UXILIARY TASK 1. POSTER The purpose of a film poster is to raise awareness and to attract people towards a certain film. A poster provides a range of information for the audience to see. This includes the title and usually a large picture, alongside this – a release date, maybe different reviews from highly regarded sources and potentially a tag line which anchors the film.

AUXILIARY TASK1. POSTERThe purpose of a film poster is to raise awareness and to attract people towards a certain film.

A poster provides a range of information for the audience to see. This includes the title and usually a large picture, alongside this – a release date, maybe different reviews from highly regarded sources and potentially a tag line which anchors the film.

It’s not only the written part of the poster that provides vital information for the audience, it’s also the images because these hold connotations and give an insight into the films.

FILM INSTITUTION LOGOSThe image also tells the story because it gives a key part of the film without giving too much away. For example, a horror could us e the antagonist as the image to establish the genre.

The billing block gives the directors etc credit alongside the film institution logos. This makesthe film more credible if these are recognised companies and also directors etc with good reputations – consequently widening the appeal.

The film title is a necessity to have in the centre of the poster to allow people to see the name of the film and consequently recognise it again if they express that they want to go and see it.

The actor’s names are vital to be involved as they act as a means of encouragement if they have a positive reputation for making good films. This could be a factor alone that people go and see films.
