RESCUE, TRANSFORM, SHARE
Did you know that Cincinnati is ranked #5 among U.S. Cities with the
highest childhood poverty rates? At the same time, one-third of all food
produced worldwide is either lost or wasted each year. Headed by chief
Suzy DeYoung, LaSoupe is closing the gap between food waste and
hunger. LaSoupe rescues otherwise wasted produce to create delicious
and highly-nutritious meals for customers, non-profits and food-insecure
families. In 2016 alone, LaSoupe rescued 125,000 pounds of food from
going to the landfill and donated over 95,000 servings to people living in
food insecurity. LaSoupe is a Non Profit organization that relies on retail
sales and individual donations to operate. Sales of the meals made from
rich ingredients fuel their donations to Cincinnati’s food-deprived individ-
uals.
On Sunday, October 15 we have an opportunity to help LaSoupe with
their initiatives to help our community. Their food truck will be here after
worship and they will have containers of soup available for purchase. The sales from their soup will help their initiatives
to serve and care for the local community. As the weather changes, we know that soup season has arrived! Let’s help
our neighbors while enjoying some delicious soup from LaSoupe!

Rocks, Rocks, Rocks
We need rocks that are the size of a baseball or larger. They are needed for the areas where the mulch washes
away. Mulch is expensive, rocks are free. If each member could just bring a rock or two as a contribution to the
church, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

CHURCH LIBRARY
Are you aware that our church has one? And that it’s more than a meeting room? Now we don’t have anything fancy – just books. You remember those? Printed on paper that you hold in your hand and can carry with you to wherever you want to read them. No downloading, no batteries, no electric connection re-quired. The library has recently been repainted, resorted, and reorganized, thanks to Disciples Women. There are some books that are no longer relevant that are available for adoption on tables in the library. Books that are not taken home will be given to the Anderson library for their sale.
We’re keeping it simple; no more Dewey Decimal System. Books are shelved by category: Bibles, Bible study guides, Bible reference books, biographies and autobiographies, children’s books, Christian education, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) history, devotional materials, family resources, prayer helps, theology, world religions, and women’s studies. There are some great resources available for borrowing. We do ask that when you take out a book you sign it out in the folder on the cabinet with the date, your name, and the book title. And don’t forget to bring the book back. Just enter the date returned in the folder. You can leave the book on the cabinet to be refiled.
All Saints Day
For all the saints, who from their labours rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia! - “For All The Saints”
By: William Waisham How
Sunday, November 5 is All Saints Sunday. During worship, we will be lifting up prayers of
remembrance of family and friends who have passed away since November 12, 2016.
Please submit the names of your loved ones to the church office no later than October 20
so that the names can be included in the bulletin on Sunday, November 5. We pray to
honor and remember those who have gone on before us as their names are lifted up by
this community of faith
Blanket Sunday This year we will be observing Blanket Sunday on October 8. Blanket Sunday is a pro-
gram of Church World Service. Headquartered in neighboring Indiana, CWS is in-
volved with assistance in natural disasters, refugees, homeless shelters and migrant
workers throughout the world. While their mission includes much more than blankets
which have many uses, blankets are tangible symbols of warmth and comfort. Disci-
ples Women, formerly known as Christian Women’s Fellowship, has sponsored Blan-
ket Sunday at AHCC for many years. As fall and winter approach and we get out our
family blankets, we think of those persons who have no blankets, perhaps even no
home. In the past AHCC has contributed over $300 each year, and we ask your assis-
tance again this year to provide assistance to those in need.
A big “Thank You” to everyone that participated in the “All Church Clean-Up Day.
An incredible amount was accomplished.
The yard and grounds look beautiful.

Do You Know About SEM?
Do you know that SEM is in its 51st year of operation? From its beginning in January 1967, the
Southeastern Ecumenical Ministry has encouraged area churches to do mission together that
they would not be able to do separately. The very first coordinator of SEM was Rev. Robert
Brock from AHCC. Under his leadership, the organization grew quickly and established a num-
ber omission projects. While there were a considerable number of mission projects dedicated to
helping people with food and clothing, the organization is perhaps best known for the establish-
ment of four housing facilities and one nursing facility in the area. SEM continues its quest to
help the needy with the SEM Food Pantry and Race Track Ministry. If you would like more infor-
mation about the work SEM does in our community, please talk to Tom Moore who is our SEM
representative.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is now located in the hallway
outside the Fellowship Hall. Everyone please
check for items you may have left behind. We will
leave the items for the next 2 weeks. After that we
will be donating them.
The greatest act of faith some days is to simply get up and face another day.
