• Valid static IP address. The software will not function properly without a valid static IP address. Do not use DHCP.
A dynamic IP address, using DHCP, is not supported because of client disconnects from servers. This is a known problem with DHCP and D/COM. If DHCP is chosen, there will be disconnect errors (the frequency or rate of errors experienced while using DHCP has not been tested). A refresh of the display might recover from the error. However, it may be necessary to exit and restart the application.
The following software must be installed before installing the AdvaBuild software:
• Client/Server Installations: Windows Server 2016.
• Client Installations: Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
• McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
• Adobe Reader, is installed with 800xA Common Install.
Any additional hardware or software requirements for optional AdvaBuild applications are described in their respective user’s guides
Section 1 Introduction RTA PREREQUISITES
3BUR001977R3701 RevB 27
RTA PREREQUISITESThe ABB-PAS System Services software supplied with AdvaBuild includes drivers to support the external RTA unit (PU410/412).
External RTA Unit RequirementsThe PU410/412 external RTA unit uses standard NIC cards as the interface to the PC. Thus the RTA unit is not affected by PC hardware changes that revise supported hardware interface specifications as long as NIC card support is available.
Before you install AdvaBuild 3.7 SP2 and PAS on the AdvaBuild server PC review this AdvaBuild Administrator User Guide and the PU410/412 RTA Unit User Guide, 3BUA001442. The PC will need to be fitted with dual NIC cards for communication support between the AdvaBuild server PC and the RTA unit. Additionally the ABB product RNRP must be installed, see Install RNRP Software on page 46. RNRP will report on the health of the dual network connections between the PC and the RTA unit. The NIC card configuration and RNRP installation must be done prior to AdvaBuild and PAS installation.
NIC Card ConfigurationConfigure the NIC card IP addresses as described in PU410/412 RTA Unit User Guide, 3BUA001442. Configure these prior to installing the AdvaBuild software.
Changing the External RTA Unit Default IP AddressFor most installations the default RTA unit IP addresses may be used. In some 800xA RNRP installations in which network area 10 has already been configured for use, the RTA Unit IP addresses will need to be changed.
The procedure for changing the RTA Unit IP address is described in the PU410/PU412 RTA Unit User Guide. If it becomes necessary to change the default
During PAS software installation the external RTA unit PU410/412 drivers will be installed.
The IP addresses for the NIC card interface to the RTA unit must be included in the firewall exception list.
Licensing Section 1 Introduction

IP addresses, double click on the ManagementTool.exe file and follow the instructions in the PU410/PU412 RTA Unit User Guide. The ManagementTool.exe can be found at:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ABB 800xA\SystemServices\DxBase\bin"
LicensingLicensing is enforced at the server. The license features available for AdvaBuild are:
• ABNTSU - Control Builder Clients.• ABNTSC - MOD 300 Subsystem nodes.• ABNTST - TCL Client option.• ABNTSL - TLL Client option.
The license features available for AdvaBuild MOD 300 Engineering Displays are:• ABMEDU - MOD 300 Engineering Displays Clients• ABMEDT - TCL client displays option• ABMEDL - TLL client displays option
Client LicensingClient licenses are regulated by quantity based on the number of Control Builders that can be connected to a server. The license is per user per machine. If a user has multiple Control Builders open at once on one machine, only one license is required.
TCL and TLL Builder licenses are options to the Control Builder license, not quantities. This means that the quantity associated with Control Builder is the implicit quantity for TCL Builder and for TLL Builder. If there are four Control Builder licenses and the TCL Builder option, it is possible to connect four TCL Builders to the server.
Checking for client licenses is done at the time of server connection. TCL and TLL Builders are able to operate in a client-only, disconnected state without requiring a license.
Utilities like project load, project save, cross reference, and multi-edit are not subject to license checking. Server operations like the compiler and decompiler are
Section 1 Introduction Node licensing
3BUR001977R3701 RevB 29
not subject to license checking. Any direct Oracle connections (e.g., SQL*Plus, SQL*Net, ODBC) are not subject to license checking.
Node licensingNode licensing refers to the number of MOD300 subsystems that can be configured by a CDP. Node licenses are regulated by quantity.
A node license is defined as a configured MOD300 subsystem. Specifically, the following template types are counted to determine the number of configured subsystems: AC410, AC460, CONSOLE, CONT_SS, DCN_DCN, ADVANT_D2D, GENERICD. Controller subsystems count as one node license. Controller cards are not counted.
Checking for node license is done at install time. If the number of configured subsystems exceeds the number of node licenses, the install will not be scheduled. Top down, area level, subsystem level, and node level installs are subject to license checking. Loop level installs are not subject to license checking.
Security SettingsIn versions previous to AdvaBuild 3.3, local/domain users had to have Windows administrative privileges on the server. This requirement was removed at AdvaBuild 3.4. Instead, an AdvaBuild administrative user is added during installation and is used to control allowed connections by the clients to the AdvaBuild server applications using DCOM. A client user still needs to be listed on the server; however, the user can be part of the Users Group.
AdvaBuild UserThe AdvaBuild user account is added during installation of the Control Builder Client/Server and assigned a password during the installation. This user is given membership in the Administrators and ORA_DBA groups. The ability to Log on Locally is granted in the security settings for Local Security Policy and should be restricted to this user and specified administrative users (not client users) to maintain the server security. The password can be changed by an administrative user from the Users and Passwords dialog and by executing SecuritySetup.exe in AdvaBuild\Install\DCOM. If there is a failure to connect, check the Event Viewer for a Logon failure: ... message and see if it was password related.
Client User Section 1 Introduction
30 3BUR001977R3701 RevB
Client UserEvery client user needs to be added as a user on the server. Client users have their own access privileges and do not require the administration rights of the AdvaBuild user account. The client user can be part of a domain or workgroup. The domain user must be part of the domain and a member of the Users group on the server.
In the Local Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options, the policy Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts must be set to Classic - local users authenticate as themselves if the user is not running on a domain. This security option allows the same username and password authentication to work in the absence of a domain. It needs to be set on both the client and server.
AdvaBuild Users GroupThe AdvaBuild Users group was added with the release of AdvaBuild 3.4. The client user must be a member of this group on the server computer to be able to connect to AdvaBuild.
DCOM SettingsSecurity settings are now enforced independently and the AdvaBuild user becomes the specified user account for process administration using DCOM on the server (see the Identity tab on DCOM application properties). Additionally, custom access permissions are enforced (see the Security tab) and the following names are allowed access: INTERACTIVE, NETWORK and SYSTEM. There is no need to change or verify these settings.
Never create a user name that is the same as the host name of the machine (the full computer name). This will cause a licensing error message when trying to use the program.
