On behalf of the Catholic Charities

Appeal you will be asked to consider

a gift to the Archdiocesan Catholic

Charities for 2017. If you pledged last

year, please pledge again this year. If

you were not able to make a pledge

last year, perhaps a special one-time

gift would be appropriate for you.

Spend some time thinking and

praying about what you can do to

make this year’s campaign a success

as it reaches out to the most deserving

in our Archdiocese.

We are saddened by the

loss of one of our Life

long parishioners, Mrs.

Jean Lewis Gill. Mass

of the Christian Burial

will be celebrated on

Saturday, Feb. 4th at

10:00am.

The burial will follow

a t G e t h s e m a n e

Cemetery. Please keep her and her

family in your prayers and Masses.

May Her Soul Rest In Peace

What is the good life which God intends for us? And how is it related

with the ultimate end or purpose of life? Is it not our desire and longing

for true happiness, which is none other than the complete good, the sum

of all goods, leaving nothing more to be desired? Jesus addresses this

question in his sermon on the mount. The heart of Jesus' message is that

we can live a very happy life. The call to holiness, to be saints who

joyfully pursue God's will for their lives, can be found in these eight

beatitudes. Jesus' beatitudes sum up our calling or vocation - to live a life

of the beatitudes. The word beatitude literally means "happiness" or

"blessedness".

God reveals to the humble of heart

the true source of abundant life and

happiness. Jesus promises his

disciples that the joys of heaven will

more than compensate for the

troubles and hardships they can

expect in this world. Thomas

Aquinas said: "No one can live

without joy. That is why a person

deprived of spiritual joy goes after

carnal pleasures." Do you know the

happiness of hungering and thirsting for God alone?

Your final 2016 Contribution Statement (useful for IRS tax purposes)

will be available upon request the end of January. If you note any errors,

call the Rectory so that adjustments can be made.

Parents, please remember to

register your children for their

CCD Sunday School Classes.

Both First Communion and

Confirmation require a 2 year

preparation. Registration forms

(one per child) are located in the

Complete and drop off at the

Rectory.
