AK grew up on a diet of seventies shorts: The Time Tunnel, Star Trek, Twilight Zone and many more.

He was probably the only 5 year old able to lace up a 16mm projector in under 10 seconds. This

interest would eventually take him to study Stills Photography and Film separately, after which he

began as a promo producer and film editor. He has directed several short films, written two feature

film screenplays and a documentary film on 'Gas Mining in the Karoo'.

Over the past 18 years he has directed over 280 commercials, won over 40 international awards,

featured at D&AD in New York, One Show, Promax both in London and Los Angeles and Cannes

Advertising Awards. His Tourism 7 Minute Short Film for  Malaysian Tourism  took two gold awards

in Berlin, Fox Crime took two gold Promax and a gold Loerie, Salvation Army’s ‘The Dress’ won two

gold loeries and this year KFC Shakin just won two more Gold Loeries.
