TAMAYUZ cruised to victory in the G1 Prix Jean Prat beating RAVEN’S PASS (G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner) by 1 1/2 lengths and RIO DE LA PLATA who was back in third. He then ran away with his second G1 success of the season in the G1 Jacques Le Marois at Deauville in August. He beat dual G1 winner NATAGORA as he pulled away easing down in the closing stages to win by two and a half lengths. He had begun his 2008 campaign by winning the G3 Prix de Fontaine- bleau before winning both G1 races. TAMAYUZ has now added his name to a long list of champions who have also won this race including DUBAI MILLENIUM, SIX PERFECTIONS, DUBAWI and MANDURO. Nayef showed great consistency and soundness throughout his career when winning the G1 Champion Stakes, G1 Juddmonte International, G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic. Tamayuz & Haatef

Derrinstown Derrinstown Stud are proud to announce that TAMAYUZ & HAATEF

will stand at Derrinstown Stud for the 2009 Breeding Season. DUAL G1 winner and homebred TAMAYUZ, will retire to Derrinstown for the 2009 Stud Season. He had begun his 2008 campaign by winning the G3 Prix de Fontaine-bleau before winning both G1 races. TAMAYUZ has now added his name to a long list of champions who have also won this race including DUBAI MILLENIUM, SIX PERFECTIONS, DUBAWI and MANDURO.

TAMAYUZ (by NAYEF ex AL ISHQ) is Nayef’s first dual G1 winner, which is very fitting, considering Nayef himself is also a homebred and stands at Shadwell Stud. Nayef most recently sired his second G1 winner, LADY MARIAN when she took the G1 Prix de l’Opera. Nayef showed great consistency and soundness throughout his career when winning the G1 Champion Stakes, G1 Juddmonte International, G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic. He is out of the brilliant Height of Fashion, herself the dam of champions NASHWAN and UN-FUWAIN (sire of eight G1 winners including Derrinstown’s ALHAARTH). TAMAYUZ hails from a family steeped in Champions. His dam AL ISHQ , is a half sister to G1 Prix du Jockey Club winner ANABAA BLUE and also hails from the family of KING’S BEST and URBAN SEA, dam of champion and sire GALILEO and BLACK SAM BELLAMY. Al Ishq visited Nayef again in 2008 and has been successfully scanned in foal. Homebred HAATEF, won the G2 Diadem Stakes at Goodwood in 2007. ELNADIM…..ELNAWIN…..ELNADIM…..ELNAWIN ELNADIM’S ELNAWIN broke the two year old tack record at Kempton when he battled his way home to take the G3 Sirenia Stakes. In a breath-taking finish, ELNAWIN hung on to beat Square Eddie by a head despite his jockey dropping the reins. This smart son of ELNADIM out of the Night Shift mare ACICULA, previously won the valuable Doncaster £300,000 St Leger Yearling Stakes when beating the useful Bonnie Char-lie (Intikhab) by a comfortable two lengths. He has now won three of his four starts so far.

PASAR SILBANO ran away with the Sportsman’s Challenge over six furlongs at the Curragh at the end of September. This useful filly had previously landed the Listed Curragh Stakes at the same venue in July. She won her first two outings in Dun-dalk and was also placed in Listed company in May. Also at the Curragh on the same day, another daughter of ELNADIM, homebred ALMASS, won a very competitive conditions race over seven furlongs and went on to win the Listed Navigation Stakes by an impressive four and a half lengths and Listed Knockaire Stakes by an easy four lengths on her most recent out-ing at Leopardstown, she will most likely be aimed at the Gladness stakes.

Stephen Collins—General Manager

“It’s exciting to stand another good looking horse with such excellent

conformation. His sire DANZIG, needs no introduction as a sire of sires DANE-HILL and GREEN DESERT, and his dam

has already produced four stakes winners

NAAQOOS (right) was a very impressive winner of the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on the second day of the Arc weekend. He soon pulled his way to the front and held off challenges from MILANAIS and INTENSE FOCUS to win by a neck. NAAQOOS could definitely be something very special as he showed he has plenty of speed together with a very powerful stride. He is a two year old son of Oasis Dream and will be one horse to look forward to during his three year old campaign which could include the 2000 Guineas or the French equivalent in 2009. ALWAJEEHA took the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes at Keeneland in Oc-tober. This filly, also bred by Shadwell, won her maiden at two and also took the G3 Appala-chian Stakes before finishing second in the G2 Lake George Handicap and Tropical Oaks. She is now most likely to be retired to the Shadwell Farm broodmare band. WATAR, a strapping son of our own MARJU, was also successful on the first day of a highly anticipated Arc weekend. Having won in Listed company this year, he took his chance in the G2 Prix Chaudenay and won by an easy five lengths. WATAR made a strong run and was leading in the final 200 metres when he drew clear from old rival SHEMIMA. TAMAYUZ won both the G1 Prix Jean Prat & G1

Prix Jacques Le Marois in 2008 and will stand at Derrinstown for the 2009 Breeding Season. Other notable runners this month included TAZEEZ, winner of the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and homebred SHAKIS, second in the G1 Shadwell Mile and more recently winner of the G2 Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga for the second consecutive year.

MULTIPLE Group success for Shadwell with Naaqoos, TAMAYUZ, ALWAJEEHA, Watar (Marju) etc...

With an impeccable pedigree by leading sire DANZIG out of the winning Mr. Prospec-tor mare SAYEDAT ALHADH, there’s no question that HAATEF has a stallion’s pedi-gree. DANZIG has sired over 200 stakes winners and is the sire of successful Champions Agnes World, Hard Spun, Lure, Elnadim and War Chant just to name a few. DANZIG is also sire of Champion sires including GREEN DESERT and DANEHILL. HAATEF is an Ascot Group winning sprinter who is inbred to the speed influence NATIVE DANCER. HAATEF’S dam SAYEDAT ALHADH, is out of stakes winner Muhbubh and is a full sister to G2 winner and sire KAYRAWAN. HAATEF is a full brother to G3 and Listed winner WALAYEF and Listed winner ULFAH. The family is steeped with stakes winners including SAYEDAH (G2 Rockfel Stakes), ASFURAH (G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes), ISTINTAJ (G3 Mr Prospector H & G3 Deputy Minister S), SAHOOL and the tough and consistent MARAA-HEL. HAATEF’S half sister SHIMAH won the Listed Saoire Stakes and was second in the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes in 2008.

Derrinstown BROCHURE 2009

The theme of the 2009 Derrinstown Stud Brochure is ‘Derrinstown by Derrinstown’, so what better way to capture the hard work of all the

Derrinstown employees than to let them take the photos of the everyday activities themselves. Twenty lucky names were pulled out of the hat and each member was give a camera and films to get snapping. Peter Mooney had the difficult decision of picking the winner and spent two gruelling days sifting through over 5000 photos!! Stephen Collins, General Manager, is pic-

tured here with the five staff members who took the most creative photos. Con-gratulations again to our six finalists and we look forward to seeing your hard

work in the brochure in November 2008.
