Associaon Missionary Thoughts: During this time of the year most Churches are starting to undertake a very difficult task. Actually, it has been and still seems to be one of the most difficult tasks in the ministry. That is getting Christians (church members) to volunteer to take positions in God’s Church. Nominating Committees are prayerfully asking people to pray about serving God by serving in different positions in His Church. It never ceases to amaze me that someone will almost always say, “Well, if no one else will take it, I will”. Or one of my favorites , “I’ve done my time”. Kind of sounds like they were in prison instead of realizing that they had the privilege to serve the Most High God, in His Church, in whatever position they were asked to serve. With that said, you may be approached by someone on the Nominating Committee asking you to serve. Before you say “NO”, take some time in prayer to search the heart of God, asking Him if this is His Will for your life. If it is, then strive to carry out the teaching of Colossians 2: 23 which says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord…” If it isn’t God’s Will, that’s fine, for we all desire to be in the center of His Holy and Perfect Will. There are many wonderful opportunities for all of God’s children to serve Him in His Church. Also, on May 14 th , we will celebrate Mother’s day. I personally have a lot to celebrate this Mother’s Day. My mother has had some major health issues this past year, but Praise Be to God, she is doing Great. I personally want to thank all of you who have prayed for my Mother, called and asked about her, and for encouraging me during her illness and recovery. God gave me a Very Special Mother as well as he did you. We should cherish them, encourage them, thank them, pray for them and be a Blessing unto them. Moms are a Blessings from God. Work is still going on at the Savanah Baptist Assembly. The four cabins are up and dried in. We still need to complete the interior. We are going to take down the boys and girls bath houses and rebuild them as one unit with boys on one side and girls on the other. And there is still a lot of other work projects to be done. If you are willing to help, or can round up a group from church to help, please let us know at the Association Office. You can work during the week or on the weekends. We have plenty of work to accomplish before the summer schedule kicks off. Thank you for allowing us to serve you. We are honored and blessed to be a part of the Savannah Baptist Association. Tony’s Tidbits: In just a few short days another academic year comes to a close. At least seven BCM students will be graduating and headed out into the world. A number of other students will be transferring or moving on to other schools. Some others will be heading home for the summer or taking a break from school. At least four students will be headed all over the world as summer missionaries. Our hope is that these students have been prepared for this transition. It has been our goal to challenge them to grow and mature in their faith. Our theme this year has been from 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8. We have encouraged the students to be ready to share the gospel and their very lives. They have been active in doing just that. During April we were able to take our lunch onto campus thanks to The Crossroads Baptist Church. We served over 300 students. They got free food and heard about the free gift of Christ. A new leadership team has been chosen for the fall. The outgoing leaders have been recognized. New leaders have been trained. New plans have been made. And the ministry continues to move forward. Always changing but never shrinking back. Next on the agenda is meeting both new and transfer students during thirteen summer orientations sessions. Keep praying for us to continue to be a shining example of Jesus Christ to the Armstrong Campus. Rev. Tony Branham, Director Baptist Collegiate Ministries www.armstrongbcm.org.
