Well, what everyone wanted came

out last November: BLACK OPS!!!

For sure Black Ops is going to get

“game of the year” because of its

amazing gameplay, stunning

graphics, and of course the

MULTIPLAYER! In Black Ops, a

new experience is seen as

Zombies being introduced. The

basic concept of Zombies is to

survive as many rounds as possible

as they try to invade and kill you.

However, you have power-ups that

you can use to improve your

chances of getting far in the

rounds. The campaign’s storyline

is very nicely built with amazing

twists and turns here and there.

Some of the scenes are amazing

and overall the game deserved to

come out on 11/09/10. This game

still has to compete with other

games like Assasins Creed:

Brotherhood and more but I’m

pretty sure Black Ops will grab

the win. If you don’t have this

game the Barsha Buzz suggests it.

The man that brought you the lazy, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving, orange feline!The talented cartoonist was born July 28, 1945 in Marion,

Indiana. He lived with his parents, James and Betty Davis, and his younger brother Dave (aka Doc). Inside of the barnyard was

at least 25 stray cats. Jim would’ve been a farmer if it weren’t for his serious bouts with asthma as a child. Instead of doing the normal farm chores outside, he would spend hours drawing. As he practiced more, he found drawing to be more fun than farming.

Davis majored in art, business, and practical jokes at the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Two years after college, he worked for a local advertising agency and soon became the assistant to Tom Ryan, the creator of Tumbleweed. After Jim

learned the skills to become a syndicated cartoonist, he began his own strip called Gnorm Gnat. Davis attempted to sell it to a newspaper, but they rejected him because no one could relate to bugs. In his final appearance of Gnorm, Davis drew a giant foot that fell out of the sky and crushed Gnorm.

As he started to study comics, he noticed that there were a ton of comics on dogs, and none on cats! When combining his wry wit and his fantastic art skills, Garfield was born. Davis

says that Garfield was a composite of all the cats he remembered from his childhood, and he named the cat after his grandfather, James Garfield Davis.

On June 19, 1978, the comic made forty one U.S.

newspapers only to have the Chicago Sun-Times cancel it. 1300 angry readers demanded for Garfield to be put back into the newspaper. Today, Garfield is read in 2570 newspapers by 263,000,000 readers around the world. The most recent Guinness World Records’ named Garfield “The most widely

Syndicated Comic Strip in the World”. Davis had received four Emmy Awards for Outstanding

Animated Program and awards from his peers in the National Cartoonist Society: Best Humor Strip, the Elzie Segar Award, and the coveted Reuben Award.

Garfield has companions that help make the comic strip hilarious. Be prepared to meet the fantastic friends of the comedic cat.

Odie first appeared in Garfield’s life as nothing more than a dumb dog. This clueless pup soon becomes on of the fat feline’s loyal pal. Who knew “Man’s best friend” would become “Cat’s best friend”? Odie first appeared in the comic

August 8th in the year 1978. Odie first belonged to Jon’s roommate, Lyman. When Lyman left, Odie stayed. Davis says that he first made up Odie (the village idiot,

not the dog) in an advertisement. Davis liked Odie so much, he decided to use the character in the form of a dog.

Pooky is the only person that get’s to see Garfield soft side. Pooky is

understanding, cuddly, and is always there when Garfield needs him. This extraordinary bear made his first appearance in 1978 on October the 23rd. One of

the reasons that Garfield loves Pooky so much is because he doesn’t hog the blanket or try to share his food.

Make way for the “World’s Cutest Kitten” aka Nermal. Nermal made his first

appearance September 3rd, 1979. This gray, ball of fur used to belong to Jon’s parents but soon became a neighborhood cat that barged into the house just to

annoy the fat cat. Even though the little pest always comments on Garfield’s look and age, Garfield always get’s the last word. Nermal often gets sent to Abu Dhabi,

thanks to Garfield. On the television show, Nermal’s voice is done by a female which confused the fans on whether Nermal was a boy or a girl. (Continued on Next

Jon Arbuckle is the rightful owner of our orange, lasagna-loving cat. He first appeared, at the beginning of the comic book, in 1978 on the 19th of

June. He’s a geeky farm boy that soon moves from home to live in the city. This pure-hearted cartoonist is dying for a girlfriend who will except his dorky personality, lame pick-up lines, and his flawed fashion sense. Jim Davis

reveals his secret for the character. He says that he remembered the name from an old coffee commercial. Jim thought that name fit perfectly for a farm

boy that got stuck with a cranky cat. The female cat, Arlene, was first introduced (in the comic) on December

17, 1980. She shares a love-hate relationship with Garfield. She hates how

self centered Garfield is. Jim’s purpose to adding her was to introduce romance to the comic, but so far no sparks. Garfield is looking for a mate

that will accept him for the way he is. Dr. Liz Wilson first appeared in the comic strip in June on the 26th in

1979. Her first official date with Jon was on April 21st, 1980. As Garfield’s

vet, she treats him with care, like a normal (human) patient. As for Jon, she treats him like the plague. Liz would go out with Jon every now and then, but

so far, no fireworks. The only thing that is keeping Liz away is Jon’s terminal geekitis.

These fantastic characters bring the entire comic together. You have

humor, romance, adventure, and a whole lot of food. Not only are these characters in paper form, you can now check out there TV show on Cartoon

BLUE MAN GROUPA unique entertainment of comedy, theater, and music all combined.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE BLUE MAN GROUP? Well here at the Barsha Buzz we will give you an introduction to the widely known Blue Man Group.

This trio group of men who are all blue, have no ears, hair and voice make up the blue man group. They perform with unique instruments such as paint drums, PVC tubes, and the drumbone. These are just a few of the unique instruments in which the Blue Man Group uses in their performances. The performances that The Blue Man Group shows are known to be very spectacular. For they are known by their blue skin, and ability to create music with no voice or ears. What is interesting about them is that even though after the show is over

they still have to stay in character at all times while wearing the make-up.

The types of music they do is instrumentals of their new instruments. Their first released soundtrack, called Audio, consisted of full length instrumentals of their unique instruments such as the drumbone, and PVC tubes.

Being able to see their live concerts would be spectacular. So next time you run across a Blue Man Group tour or concert go buy yourself a ticket and watch their amazing show.

The journey of these blue aliens...

The Blue Man Group was

founded by Matt Goldman, Phil

Stanton and Chris Wink. All

coming from Manhattan as close

friends. They started performing

the Blue Man Group all around

Manhattan. At their Astor Place

Theatre performance they

developed their award winning

show. After that performance

they were known by many people

and began to perform in other

places around New York and also

other cities such as Chicago. In

December 1999, Virgin Records

released their debut album Audio.

By listening to some of their

music pieces in this album you

may be able to get to know

what type of music they perform.

In 2003, they released a rock ‘n’

roll album called The Complex.

So not only do they perform pop

instrumentals they also perform a

bit of rock ‘n’ roll.

For the performances that

they hold they include a certain

theme to their shows. A few

examples of their themes would

be “Science and technology”. This

is shown through their interest in

topics such as plumbing, DNA,

and the Internet. “Innocence” is

also a theme in which they touch

upon for their shows. This is

shown when The Blue Man Group

appear to be surprised and

confused as to the new modern

materials.

If you aren’t able to see

them perform live, then you

better look at those cinemas for

their new movie Blue Man Group:

Mind Blast, will be released this

year. So let’s all look out for

blue aliens roaming this Earth

bringing us the one thing that

#3 ~ Ruffles2010 has been a big year for fashion, but so has Ruffles! They can dress something up so much! They come in different clothes and shapes. But you cant have a ruffle shirt, with a ruffle skirts, then ruffle shoes, it gets to over the top. If you are going for a feminine look, ruffles is a great choice! You should wear something pink ... You could wear a puffy dress or a dress with ruffles and more ruffles. Ruffles always look feminine and pretty, so if that’s your goal you can easily accomplish it.

I want to wear these wedge heels to the dance, but

my mom says they’re too high. What should I do?

Maybe you and your mother can make a compromise. You have to respect her opinion. Why don’t you ask her nicely in a calm environment. If all else fails, smuggle them out it a big purse and put them on once you get there.

Tell your mom that a teacup pig is easier to care for than a little dog because you don’t have to walk it, bathe it, train it, or worry about shedding. Besides, teacup pigs are super unique and cuter than any other teacup animal.

I want a tea cup pig, because it is fancier than a lap dog, but my mom won’t let me get one. What should I

do?

Well, here in Dubai, it’s very easy to get a dress or anything for that matter fixed up. You can really find one ANYWHERE! Don’t let that be too much of a worry!

How to Impress your Crush!

Valentine’s Day is coming up soon! Are you excited to show or take one step further into telling your crush that you like her/him? You can impress your crush in several different ways!

Way 1) If you want to give something special to

her/him you can give her something classic: like a

rose. Or you can ask her friends what she/he likes

and get that. Way 2) If your crush

loves sports you can see which sport she/he likes

best and start to play that sport so you can have

something in common.Way 3) If you don’t want

to tell your crush that you like them because you are

not outspoken, then maybe you can tell that person

you like them secretly, for example, an anonymous

note or poem.

Way 4) If you haven’t even talked to your crush

yet, start now! One way that always works for

starting a conversation is having something in

common. For example like a skill, interest, or hobby.

Way 5) If you are a really outspoken or a bold

person, then try talking to your crush to get them

interested in you. Way 6) If your crush

has a girlfriend/boyfriend try not to get between the

relationship. Try to get

over that crush and move

on to another one so you

Happy New Year!It’s 2011! A new year! Which comes with new

adventures! What are you excited about this year? Is it

WWW? Sports games? The MS Musical? It is all exciting?!

What is your New Year’s resolution? Is it to achieve

a certain level of grades? I suggest you make a goal to

work towards by the end of the year. Make it a lot of

fun though! For example, to earn more money, why don’t you have a car wash or a bake sale? Also, if your

goal is to enhance a certain skill, then work hard at it

and don’t give up!

The latest animated creation from Disney would be there newest film, Tangled. Here, Disney recreates the classic fairytale, Rapunzel, into a wacky comedy for all ages!

Rapunzel has lived in the tower her entire life with only her mother, her friend Rascal, and her hair that glows when she sings. Her only dream is to see the floating lights that appear on her every birthday. Unfortunate for Rapunzel, her mother won’t let her leave

Flyn Rider is one of the kingdom’s most wanted thief. His most recent success was stealing the lost princess’s tiara. While running away from the royal guards, in the woods, he finds an abandoned tower that looks like a pretty good hiding spot. After getting knocked out by a frying pan he wakes up tied to a chair. But he’s not tied by ropes, he’s tied by....hair? In order to get what he wants, he has to welcome Rapunzel to the real world and take her to see the floating lights.

Follow these courageous characters in this exciting adventure. Run into greedy old women, sing with bandits, and reunite with your missing family. Get lost in the tangled mess while it remains in theaters.

I would suggest this movie for anybody who has a knack for princesses, evil old ladies, and happily ever afters. This movie was a great improvement on Disney’s part. This isn’t your average fairytale. Even though (personally) Disney has let me down with some of their newest movies, this movie had me thinking that they might open up a new world in the entertainment field.

I would rate this movie 4 stars.

This is what Steve Jones had to say about the Al Barsha campus.“My name is Steve Jones and my title is Project Manager. I am ASD's project representative and am tasked to ensure our requirements are met in a timely and cost effective manner. My role is split between:-

• Managing the consultants / contractor to guarantee what the school needs is, in fact, what we get. This encompasses criteria such as design, performance and quality.

• Directly determining and procuring FF&E items such as classroom furniture, admin furniture, sporting equipment and playgrounds.”

Q.When is the field house going to be ready?A.The field house is in an advanced state of completion. The basketball boards are installed, the suspended running track is in and we are moving into the final finishing stages. The tennis courts are completed and we are planning to have the whole gymnasium ready for use in time for the tennis tournament on the 17th February.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE AL BARSHA CAMPUS?

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NEW BARSHA CAMPUS

Q. When is Subway going to open?A. The specialist contractor has started works in the vendor space already. There are Dubai Municipality approvals to be sourced for the equipment but we anticipate the area to be completed by early March.

Q:Why does the cafeteria close right after school?

A:A breakfast service has just been introduced and we are already in discussions with our catering vendor to extend his times to after school too. I hope to have this facility in place in the very near future.

Q. How big is the entire school?A. The size of the total site within the perimeter walls is 100,000 sq m. The total floor area of the buildings (including all floors) is 60,000 sq meters

Q.When is the theater going to be ready?A. The theatre is also in its finishing stages. The ceiling and acoustic wall paneling works are completed and the timber floors to the auditorium and stage are ongoing. The installation of the specialist audio visual and stage rigging systems will start soon and the main works will be completed by the end of February. These items do have a detailed commissioning and testing process that will take a further 2 weeks to complete.

These pictures show the old Jumeria campus, the new campus underconstruction, and the almost finished product.

Q. When will the whole school be finished?A. The theatre will be the final chapter in the school completion. When that is completed we will finally have all facilities available to us!

Q. Is there going to be a fun fort for the MS?A. We are looking into that already. These is very limited space but we are seeing what we can come up with. We will have to look at how we would fund an additional fun fort also.

Q. Are there going to be bathroom door for privacy?A. The 'mock up' door that is in MS 3rd floor has been approved so we will commence with the installation of the others. We understand the privacy issue is an important one so will make sure they are installed as quickly as possible.

Q: How much bigger is the new school compared to the new one? A: The new school is over twice the size of the Jumeirah campus.
