dresses that are... interesting? Who knows what she was thinking when she wore them. The meat dress is the most infamous dress that she has worn to date. Made of actual meat that you can buy at Spinneys, it caused a great debate about the lengths people can go to for a Halloween costume . Some say “what did you expect?”

While others say that this went too far. Last year, Michael Jackson was the award winner of the best Halloween costume, due to his death, this year’s award winner will probably be Lady Gaga. She spends millions of dollars on costumes and accessories inspired by those she will meet. Huge green wigs, giant sunglasses and the most colorful makeup turn Lady Gaga into Halloween in person. When she wore a moldy meat dress on an award show, we all wondered what will she possibly wear on Halloween? To be continued....

The Brenton Steele Bigchinitis Fund is our attempt at a Bigchinitis free world. This purely for profit organization was created by the world’s most famous Bigchinitis victim, Brenton Steele. Knowing the pain that the world’s other non-existent victims are experiencing, he set up a small drive for collecting money. He then told people that it was to cure his disease, and not to buy video games. True to PB Barnum’s saying “There’s a sucker born every minute.”, Brenton Steele is now a millionaire living the high life. At a recent interview, our founder Brenton Steele said “I knew that if I convinced enough people that I had a disease, I would become very rich.” He was right.

Brenton Steele (Above) has been stricken with Bigchinitis, a horrible diseaseUnable to afford the expensive help of hospitals, Bigchinitis victims like Brenton need your help.

It was October 15, 2010, when 12 year old Brenton Steele woke up and rose from his bed. He stumbled into his bathroom to brush his teeth and gasped in horror at what he saw in the mirror. His face was horribly distorted and warped out, like you see in the above photo.

The doctor delivered the horrible news later that day. Brenton had Bigchinitis. This horrible newfound disease drastically changes the shape of the face, causing extreme pain, discomfort, and loss of social status. “When I saw what had happened to his face,” Brenton’s friend Notnerb Eleets said “I immediately dropped my books, screamed, slapped him, and ran away as fast as I could. It was then when I fell into

the open manhole.” Both Brenton and Notnerb were entered into intensive care.

It was soon determined that neither Brenton nor Brenton’s family could afford the expensive treatment. After returning home, Brenton made the legendary decision that would make him famous and change his life forever. Brenton got himself some paper and markers, and made himself a sign.

With his fundraiser, Brenton earned millions of dollars for his own medical help, then selflessly gave it all away to away to a for-profit organization for the curing of Bigchinitis. His own Brenton Steele Bigchinitis Fund. He is now a millionaire.

As of today, there is no cure for Bigchinitis, but every donation counts! You can make a difference in the world by sending money to Brenton Steele. Please, think of the children.

WORLD NEWSFatal Flood in Pakistan

While some people in the Sahara were begging for water, Pakistan was begging for it to stop. This summer the monsoon rains created the worst flood in 80 years. The flooding started July 22, 2010 in Baluchistan and spread across the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the Northwest before hitting Punjab and Sindth. The death toll from the floods ranges from 1,300 to 1,600 people. However 20 million other citizens were affected in different ways. Most people are now without shelter and are seeking somewhere to stay.

Pakistani and international relief officials have been desperately trying to save the country but to no avail. This natural disaster has just about ruined the country. Their communities and hopes are now

buried under all of this water, but struggling to rise to the surface.

Since the beginning of the monsoon seasons, nearly 62,000 square miles have been affected according to the United Nations.

Two months after the terrible floods, water continued to eat up communities and farms in Sindth. Farming provided jobs to most of the people in Sindth. Now that all their crops have been flooded they have lost their source of income. The water has permanently ruined potential planting and seeds.Because of the county’s poor political state many Pakistanis have begun to lose hope in their country.

an effort to talk to her. Don’t shut her out. Also, start to

hang out with her and her friends. Start a group game

or make some time to spend with her at lunch or over

the weekend or after school. Some people may think

this is cheesy (which it is!), but you should sing “Just the

way you are” by Bruno Mars, it would be a cherry on

top. Never stand her up.

Eclipse Movie ReviewEclipse is the third part of the twilight saga and it cam out in August in Dubai. It’s the continuation of the second movie New Moon and the first movie Twilight. Bella and Edward return from the Volturi in Italy and start school together again. During this movie the new vampires and Victoria plan an attack to destroy the Cullen’s. When they attacked the Cullen’s were prepared with the help of the werewolves. Bella is deeply in love with Edward but didn’t realize that she still has feelings for Jacob. Jacob wants to show that he’s the right one for Bella not Edward. Bella showed her feelings by kissing Edward but Edward was watching them share this kiss. The day before the battle Edward proposes to

Bella and she replies yes.

Jacob didn’t find out until the

middle of the fight and got

injured by on of the newborns.

Luckily werewolves heal fast so it only took a few days before

he was okay, but it didn’t heal

him from the hurt of Bella and

Edwards engagement. In the

end she makes her final decision and leaves Jacob

broken hearted! Out of 10 I give

this movie a 7.

Inception, time travel, and living in a dream inside of a dream. What would happen to you if your reality wasn’t REAL?! Inception is about a dream architect who retired when problems started arising. In order to go back home to his children, he had to plant inception for a high positioned policeman who controlled his ability to leave. To plant inception, he had to get into three layers of dreams. As soon as they got to the second layer, one of them gets shot and there is only one way to revive him...In the meantime, the main character is still struggling to get his task done. He keeps trying to retrieve the code that becomes his ticket back home. The whole movie is a puzzle for you to solve. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO UNCOVER THE TRUTH...
