Lower Elementary Animal Hide & Seek Kindergarten to Grade 1 Students will examine the shapes, textures, and patterns found in the animal world and create an imaginative animal of their own by combining the features of several animals to make one wile new creature. Parts of Art Grades 1 to 3 Students will use each of the elements of art to create a painting of their own to take home. Journey to Joslyn Grades 2 to 4 Students will learn the basics of pottery terminology and process by examining the geometric and narrative designs of ancient Greek ceramics. After observing a live pottery wheel demonstration students will use construction paper and markers to create their own two- dimensional pot inspired by Greek traditions. Subjects & Styles Grades 2 to 4 This lesson will offer insight to some of the art world’s most frequent subjects and the various styles artist have chosen to represent these subjects in their art. Students will experience the world of Cubism and still life painting by creating a composition that includes several viewpoints of their arranged objects. Upper Elementary Native American & Western Art Grades 4 to 6 Students will create a Plains Indian parfleche as they learn about the traditional process and design of this functional art object.

Temporary Exhibitions Kindergarten to Grade 12

Lower Elementary

Animal Hide & Seek Kindergarten to Grade 1
