Accessing your Files from HomeGalloway Township Public Schools

The District provides a service for accessing common programs and user’s files from any Remote Location with

Internet Access.Please use the directions in this slide show to access

this service.

Windows and MAC

• These Instructions will work with both Windows-Based Computers and Apple MACS.

• Windows-Based Computers come with the Remote Desktop Client built in and these instructions will tell you where to find it on your computer.

• Apple MACS need to click on this link -http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18140 - to download and install the Remote Desktop Client on your MAC.

• Once installed on your MAC, continue with these instructions.

Remote Desktop Connection

• On your Home Computer, navigate your way to the Remote Desktop Connection icon. This is usually found in the Accessories Folder on the Start Menu.

• Type in staff.gtps.k12.nj.us (This is not case sensitive.)• Click Connect

Possible Screens

• This Screen may appear if you are on Windows 7 or Windows 8. It should not appear if you are still on Windows XP.

• Click on Yes

Login Screen

• Type in your GTPS User Name and Password and Click on OK.

Disclaimer Screen

• Click OK after reading the Disclaimer Screen

Connecting to your Files at School

• When you log on to the Remote Desktop Connection, you are not connecting to your District Computer. You are logging on to a PC specifically designed to do this.

• You will, however, have access to all your Drives. U Drive, School Common, School Work, GT Common, etc.

Programs Available

• There are basic programs available to you when using Remote Desktop Connection.

• Microsoft Office 2010, the SMARTS Trio of Student Recordkeeping, Budgetary Accounting and Personnel Recordkeeping and several others are there to use.

Printing

• You will not be able to print while logged in to Remote Desktop Connection.

• DO NOT try to install a printer.

• You can print your work when you log on to your district PC in your classroom.

Logging Off

• Begin the Logoff process by clicking on the Start Menu button in the lower left corner of the screen.

• A new window will open (see next slide) with a Log Off button.

• DO NOT just close by clicking on the X at the top of the screen. This will not log you off correctly.

work, please Log Off.• We have a limited amount

of licenses for this service and we want everyone to have the opportunity to use it.
