Dear Parents, Students & FriendsA S S A L A M U A L A I K U M

C A R P A R K The Administration carpark is closed each school day between 9.00am and 3.15pm, to allow our senior students more space during recess and lunch. Guests are still able to access the administration building during the day by parking in front of the mosque and walking through the mosque gates.

S P E E D I N GOver the course of the year, we have found many parents speeding in the car parks. As you can imagine this is extremely dangerous especially when smaller children pop out between cars. Please follow the actions of our staff on duty and keep in line with the speed on the school grounds at all times.

S P A R E C L O T H I N GWe have many younger students presenting to the front office due to bathroom accidents. For parents with children in Foundation and Year 1, can you please provide an extra pair of pants, underwear and socks in their school bags.

L A T E A R R I V A L S A N D E A R L Y D I S M I S S A L S We are still experiencing many students arriving late each day. School commences at 8.50am and all students are expected to arrive ontime. If you are finding heavy traffic in the mornings, try the new carpark and if you can leave 10 minutes earlier each day, this will ensure an early arrival.

If your child is required to be collected early due to an appointment, please advise the Administration Office so they can have your child waiting for you in the foyer. Students who fall ill during the day will be contacted by the Nursing staff for collection from the First Aid Department.

S T U D E N T A P P O I N T M E N T STo avoid disruption to your child’s learning it is requested that medical or other appointments for your children are made outside of school hours.

S T U D E N T L U N C H E S We are being inundated with parents arriving at the front office thorughout the entire day with their child’s lunch. Please ensure that your child has a healthy packed lunch in their school bag before they leave home in the morning. This creates a lot of wasted time for our staff.

V I S I T O R SAny parent, guardian or visitor must report to the Administration Office and sign in prior to entering the College grounds. This is necessary especially in the event of an emergency and also for the safety of all our staff and students.

should be excluded from school until treatment has commenced.

If your child suffers from hayfever, please ensure that they have their dose of antihistamine before school. This will cover them for the entire day.

At Al-Taqwa College, we support all students who suffer from food allergies and Anaphylaxis. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students. While ‘banning’ particular foods and declaring schools to be ‘nut-free’ is not recommended as it is not possible, we however seek your support and assistance from packing certain foods such as eggs, nuts and Nutella or peanut butter sandwiches. This is for health and safety reasons, but especially to safeguard those children with food allergies.

Feel free to call me on 9269 5055 or book an appointment with me if you need assistance with any of the above. Have an active, fun and safe holiday. Don’t forget to treat your brain to a really good book!

Happy holidays

Assalamu alaikum, Alhamdulillah, another school year has come to an end and what an amazing year it has been. To ensure next year starts smoothly, we seek your cooperation and understanding. Here are some reminders that I would like to bring to your attention.

If your child has a medical condition, please provide the school with an updated Action Plan and Medical Kit (Ventolin, spacer & Epipen) at the start of the year. Please note Action Plans are only valid for a year from the date of review, aske your Doctor to review your child at the start of the year as this will cover the child for the whole year.

If your child requires medication during school hours such as antibiotics, please supply the medication in its original packaging with clear instructions including dosage, frequency etc. If the medication is to be taken daily, please also provide the College with a letter from your doctor.

To minimise the spread of head lice, please ensure you check your child’s hair for head lice before the school term starts. If you suspect or found head lice on your child, please start treatment as soon as possible and only use treatments made specifically for removing head lice. As set out in the Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulation 2001 Exclusion Table, students identified with live head lice

As we arrive at the finish line, the Primary Islamic Department has much to share with you all about our time in term 4! Looking back, we have had a most eventful year overall and have loved having our students take part with full enthusiasm and excitement alhamdulilah.

Many of our students would have noticed some change in the morning dua this term as our Religion teachers became stars on the interactive whiteboards. They shared some important reminders from the Quran and Hadith about Islamic character, honesty and keeping good ties with our brothers and sisters in Islam. We hope our students benefitted from these segments and had some time to reflect on themselves.

At the spectacular Vision Night Ceremony, the Primary Islamic Department in conjunction with our talented Media Department, released the latest Al-Taqwa Production – ‘An Egyptian MisAdventure’. This most entertaining and comical video showcased some of what our Year 6 students have covered in their Arabic lessons this year. You can find the link to this on the Al-Taqwa website or the school Facebook page. Please feel free to watch and share it with your family and friends!

During the Year 6 Graduation, we were overjoyed with our student’s achievements as they were presented with the Juz Amma certification and prize from Mr Hallak. These students were successful in memorizing all of the surahs taught throughout Primary mashallah! Also, we would like to pass on a huge Congratulations to all of our sweet Year 6 students who have now officially graduated from Primary School! We are extremely proud of the young students and wish them the very best on their journey in secondary school.

This terms surah completion for Surat Al-Mulk, was another huge success as many of our students have now memorised up to 30 verses. The students were tested by their teachers and the all winners were awarded with a certificate and prize at their year level assembly. May Allah reward our teachers and parents for their ongoing support in helping our students memorize from the Holy Quran. \We would like to wish all of our students, parents and families a relaxing and joyful end of year break. Our teachers would love for you to encourage your children to continue practising their Arabic and Quran and implementing knowledge they have learnt throughout the year. We hope to see you all, fresh and ready for a pleasant 2019, inshaAllah.

At the moment we are facing an alarming resistance with the three issues that, if not corrected collaboratively, will impact your child’s future education at Al-Taqwa. The school is taking a greater stance on these three issues as they form the basis of a model student at Al-Taqwa. We ask for your assistance in 2019 by discussing with your child the significance and respect for the school rules. The 3 basic fundamental elements when attending school and being ready to learn are as follows:

F U L L S C H O O L U N I F O R MStudents must present themselves in full school uniform at all times. This means that ONLY the correct school uniform items are to be worn. For example, the correct haircut, shirt, trousers, school jumper, blazer and school socks and black leather school shoes for boys. For girls we expect the correctly worn scarf, shirt, tunic dress, school jumper, blazer, black plain tights and long correct socks and blacks leather school shoes. NO SHORT TIGHTS OR SKIRTS PLEASE.

Please note: Sports uniform items can only be worn on the day your child has sport. Therefore the sports jacket should only be worn on sport days as also sports shoes

L A T E N E S S T O S C H O O LStudents must be brought to school before class starts. Class will start at 8.50am. We expect all students should be dropped to school by 8.40am the latest. We are aware of the increasing traffic and the fact that many children may need to be prepared and dropped to school, however you need to ensure your child understands the expectation and rule. Consistent lateness to school is unacceptable

L A T E N E S S T O C L A S SStudents often need to be reminded that playtime is over and class time is commencing. Bells are in place, warning bells too, however students can often ignore these bells and Yard Duty teacher warnings. The College has come to a decision that consistent lateness to class will not be tolerated.

B E P R E P A R E D F O R C L A S SThis means have pens, pencil case, all items such as books and laptops all ready from Day One! Please help your child get organised and reward them for their efforts. The more organised they are the better they will perform at school.

CONSISTENT BREACHING of such school rules will not be tolerated and we need your support to improve the quality in presentation of our students.

Please ensure you support us in the bid to help create young Law abiding, respectful, Australian Muslim members of our society we live in. We pray you all have a safe holiday break wit your children and we look forward to a positive year of improvement and change at Al-Taqwa

Yours sincerely
