MONDAY –We travel to Heathrow for our 1605 flight to Amman.On arrival, we are transferred to our hotel in Amman for 3 nights, theRamada Amman.TUESDAY – Today, we enjoy a full day tour of Jordan’s capital city,Amman. Sights include the King Abdullah Mosque, the Jordanianparliament, the National Archaeological Museum and the 2nd centuryamphitheatre, where works by the famous Greek and Roman playwrightswere performed.WEDNESDAY –We drive north to Jerash, one of the most beautiful andbest preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. Excavations uncoveredtwo theatres, several temples, churches, a market, thermal baths and theCardo Maximus alley of 600m of columns. The afternoon is free in Jerashto make the most of this impressive and extensive site.THURSDAY –Madaba is the city of mosaics and dates back to 1,200BC.We visit the main attraction of thetown, the 6th century Byzantinemosaic map of the sites in thebiblical world. We continue to MountNebo, which offers spectacular viewsof the Holy Land and where it isbelieved that Moses is buried. Wetravel via the Kings Highway toKarak, where we visit the 12thcentury Crusader castle, situated ona hilltop 1,000m above sea level.We continue to Petra for 2 nights stay at the Panorama Hotel.FRIDAY – A full day visit to Petra – ‘a rose-red city, half as old as time’.Wemake our way through the Siq, and as we reach the end of the Siq, thefirst and greatest monument of Petra, the Treasury, comes into view.Continuing through this majestic and ancient site, we’ll see monumental

tombs, palaces, temples anddramatically shaped rocks in athousand shades of pink and red.There will also be the opportunityto climb to the Monastery forstunning views.SATURDAY – Amorning visit toLittle Petra, which is hidden awayin the centre of a mountain. Itappears to have been an importantsuburb of the city of Petra and is atthe point where several ancientcaravan routes met. This evening,

From the majestic ruins of bygone civilizations to the timeless splendour of theDead Sea, Jordan is a unique destination offering breathtaking and mysterious sights. MONDAY –Wedepart in themorning for our 2.25pm flight fromHeathrow to Luxor.On arrival in Luxor, youwill bemet by a local coach for the transfer (approx 20minutes) to your cruise ship, theMS Royal Viking. Light eveningmeal on board ship.TUESDAY – An early morning start to theWest Bank of the Nile to visit the Valleyof the Kings and Queens, with the chance to visit some of the tombs of thepharaohs. In the late afternoon, we set sail along the Nile for Edfu, via Esna.WEDNESDAY – Start the morning with a visit to Edfu after which we sail to KomOmbo to visit this famed temple with its well preserved hieroglyphics and to seethe mummified crocodiles. In the evening we depart for Aswan.THURSDAY – In the morning, we visit the famous landmarks of Aswan, the HighDam, the unfinished obelisk and picturesque Philae Temple. In the afternoon,experience a traditional Nubian village (additional charge) and enjoy a Nubianshow after dinner.FRIDAY – Today take the optional excursion to the stunning temple at Abu Simbel,which was moved block by block from underwater after the creation of LakeNasser, and is a truly spectacular sight. Alternatively, spend the day at leisureperhaps taking a felucca ride around spectacular Kitchener’s island and itsBotanical Gardens, take afternoon tea in the Old Cataract Hotel where AgathaChristie wrote Death on the Nile, or perhaps hunt for bargains in the lively market.SATURDAY – The day is spent at leisure as the boat heads to Luxor via Esna andEdfu. We arrive later that evening. After dinner, enjoy the delights of a traditionalbelly dancer on board.SUNDAY – Amorning visit to Karnak Temple, the largest ancient religious site inthe world and Luxor Temple, with its impressive avenue of sphinxes. Optionalevening visit to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple (additional charge).MONDAY – After breakfast we disembark and transfer to Luxor airport for our onehour flight to Cairo. Arriving at lunchtime, we head to the Egyptian Museum,home to some of Egypt’s most incredible artefacts, including the golden mask ofTutankhamun, and the ‘Mummy Room’ (additional charge). Following our visit tothe Museum, you will be transferred to our hotel for the next 2 nights, the

Meridien Pyramids.TUESDAY – Today, we enjoy a guidedtour of the Pyramids and the Sphinxand be amazed by the history of theseincredible monuments. How theseamazing structures were built remainsa mystery, despite decades ofinvestigation. There is the opportunityto enter a pyramid, should you wish(additional charge). In the evening,enjoy the amazing spectacle of thePyramids Sound & Light Show(additional charge).

We travel to our hotel for 3 nights, the Hotel Sigiriya.MONDAY – Polonnaruwa was the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka.It was built in the 11th and 12th centuries and is a World Heritage Site.Stunning statues of Buddha carved directly from the rock can be seenhere, along with the Audience Hall, Lotus Bath and a beautiful lake. Latertoday, there is the opportunity to climb the 5th century rock fortress atSigiriya, another World Heritage Site. View the world renowned frescoesof the ‘heavenly maidens’ of Sigiriya and from the top of the rock, theviews are sublime.TUESDAY – Dambulla Rock Temple was built in the 1st century and is thethird World Heritage Site on our itinerary. Browse the shops onthe main street and admire the delicate cakes in the window displays.TUESDAY – A free day to relax and explore.WEDNESDAY – Today is the highlight of our tour. We’ll see Albert, the town which was rebuiltafter the war with money raised by the people of Birmingham, along withNotre Dame de Brebieres, home to the subterranean tunnels where thecivilian population of Albert lived during the war. Visits also include LaBoiselle, location of a crater so large it is clearly visible from outer spaceand Thiepval, the main British monument of the Somme, where thenames of the 72,000 British missing are recorded. Returning to Caen, you can spend the afternoon in the Caen MemorialMuseum, which traces wartime history from the end of WW1 right through tothe present day. Or just relax and explore Caen.SUNDAY –We travel to Arromanches, part of the Gold Beach sector, andlocation for the famous floating Mulberry Harbour. Take in the cliff top viewsbefore visiting ‘Arromanches 360’ where the 360 degree film projection willplunge you into the heart of theaction.
