Little Saints Preschool This year’s flower and vegetable orders exceeded ex-
pectations. Thanks for your generous support of our Little Saints Christian Preschool ministry.
The plants will be delivered Saturday, May 20. Pick up will be at church, between 9 am and 11 am. If you are unable to make this pickup time, please let Monika Fiedler know and we will make other arrangements for you.
Since we have to order most items by the case, we will have some extra flowers, vegetables and herbs for purchase on Sunday, May 21.
On behalf of the Palatine Opportunity Center (POC), we would like to thank all who made donations toward plants for their community garden on Hicks. Your donations will provide 150 vegetable plants!!! That is awesome. The Preschool board is thrilled that our first effort to partner with POC was so successful.
Maker Fun Factory VBS coming this
summer to All Saints! At Maker Fun Factory VBS kids discover not only that God made
them the way they are, but for a purpose too. Maker Fun Factory is filled with incredible Bible-learning experi-ences kids see, hear, touch and even taste! Sciency-Fun GizmosTM team-building games,cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes.)
When: June 5th—June 9th from 9:00 to 12:00
Who: Students age 3* to children entering 5th grade. (*Must be able to go to the bathroom independently.)
Cost: $30.00—Checks made payable to All Saints.

VBS Needs Your Help!
In order for VBS to be a success, we need your help buying/donating supplies for our projects and snacks. Please look for the bulletin board next to room 222 for the supplies needed. Supplies will need to be brought to church by May 28th. We are also still in need of Crew Leaders, Game Station Leaders and Kid Vid Station Leaders. Fellowship, Fun & Prizes! Join the fun on Friday May 19th. Sign up in the gathering

Blessing of Bikes and Other Wheeled Things At our first Saturday service of the year (May 27 at 5:00 pm),
bring your bicycles and scooters and skateboards and motorcycles. We will pray God’s blessing for safety and joy this summer season.

Summer Before the War” by Helen Simonson.

PADS Volunteer Appreciation Dinner Everyone who helped with All Saints’ ministry to the homeless this season is
invited to a celebratory dinner on Friday, May 5th. “Whether you were a shift-worker once a month or more; cooked or shopped for food (even if it was only one loaf of bread); or frequently vacuumed carpets on Sunday morning, we want to recognize your contribution to this important work,” said Co-Site Director Tom Germuska. “Come and join your co-workers for a casual supper,” he added. “Everyone is important to this ministry.”
As in the past there will be a meet-and-greet in the Gathering Space starting at 5:30 pm with some appetizers, a buffet dinner will be served at 6:15 pm Some brief remarks will follow dinner and guests can plan on leaving by 7:30 pm; plenty of time to catch a movie or do something else that evening.
2017 Golf Outing
The 24th annual ASLC Golf Outing will take place at
the historic Lake Zurich Golf Club on Thursday, July 20th with a Shot Gun start at 1:00 P.M. The event follows a scramble format.
The annual Golf Outing is simple just a fun event and
a great way to meet folks. You don’t need to be very good at golf as the game is a four-man team event and the teams are balanced with talent (or lack thereof.)
Golf will include the usual beverages and snacks. After golf, we will enjoy a delicious bar-b-que at the
church and award prizes. The golf fee will be $40, cart rental, if needed, will be $12 per person, while the banquet remains at $12 this year. The event, including the banquet, is again open to friends and family mem-bers.
We encourage new members to participate. And, for
us old timers, let’s get the new members to attend. So, grab your friends and sign up for a great time.

Discussion On
Congregational Climate What is the Congregational
Climate discussion you ask? Well, it is a study being con-ducted by a council task force to help All Saints Coun-cil members map a course into the future growth and guidance for our church. The task force (Michelle Thompson, Jen DeFranco, George Buerger and John Nicholas) are asking for your help by providing input for the road map we will use.
Please join us between services on May 7th or at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 17th. Those unable to attend either session will be invited to participate in a survey.
Your input is important and we look forward to your participation in the Congregational Climate Round Table Event!
For All to Know Christ 4 Saints Alive! May 2017
The seven weeks after Easter are the season of Easter. They are also often referred to as “Eastertide.” Easter continues for seven weeks until Pentecost (June 4 this year). Let the Easter-tide continue to roll in your life and in the life of our world. All of Eastertide, we worship at 8:30 and 11:00 each Sunday morning.
Summer Suppers Project resumes May 10; Feeding the hungry is an ideal family opportunity
All Saints participation in the summer-long ecumenical program to feed the hun-gry in the Northwest suburbs, will resume Wednesday, May 10. The once-a-month Summer Suppers are an ideal opportunity for families with teens and tweens to vol-unteer together; Confirmation students can use Summer Suppers to accumulate service hours.
We will open our doors and serve a community meal on the second Wednesday of May, June, July, August and September—the months when the PADS shelters are closed. Holden Evening Prayer worship is at 7:30 p.m. on the same night as Sum-mer Supper and members of the congregation are welcome to be part of the com-munity and come for supper before worship. Supper is served starting at 6:30 p.m. and the doors close at 8 p.m.
Although the program was designed to provide nutritious meals for homeless per-sons during summer, all are welcome. All Saints posts information about the sup-pers at both the Palatine and Rolling Meadows Senior Centers and distributes flyers at both the Palatine Township and Bethel food pantries
Members can support the program by helping serve and clean up, cooking or buy-ing food or making by a donation. Each night we need a dozen volunteers as well as food-donors to cook and shop for the meals we serve. Volunteers each night work 2½ hour shifts starting at either 5:30 or 6 p.m. No training is required alt-hough youth volunteers must work with a parent.

Celebrating Our Oneness, Embracing Our Unity with Holy Family
In observance of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and in celebration of Christian unity, mark your calendars for the second of two joint liturgical celebra-tions with Holy Family Catholic Church.
Cinco de Mayo Party One of our community partnership organizations, the POC (Partners for Our Communities), is holding its annual Cinco de Mayo fundraiser on Thursday, May 5. The event runs from 5:00-8:00 pm at Falcon Park in Palatine. Your $50 ticket gets you Mexican cuisine, live music and games, etc.

Feed My Starving Children Activity
You are invited to join in feeding the hungry around the world in a hands-on way at Feed My Starving Children. This is a great event for the whole family—Scoop and fill bags of rice and protein that are shipped around the world. These events are held and FMSC (1072 National Parkway in Schaumburg). In either case, visit http://volunteer.fmsc.org and use the join code to register. Tuesday, May 16th from 8:00 to 9:30 joining with our friends from the Islamic Society of the North-west Suburbs. Daily Email
Devotionals and
Conversation Each day (Monday through Friday), Pastor Jenn or Pastor Seth write a brief daily email devotional that is sent out via email. The scripture texts for these reflections are based on the daily lectionary, designed to tie in to and build upon the readings from the Sundays. If you'd like to receive these and are not currently, please send an e-mail to [email protected]. For those interested, we also have a conversational component.
You can also read the devotionals at aslcdevotions.blogspot.com. Here, you can also leave comments either for the pastors or for other members and reflect back on what we've written. Join in the conversation and make the Bible a part of your daily life.

Fellowship Group Meet before heading to the office or the rest of your
day for Bible Study and conversation at 7:00 am on Wednesday mornings at Red Apple (2121 S. Plum Grove Rd. in Palatine).
If you are interested, talk to Pastor Seth so he can reserve a space. We can always make room.
Ladies Lunch Over the last few years the ladies of Bethel have
met on the 4th Thursday at 12:30 for lunch at the Red Apple. They plan on continuing this and would like the ladies of All Saints to join them. If you have any ques-tions, please call Pat Schmitt at 847-398-3124
