E quine events continue to be a significant attraction for visitors of all ages. This year CWA has added something new: Chore Team Events. The Chore Team Events include Chore Team Competition, Feed Team Race, and Water Barrel Race. The Chore Team Competition is a test of skill and agility, involving a team of horses completing a skill-testing course, challenging both the horses and the drivers. The Feed Team Race is a head to head race where horses race through a course, stopping at three feed stations to pick up and drop off feed with the fastest team winning. Water Barrel Racing is a test of driver control, smoothness, and speed. Teams are challenged to haul a barrel of water through a timed course without spilling any water. Catch these events on Tuesday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 26. See schedule for exact times. Full Contact Jousting brings a new level of athleticism, bravery, and entertainment to Agribition. The competition does not feature choreographed jousting like you would see at dinner theatre entertainment, but rather authentic, competitive, full contact jousting. Full Contact Jousting at Agribition displays the sport’s true physical and dangerous roots. Two men and two horses will charge at each other on either side of a 180’ fence and collide at 30 miles an hour with 11’ long lances. Watch one of the most extreme, dangerous sports ever played, on Saturday, November 29. See schedule for exact times. New Events to the 2014 Show Chore Team Events and Full Contact Jousting As we come into fall, the planning of Agribition is well in hand, and I look forward to another outstanding event. The summer and fall have been full of committee meetings, phone calls and planning, and I believe we are going to raise the bar again this year. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the extensive exhibitor support we receive. On the livestock side, we have exhibitors from all across the country representing beef, sheep, goats, bison and even stock dogs, to name a few. On the trade show side, we have another sold out event. From cars to combines to jewelry we appreciate all our exhibitors. From our 40 year to our first year exhibitors, all of you bring the show to life and make this event the best show in the country. This is something we can all be proud of. On behalf of the Board and staff at CWA, I would like to thank the volunteers and all the exhibitors for their hard work and dedication to make this show a success. The enhancements and growth would not be possible without their continued support. Equine events continue to be a signifi cant attraction for visitors of all ages. This year CWA has added

of driver control, smoothness, and speed. Teams are

even stock dogs, to name a few. On the trade show side, we have another sold out event. From

Community InvolvementCanadian Western Agribition (CWA) takes part in I Love Regina Day, Regina Folk Festival, Regina 2014 North

American Indigenous Games (NAIG) and the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The CWA team strives to make a footprint in the community and show support for

those who have supported the show over the years. The staff , with support from

the Directors, set up a tent and display at I Love Regina Day on July 19, 2014. A few

months later, CWA set up a similar display at Regina Folk Festival on August 9 and

10, 2014. The displays featured a temporary tattoo application station, a wooden

horse for photo opportunities, as well as hay bales and a dummy roping area. Both

events were a success, entertaining hundreds of kids over the 3 days.

The CWA staff also dedicated

volunteer hours at the Regina

2014 North American

Indigenous Games (NAIG).

The staff off ered various support

including creating meals for the

volunteers and athletes, working various receptions, and entering data in the results centre. It

is important to CWA to support the Indigenous community as they contribute to the culture of

the show. From the First Nations Pavilion to the Indigenous Agriculture Summit, First Nations

play an integral part in CWA programming.

In August 2014 a new phenomenon hit the social media

circuit - the “Ice Bucket Challenge.” The challenge involves

people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video,

posting that video to social media, then nominating others

to do the same, all in an eff ort to raise funds and awareness

for ALS. People can either accept the challenge or make a

donation to an ALS Charity of their choice, or do both. CEO,

Marty Seymour and the CWA management team were

nominated by Evraz Place and are proud to say both were

completed. “We were skeptical at fi rst to participate in what

seemed like an attention seeking trend on Facebook, but

after learning more about families suff ering with ALS and

understanding the positive impact of this viral campaign,

we decided to participate,” says Marty. CWA’s

donation has contributed to the total of $114

million that has been raised so far for ALS

from the Ice Bucket Challenge. Visit Canadian

Western Agribition on Facebook to watch CWA’s

Ice Bucket Challenge video.

Agribition as a World-Class EventIncoming Buyers Program for International Buyers

STARS Air Ambulance Benefi ts From Charity Auction

International buyers and industry representatives have the opportunity to participate in the Agribition Incoming Buyers Program. Canadian

Western Agribition (CWA) coordinates with Canadian breeders, genetics companies, and equipment manufacturers to support international buyers

in their travel and attendance at the show. The program off ers fi nancial support as well as customized service and access to specialized itineraries

including farm and industry tours. Qualifi ed buyers taking part in the program are eligible for 50% of their travel expenses up to $1,500 CDN. For

more information on the program and the application form go to www.agribition.com >> International >> Guests

STARS Air Ambulance will once again be the benefi ciary for the annual Winners Circle charity auction. The charity auction is part of the Winners

Circle Auctioneer Competition, presented by Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers.

Winners Circle brings together some of North America’s top auctioneers for a competition

of tongue-twisting talent. The auctioneers will be selling off the naming rights for teams

in the horse pull competitions as well as charity items for STARS Air Ambulance.

At the 2013 annual Winners Circle Auctioneer

Competition, CWA raised $4,925 for STARS.

Agribition was the host to numerous other

events to raise money for STARS as well: The

Canadian Bison Association raised $15,000

for STARS as part of its national convention

held during Agribition, and Bouchard Livestock raised $10,200 for STARS through the sale of a signed

‘Shologan’ Saskatchewan Roughrider jersey during their Simmental Sale at Agribition.

Volunteer Program ImprovementsVolunteer Database Changes See Positive Results

In an attempt to improve volunteer communication and placement of CWA’s

extensive volunteer support, the organization has implemented a new

volunteer management database. Like all new systems, the potential exists

for errors and omissions in the information CWA has on fi le for individual

volunteers. CWA encourages all volunteers to validate and verify their

personal information and years of service with their respective committee

chairs or CWA staff prior to or during the show. Volunteers are the lifeblood

of the organization. Show organizers would like to ensure a smooth

transition to the new system. Your patience is appreciated.
