Jampui Hills are a tourist attraction because
of the incredible views afforded from the
different peaks of the range (especially thesunrise and the sunsets). At the highest
peak, there is a watch tower , from which
you will get fantastic views of the valey
below and several small little villages of
Mizoram. Apart from that, the orange
plantations in this area are a tourist magnet
as well.
However if mountain climbing is not your
cup of tea, then there are numerous small
villages inhabited by the Lushai or Mizo
people. You can take a peek around one or
two such villages and marvel at the
picturesque beauty surrounding you. To
encourage more tourism, the government
has provided a tourist lodge in the
Vanghmun village. Or, you could also stay as
a paying guest in the homes of the Mizo
people. The rainy season and the month of
November (for the Orange festival) is the
best time to visit this place.
2 Unakoti
8 kms from Kailashahar, Agartala,
Tripura, 799001, India
The name 'Unakoti' is a Bengali word,
meaning one less than a crore. It is a
Shaivite pilgrim spot full of ancient rock cut
sculptures and stone carvings. Apart from
its religious significance, the place is also a
tourist magnet because of its surrounding
natural beauty with rolling mountains, lush
greenery and waterfalls.
There are a number of rock cut and stonesculptures on this hill. A special mention
goes to the 30 feet high statue of Shiva,
called the Unakotishwara Kal Bhairava. The
headdress on the statue alone is 10 feet
high. On either side, there are two female
figurines, one of Goddess Durga standing on
a lion, and other remains unidentified.
There are gigantic scuptures of Lord
Ganesha and the Nandi Bull as well. It is said
there one less than a crore sculptures of
various Gods and Goddesses in the area.
Today it is managed by the ASI and is
declared as a heritage site. Every year
during the month of April, Unakoti plays
host to the Ashokashtami Mela, a huge fair
visited by thousands of pilgrims every year.
3 The Ujjayanta Palace

This former Royal Palace and current
Tripura State Assembly, the
Ujjayanta Palaceis in the heart of the
city of Agartala and the entire hustle bustle
of the city is focused around this
palace.
Built in 1901, it has magnificent tiled floors,
curved wooden ceilings and lovely doors.
4 The Neer Mahal
Agartala, Tripura, India
The Neer Mahal, literally meaning Water
Fort, is situated some 55 km from Agartala.
It is surrounded by Rudrasagar lake on all
sides.
