Old -Age Pensions for the Commonwealth) and to con- tinue the inquiry commenced by a Select Committee of the House of Representatives in relation to the said matters : to act together with the Commissioners appointed by the said Letters Patent, with the exception of the said the Honorable James Page, resigned, as aforesaid; as fully and effectually and to the same extent as if your name had been inserted in the said Letters Patent as one of the Commisioners thereby appointed : and we direct that from and after the twenty - seventh day of October, One thousand nine hundred and five, the said Letters Patent shall be read and construed as if your name appeared therein as one of the Commissioners thereby appointed. SEALED tenders, indorsed " Tender for Conveyance ofMails," are invited, and will be received at the office

of the Deputy Postmaster- General, Perth, until Noon onTuesday, the rgth December, 1905, for the conveyance ofmails, as under, for a term of one, two, or three years,at the option of the Postmaster - General, viz, :--

From the Post Office, Mt. Morgans, to the RailwayStation and vice versd daily, as often as required,by spring vehicle.

The contractor will be required to convey, without extracost to the Department, Parcels Post parcels up to eleven(II) pounds each in weight.

The arrival and departure of mails will be subject toinstructions from the Deputy. Postmaster- General, Perth,and liable to alteration at any time during the period ofcontract.

Every tender must bear the bond -fide signatures, dulywitnessed, of the tenderer and of two responsible personswilling to become bound for the due fulfilment of thecontract in a sum not exceeding the .gross amount of thetender, for the whole period over winch it extends.

Every tender must be accompanied by the written con+sent, duly witnessed, of persons proposed as bondsmen,to execute the necessary bond for the due performanceof the contract in the event of such tender being accepted.

The successful tenderer must, if the amount of histender exceeds .25, within seven days after the acceptancethereof, deposit with the Receiver, General Post Office,Perth, a sum equal to 5 per centum of the annual amountof his tender up to ¿I,000, and 22 per centum on anyfurther amount beyond , ,x,000.

White labour only must be employed in the conveyanceof mails.

The rate of wages paid by the contractor and the work-ing conditions shall be those recognised in the locality inwhich the work is performed.

The Postmaster- General reserves the right of terminat-ing the contract at any time by giving three months' noticeto the contractor.

Special forms of tender, with conditions attached, maybe obtained gratuitously upon application to the Deputy.Postmaster- General, Perth, or at any Poet Office in theState, and no tender will be entertained unless on theprescribed form.

TARGET Practice will be carried out by the AustralianGarrison Artillery, Victoria, from Fort Gellibrand,

on the following dates : -21st and 28th October ; iith, i8th,and 25th November, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6p. m.

A red flag will fly from the masthead during practice.All ships and boats should be kept at a distance of at

least 800 yards to the left and 1 mile to the right of theline of fire from a distance of 6,000 yards from the Bat-tery, in accordance with Part 6, Defence Act No. 20, 1903.

The occupants of buildings in the vicinity of the gunsshould open all doors and windows, and take necessaryprecautions to make their property secure from concussion.

All Forts from which practice is carried on will fíy ared flag from the masthead of the flagstaff. All ships andboats should be kept at a distance of at least 800 yards tothe left and 1 mile to the right of the line of fire from adistance of 6,000 yards from the Battery, in accordancewith Part VI., Defence Act No. 20, 1903. The occupantsof buildings in the vicinity of the guns should open alldoors and windows and take necessary precautions to maketheir property secure from concussion.
