Andy's Scandy Selection A collection of mostly Swedish tunes, many of which will be familiar to regulars of the Gregson Thursday night session. The tunes have been noted down from various recordings, mainly Groupa,Filarfolket or Trio UGB, or they are tunes I know and like enough to wrestle with those elusive rhythms! In this case, I have written them as I play them so they are not neccessarily the same as other versions. I just hope I have got the gist wellenough! I have tried to credit tunes where possible, but It's sometimes hard to tell what is traditional. Let me know about any obvious blunders or wrong bits!If you have any tunes you would like adding for the 2nd edition, send them to me! I have broken it down into section:p2. Ganglats (Walking tunes)p4. March tunes (Including bridal marches)p7. Polskasp20. Schottises p26. Waltzesp34. Miscellaneous Andy Hornby [email protected]

Polskas Polskas are notoriously difficult to note down accurately. Whilst they can mostly be written in 3/4, I find many makemore sense in 9/8 (3 dotted crotchets, or 3 crotchet/quaverpairs). The first tune, I could only approximate by usinga dotted crotchet/dotted crotchet/crotchet pattern. I'm sorry if this offends anyone! But try playing as written. The main thing is to keep the accents on the 1st and 3rd beats
