Of course, that also means our revenue has dropped as it does every year at this time. The “Snowbirds” have left and the “Sunbirds” will be traveling to escape the summer heat; but, we still have great events scheduled for May and June with Youth activities week Saturday, May 5 with the PERs along with Youth activities Chair- person Lue Tidmarsh hosting the Annual Family Swim Day at the Aquatic Center. This is always a popular event and serves over 800 Havasu residents to a free swim, hot dogs, cotton candy, soft drinks and enjoying the day. Also, in May we will be presenting two deserving Lake Havasu students with scholarships of $2,000 each. See the calendar insert and ads for details on the following events: Mother’s Day Brunch May 13th, Father’s Day Brunch June17th, and the Mexican Fiesta on May 6th. Exalted Ruler’s Message: May is here and the crowds in Havasu,

and the lodge, have thinned out. Of course,

that also means our revenue has dropped as it

does every year at this time. The “Snowbirds”

have left and the “Sunbirds” will be traveling

Hi Elkettes. What a busy and wonderful month

we have had. The welcoming ceremonies and

good wishes from all have been gracious. It

all began with a perfect Officer installation

performed by Kathy Cummins. Thank you

Kathy and to past president Pauline Thonnard

and Kathy Fairbank for all their help with the

transition.

The awards dinner was attended by many

in a beautifully decorated room. Well done

Pauline and your committee. Special thanks to

Linda Carter for all the beautiful butterflies at

each table. Congratulations to award winners.

(See page 3 for details) Job well done and you

are all deserving of the recognition.

Rosalie Smith did another fantastic job

with the Crazy auction. How proud she was to

be able to present Christine T. Bergen of the

Lake Havasu City Special Olympics with a

check for $1,000. Great job Rosalie!

Though many of you are staying on as

committee chairs, many of our members would

like to take a break after many years of com-

mitment. This is a great opportunity for others

to step up. The following have stepped up:

Parliament chair-Linda Carter; Sergeant –at-

Arms-Cheryl Lomeli; Chaplain-Juanita Ger-

vais; Liaison-Royce Morris; E-mail-Kathy

Fairbank; Jewelry-Doris Perez; Set-up-Ellen

Piche; Sunshine– Kay Jedrey and Lodge Dec-

orations-Al & Kay Jedrey. We need an Audi-

tor. I would like all members, old and new, to con-

sider chairing existing events as well as beginning

new events this year. Put your thinking caps on! I

feel it is time to incorporate at least one new event

into our schedule. If you chair an event you decide

which charity receives the proceeds.

Don’t forget the Mexican Fiesta on March

6, 2012 chaired by Kathy Fairbank and Paul-

ine Thonnard.

PASS IT ON!

The Lake Havasu City Elks were Hon-

ored in the April edition of the Elks Maga-

zine and now is the time to let everyone

know what we do to support the community.

After you have read the Magazine simply

remove the address label and donate it to

your local doctor/dentist office, or any other

place where people sit and read while wait-

ing for an appointment. It can have a positive

effect on participation in our youth and vet-

erans programs as well as the lodge’s mem-

bership retention and gain.

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION REPORT As we enter the new Elk year I want to thank all members who donated to the ENF this

past year and for those who have not done so as yet please consider a $10 donation to this

exemplary charitable organization that supports our youth activities, veterans, scholar-

ships and Arizona Major Projects.

Thanks to the Elkettes for their $200 donation and to the following for their $100 dona-

tion: Robert Watts, Lester Galst and Robert Paris.

If I have failed to mention your name in the Wapiti or have failed to place your name on

the Honor Board in the lodge room, please let me know so I can make it right. The board

in the lodge room is reserved for those members donating $100 or more to ENF.

Remember, the ENF does not have the exorbitant overhead associated with some chari-

ties, with only the interest used for local and national charitable contributions.

Thanks for your past support of the ENF. Jerry Gillen ENF Chair and lodge Trustee.
