Anoka-Ramsey is an open door, comprehensive higher education institution committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Anoka-Ramsey is committed to responding to the educational needs of its changing communities and to providing opportunities for enhancing knowledge, skills, and values in a supportive learning environment.
Anoka-Ramsey had a huge impact on who I was as a student and
who I am as a leader. The students and instructors at Anoka-Ramsey are special. They are dedicated,
passionate, multi-tasking, organized, intelligent people from every walk
of life. The blend of life and college experience with professionalism
created one of the best learning atmospheres I have experienced. The
relationships I formed at the college will last a lifetime.

Anoka-Ramsey: The Place
Anoka-Ramsey Community College cares about the state and the communities it serves.
As a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, Anoka-Ramsey Community College was established in 1965 in a wing of Centennial High School in Circle Pines with 600 students.
Today, Anoka-Ramsey has two main campuses: the Cambridge Campus with approximately 115 acres along west Highway 95 on the Rum River, and the Coon Rapids Campus with approximately 103 acres on the Mississippi River, 20 miles north of downtown Minneapolis. Along with providing education at the two main campuses, Anoka-Ramsey brings courses and programs into the community at 13 off-campus locations. The college grew to serve more than 12,000 students in the 2009-2010 academic year.
Since recordkeeping began in 1968, approximately 186,285 people have taken courses at the college, from short-term training/certificate programs, two-year, four-year and graduate degree programs, to KID U/College for Kids, Professional Training and Alumni Association programs.

Created with input from community leaders, college personnel and students, Anoka-Ramsey Community College is guided by a strategic plan titled Designs for Distinction that contains four main objectives. Here are those objectives and examples of how the college faculty and staff are meeting them.
DEsiGns FOR DisTinCTiOn
Objective i: Excel at teaching, learning and learner development to improve learner success.
All academic offerings at Anoka-Ramsey are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the accrediting body for many public and private colleges and universities in several states across the country.
To advance student development, Anoka-Ramsey hosts award-winning faculty. Last year alone, faculty wonsuchprestigiousawardsastheMcKnightArtistFellowship,DistinguishedChapterAdvisorAward(Phi Theta Kappa) and Educator of the Year, just to name a few. Art and music faculty displayed and performed at venues through the state including the Walker Art Center, the Northrup King Building and the Minnesota Opera.
Students, following the example of their instructors, reach new heights as well. At the Cambridge Campus alone, Phi Theta Kappa (honor society) students earned a host of recognitions at the societys regional convention in the spring.

A recent student survey reported a full 51% characterized their education as good and 25% described their education as excellent. Nearly three quarters of the sample (74%) said Anoka-Ramsey was their first choice for college.
