By Hotspotorlando

I find it is necessary to share this with you, we need to think and to take a step back

"Is This The World We Created?"Queen

Just think of all those hungry mouths we have to feedTake a look at all the suffering we breed

So many lonely faces scattered all aroundSearching for what they need.

Is this the world we createdWhat did we do it for

Is this the world we invadedAgainst the law

So it seems in the endIs this what we're all living for today

The world that we created.

You know that everyday a helpless child is bornWho needs some loving care inside a happy homeSomewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne

Waiting for life to go by.

Is this the world we created, we made it on our ownIs this the world we devasted, right to the bone

If there's a God in the sky looking downWhat can he think of what we've done

To the world that He created.

Rio Welcomes 2014 with Thousands

watching one of the Greatest

Firework exhibition in the world.

• The spectacle of fireworks was syn-

chronized to a spe-cial soundtrack for the first and last 16 minutes of the new

year. The burning was accompanied

by a lighting show, at which point the

lights were dancing in the sky, alternate-ly using contrasts to

be complementary to the colors of the fireworks and mu-sic. Sustainable ac-

tions, such as carbon offsets and recycling

Canvases, were ap-plied throughout the

process of assembly and disassembly of

the event.Foto de Ricardo Cassiano - Riotur

The iconic New Year's Eve fireworks display by Emaar Properties, the global proper-ty developer, at Burj Khalifa, the world's

tallest building and Downtown Dubai, capti-vated the world and put the international spot-light on Dubai, alongside the largest fireworks display and celebrations held in the city at The Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands, and Burj Al Arab.

With millions of visitors - both residents and tourists - building the excitement in Downtown Dubai, the Burj Khalifa fireworks display was a true spectacle of artistic creativity. Ten stun-ningly different firework sequences on Burj Khalifa marked the run-up to a musical count-down for the New Year.

Each display also told the world a story - of the UAE’s inspiring success, Dubai’s positivity and ambition, and the design narrative of Burj Khalifa, which is choreographed to the capti-vating melody of symphonic orchestra music of Downtown Dubai, ‘The Centre of Now.’

Abdulla Lahej, Group Chief Executive Offi-cer, Emaar Properties, said: “The celebrations in Dubai now serve as a true benchmark for New Year’s Eve galas across the world. Colour-ful, spectacularly planned, and creatively ex-

ecuted, the events alsounderline the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure a pos-itive, inspirational, and high-growth environ-ment in the city, for people from around the world.”

Starting off with a dramatic countdown through a display of effects racing up to the pinnacle of Burj Khalifa, 828 metres high, the fireworks began with spectacular sequences including a colourful salute to the nation with the colours of the UAE National Flag.

Silver pearls lend an unmatched ambience in a sparkling celebration of Dubai’s success, es-pecially with its win to host the World Expo 2020. Another stunning display was the trib-ute to Burj Khalifa, with the fireworks evolv-ing into petals, wrapping the tower much like the Hymenocallis desert flower, which inspired the design of the building.

In the grand finale, fireworks lit up every direc-tion dramatically and a golden lattice formed across the sky. Rainbow effects filled all over Downtown Dubai as Dubai ushered in 2014.

Resolve to go organic in 2014The Organic Center's 10 New Year's Resolutions to last a lifetimeWhat is a New Year's Resolution you can make today that can last a lifetime--and beyond? Going organic--which is good for you, your family and the planet. For 2014, The Organic Center, the trusted source of information for scientific research about organic food and farming, offers 10 everyday, re-search-backed organic resolutions in-dividuals can follow:

One: Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and make sure they're organic. This New Year's resolution is multi-fac-eted, dealing with the health benefits of eating more produce while avoid-ing exposure to pesticides. Eating fruit and vegetables is generally healthy for you, and a study published in 2013 in the American Journal of Epidemiolo-gy shows that it can reduce the risk of death! Specifically, the study showed that daily consumption of fruit and vegetables can decrease risks of mor-tality by 10 percent, and delay mor-tality by 1.12 years.

Researchers also found that for every 200 gram increase of produce con-sumed, risk of death goes down by 6 percent. Interestingly, there was a stronger correlation between longev-ity and eating fresh fruit and vegeta-bles than for cooked produce. When you're choosing your vegetables and

fruit, make sure they're organic! This year it's especially important to reach for organic produce. This is because in 2013, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) raised the permitted tolerance levels of glyphosate residue in many fruits and vegetables. This is especially worrisome, because 2013 also saw several studies documenting troubling health associations with gly-phosate exposure, such as estrogenic activity that could induce breast can-cer cell growth, gut bacteria changes, and many other modern diseases.

Two: Balance your omega- 3 and omega-6 fatty acid intake.Balancing your omega-3 and ome-ga-6 fatty acid intake is important be-cause omega-3 fatty acid deficiencies can have negative health consequenc-es, including inflammation, higher risk of heart disease, weight gain, de-pression, and diabetes. Healthy ome-ga-6:omega-3 ratios are low, around 2.3:1, but unhealthy diet trends have increased that ratio to between 10 and 15:1.

One of the most ground-breaking studies of 2013 showed that drinking organic milk plays an important role in balancing unhealthy omega fatty acid ratios. Specifically, researchers found that organic milk contained 25 percent less omega-6 fatty acids and 62 percent more omega-3 fatty acids

than conventional milk, yielding a 2.5-fold higher omega-6:omega-3 ra-tio in conventional compared to or-ganic milk.

The study also took a look at how adult women could alter their diet to in-crease their consumption of omega-3 fatty acids. Researchers found that by consuming high levels of organic milk with reduced intake of omega-6 fatty acids in their diet, women could de-crease their omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid profile by around 80 percent.

Three: Save the soil. The soil is a part of our Earth that does not get a lot of attention, yet is a crit-ical component of the health of our agriculture and natural ecosystems. Eating organic can help improve soil quality by building organic matter and supporting the soil micro biome. This has been supported by several studies to come out in 2013.

For example, a study published in Crop Management showed that long-term organic management resulted in 40 percent more biologically active soil organic matter as well as lower acidi-ty and higher amounts of carbon, ni-trogen, potassium, phosphorous and calcium when compared to conven-tionally managed soil.

Page 31: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Four: Focus on future generations.

When you choose your food in 2014, it will be important to think not only about how the chemicals you are ex-posed to affect you, but also the effects your exposure might have on future generations.

New research in 2013 has shown that it is possi-ble for your de-scendants to be affected by the chemicals that their ancestors were exposed to, even if the future gener-ations were never direct-ly exposed to the pollutants themselves.

This concept of disease inher-itance is one of the most in-teresting (and f r i g hte n i ng ) new phenom-ena to be discovered in the past few years.

An example of this was described in a study published in 2013 that showed DDT exposure could increase rates of obesity several generations down the line. Researchers in the study exposed

rats to DDT, and found that it caused an increase in dramatic fat accumula-tion and weight gain three generations later.

Keep in mind that most of the studies examining this concept have focused on animal tests, so the conclusions don't necessarily translate to humans.

However, it's probably a good idea to avoid toxic pesticides so that we don't inadvertently pass on environmental diseases to our children and grandchil-dren!Five: Listen to the frogs.Studies published in 2013 suggest that the use of synthetic pesticides may be

contributing to the decline in amphib-ian populations. Amphibian popula-tions have seen a dramatic decline in the past decade. Many scientists are wor-ried that several species of frogs could go extinct in the next few years if we don't change our agricultural practic-es. Even frogs living in remote areas are exposed to toxic pesticides, according

to a 2013 study published in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.

Unfortunately, pesticide expo-sure can result in increased a m p h i b i a n mortality, and even low-dose exposure can result in en-docrine dis-ruption. These effects were modeled by a 2013 article published in Scientific Re-ports.

When the researchers modeled agri-cultural spray scenarios using the rec-ommended application rates for the pesticides, they found that frogs expe-rienced high mortality, ranging from 100 percent after one hour to 40 per-cent after seven days.

Page 32: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Concluding that pesticides may have a large-scale negative effect on amphibi-an health, they stated, “Terrestrial pes-ticide exposure might be underesti-mated as a driver of their decline.”

The researchers called for more atten-tion to this issue in conservation efforts, and pointed out that risk assessment procedures in place do not protect this vanishing animal group.

Six: Avoid antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

In 2013, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a report detailing the threats of antibiotic-resistant diseases on the public.

Another study, published in the jour-nal PNAS, showed that intensive land use can reduce the biodiversity of soil organisms and can have a negative im-pact on nitrogen and carbon cycling. Finally, researchers at Kansas State University published a study showing that the use of conventional fertiliz-ers can decrease soil macro aggregate stability, which is a key indicator of soil structural quality because it af-fects how resistant soil is to erosion and how well water is able to move through the soil.• One of the factors contributing to antibiotic resistance is the broad ap-plication of low doses of antibiotics in rearing animals.

About 80 percent of all antibiotics sold are used in livestock facilities,

and antibiotic resistance has been linked to this use of antibiotics in conventional animal rearing. Many people are infected with antibiotic strains of bacteria each year, which can be especially dangerous to chil-dren. Studies have also found that because organic management does not use antibiotics, antibiotic-resis-tant strains of bacteria are less prev-alent in organically produced milk, eggs, and meat than conventionally produced products.

Several studies this year have sup-ported the claim that conventional livestock operations are more risky when it comes to antibiotic resis-tance. For example, one study by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health found antibiotic-resistant bacteria associated with industrial livestock workers, but not antibiotic-free live-stock workers.

The U.S. Food and Drug Adminis-tration has responded to these con-cerns by announcing its commit-ment to phasing out the agricultural use of antibiotics, but currently one of the only ways to ensure your ani-mal products are antibiotic free is by choosing organic!

Seven: Bee friendly.

Unfortunately, 2013 saw a continued trend of bee population decline. Many gardeners, farmers, and communi-

ty members have been concerned by this because, without bees, many im-portant crops would disappear, such as apples, almonds, blueberries, cher-ries, avocados, and oranges.

Some of the awareness campaigns ad-dressing honey bee loss have been es-pecially poignant, such as the pictures of a Whole Foods Market in Rhode Island that pulled all bee-dependent fruit and vegetables off its shelves for a day, revealing a near-empty produce department.

One of the most recent studies exam-ining honey bee population declines showed that a combination of insecti-cides and fungicides can have a nega-tive impact on bees’ immune systems, resulting in decreased ability to re-sist infection by the parasite Nosema ceranae implicated in colony collapse disorder. Researchers found that the pollen bees collect to feed to their larvae contained an average of nine different pesticide contaminants, and made bees three times as likely to be infected by the parasites.

Page 33: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Eight: Shrink the dead zone.

Dead zones are low-oxygen zones in the ocean caused primarily by nu-trient pollution from synthetic fer-tilizers. Oxygen levels in these areas are so low that most aquatic life can-not survive, creating an area devoid of life. They affect large areas of the

ocean, especially in the Gulf of Mex-ico and Chesapeake Bay, and have been growing in size since 1985.

In addition to being environmen-tally devastating, Dead Zones affect commercial and recreational fisher-ies and can hurt the local economy. The Chesapeake Bay Dead Zone, for example, threatens a multi-year ef-fort to restore the Bay’s water quality and enhance its production of crabs, oysters and other important fisher-ies.

In 2013, researchers found that ex-

cess nitrogen is impacting the Mis-sissippi River and worsening the Gulf of Mexico’s Dead Zone. These scientists found record levels of ni-trogen in the watershed, driven by a combination of drought from 2012 and high rainfalls from the spring of 2013. Nitrogen is making its way into the waterways from synthetic fertil-izer spread on conventional farms, polluting local aquatic areas and eventually contributing to the Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico. Measures of the 2013 Dead Zone found that it had doubled in size from 2012, like-ly due to nitrogen and phosphorus pollution run-off from agricultural sources.

One way to reduce the amount of ni-trogen polluting our waterways is by choosing organic. The Organic Cen-ter is currently conducting a proj-ect quantifying the amount that or-ganic production decreases nitrogen pollution. Preliminary reports show that organic vegetables and grains contribute over 50% less nitrogen pollution than produce grown con-ventionally!

Nine: Stabilize the climate.

Climate change will continue to be a major concern in 2014, and research-ers have been focusing on ways to mitigate the issue. Some of the work done on this subject in 2013 suggest-ed that organic production may be a key part of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For example, a study from

Germany showed that organic farm-ing not only produces less greenhouse gases, but also uses less energy than conventional farming techniques. The benefit of organic is especially ap-parent in dairy farming, as the organ-ic farms in the study emitted around 200 grams less CO2 per kilogram of milk than conventional farms with the same milk yield.

Another study, by Professor Dalgaard of Aarhus University, showed that con-version to organic from conventional farming typically results in lower total fossil energy use and reduced green-house gas emissions. Finally, a 2013 research study by the Research Insti-tute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) showed that organically managed soils release 492 kg less carbon diox-ide per hectare per year than conven-tionally managed soils. Researchers also found that the uptake of meth-ane on organic farms was higher than on conventional farms. Agriculture is one of the major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, so choos-ing organic could mitigate the future threat of climate change!

Page 34: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Ten: Go bird watching.

Organic agriculture is better for birds, according to a 2013 study from France. This is not a new idea, and many pa-pers have cited examples of the bene-fits that organic farming plays on bird species. However, the 2013 study is the first complete synthesis of avail-able research examining the relation-ship between farming practices and bird population health.

The researchers focused on birds in Europe and North America to test whether organic agriculture is more favorable to farmland birds com-pared to conventional agriculture, and found that organic farming tech-niques benefit birds on a large scale. Researchers found that organic agri-culture had a global positive effect on bird abundance compared to conven-tional agriculture with ten out of the 36 species they examined showing a significantly higher abundance on organic farms than on conventional farms. The study cited “bird-friend-

ly” practices used by organic tech-niques--such as diverse crop rota-tions, reduced use of pesticides, and the creation of more heterogeneous landscapes--as being responsible for these benefits.

The Organic Center’s mission is to convene credible, evidence-based sci-ence on the health and environmental benefits of organic food and farming and to communicate the findings to

the public. As an indepen-dent non-profit 501(c)(3) research and education or-ganization operating un-der the administrative aus-pices of the Organic Trade Association, The Center envisions improved health for the earth and its inhab-itants through the conver-sion of agriculture to or-ganic methods.

Convidamos a uma reflexão so-

Vanuza Barbara

Page 40: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Page 41: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

PATRICIA MOURA - A Better Living

Met the mining Vanuza Barba-ra during the third edition of the Paraty EcoFashion that happened in September last year in Paraty/ RJ and I was mesmerized by her work presented at the Creative Fair, one of the event actions for sustainable fashion.

I saw a collection full of personality and style, perfect for women with attitude. Embroidered and hand painted well fitted with a clean fin-ish, that became the object of de-

sire of all women, foreign and Bra-zilian, who visited the fair which took place in the days of The Eco-Fashion, thus the beautiful work by Vanuza Barbara, combined with the high environmental value, and ot is with great pleasure that I pres-ent to you the designer and motiva-tional Carne Seca Cultural Project, designed by her:

Carne Seca Cultural Project

Fashion, culture and sustainabili-ty. Tailoring these three ideas, this

project investigates the identity of Brazilian fashion, rescuing essence focusing in our culture.

We invite you for a reflection on the identity in the current Brazilian fashion, especially in cultural man-ifestations of our people and the richness of our handicrafts, such as embroidery and crochet.

With cuts, prints and unique em-broidery, Vanuza Barbara has al-ways imprinted her pieces, plus a combination of colors and shapes marking their identity and the re-gion they live. This time she will not be alone : to foster the setting of re-gional fashion, the designer joined the Group of Women Embroiderers Making Art Ipatinga, a cooperative of women who see embroidery as a new way of life .

Working together, they gave a new look to fabric discarded by ProVest Factory Uniforms, applying tech-niques developed in their work-shops and performing an exchange of information with the designer and her story .

As inspiration for the development of this project, the designer is based on the artist’s work, architect and stage designer Flavio Império.

Working with shortage of resources as a creative possibilityand Impe-rio’s trade mark, had a direct influ-ence in Vanuza Barbara.

Page 43: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

At the end of the 70s, the designer was dedicated to a series of trips by Brazilian Northeast, which allowed him a more direct contact with the people and their various forms of handicraft production .

It is during this period that his vi-sit at St. Joseph Market in Recife, earned him the first contact with the “Carne Seca fabric ", and in-dustrial waste products used for cleaning printing machines textile industry and therefore stained and smudged with drained ink.

The fabric was sold at prices far cheap in the markets, hence the name " Dry Meat" - Carne Seca and Império began to get interested printing over them with silkscreen prints and new designed, appro-priating these pieces of industrial waste and giving them not only re-newed artistic character, but also status of work of art.

Vanuza Barbara, inspired by the work of Flavio Império, transfers this technique to her clothes and builds based on their merged mi-ning roots of the swing, color and Brazilian forms. In order to give a feeling to their pieces with strong traces of culture, the designer worked using fabrics that adapt to the local climate, for-ms, colors and based on regional beauties. As technique, drew inspi-ration from the handcrafted quilts made in Minas Gerais and embroi-

led in this region.

Now, more than 10 years later Vanu-za Barbara has created her space in the political body in fashion, inten-sifying the thought of what would be an idea of fashion.

Before Orange jeans were a refe-rence to the fabric of the City street janitors. The same jeans now gray or blue serves as reference for the uniform industry now refurbished. Vanuza Barbara, goes on to re-fra-me and give way to a look of con-temporary fashion, she recreates what we think as a political body that makes the old working uni-form fashionable, it does not mat-ter she doesn’t replicate an exotic look to fashion, but rethinks their uses and modes, and increases the possibility of what could be a ter-rorist chic. *

Proof of this are the fruits already picked. Barbara has the sponsor-ship of ProVest(confection indus-try professionals uniforms), which helped her participated in several exhibitions in the Hall of the Mu-nicipality of Ipatinga Station Me-mory - Qcult conducted by Space Hibridus, Usiminas Cultural Cen-ter, 3rd edition EcoFashion of Pa-raty "Shows Fashion and Sustai-nable Design ", organized by Rio Fashion Institute, 13th Edition of the Minas Trend Preview Autumn /Winter 2014 Upset Cultural Sete Lagoas - MG, among others .

Page 46: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Page 47: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27
Page 48: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

The Zen Art of Larissa NamasteMy first story of 2014 is a young artist from Cascavel Parana, her name Lari Namaste stage name Larissa Trento .

Namaste in Sanskrit, is a greeting much used in India and Nepal by Hindus, Sikhs , Jains and Buddhists. It is accompanied by a gesture made with hands clasped across the chest, fingers up. Literally means " I bow before thee", with reference to the respect among the Gods who dwell within us .

Larissa Trento, Paraná artist in visu-al arts, already drawing on the walls of the house as a child with crayons, began her career in 1999 (the year

she attended classes in painting and drawing with Artist Brandaly Toma-setto ). Always observant of the arts, lived in Italy for 11 months between Au-gust 2004 and July 2005, visited the numerous and splendid Arts Muse-ums of Europe and studied Art His-tory throughout the period, in the Province of Turin. Her Atelier is at her own home where she creates and devotes her passion for oil on canvas, drawings and mandalas .

" LARI Namaste " is a lover of Im-pressionism, spontaneous realism, the colors of nature, culture, life and assiduous practitioner of Quantum Yoga. Artistic Director of the Cultural

Event " SINGLE MOON " (Lua Uni-ca) in which Visual Arts, Music and Poetry are united in The Cascavel City and region, with its 1st edition in novembro/2013 with nine artists .

In Cascavel / Parana-Brasil, Lari Na-maste promotes workshops and Art Classes Painting as volunteer, all with great music and ink, usually for chil-dren. " Children are free, not afraid to express themselves and to be judged on their creations. They simply cre-ate, play freely with the paint, and it is lovely to see. Creativity comes from freedom ... Till today I throw paint on the canvas just to see what hap-pens ..."

Page 51: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Keeping art at home does’t make sense, you must give the return to society. Teaching the world colors and emotions is the way that leads the Namaste House. Without color, the world has no love." Appreciate art promotes enlightenment of the soul ."Lari tells me a bit about your daily life and your work.I lead a Zen life, an apartment in which electronics, by choice, are not very well received ( haven’t watch TV for 7 years, and do not have a microwave). I have a water fountain and incense, dream fil-ters and three cats to harmonize the environment, I am also a vege-

tarian. The Atelier is in the center of the apartment (the heart of the house) and it is my temple where I spend many hours daily. At night I give my practice of yoga and meditation quantum.

I believe in the power of good ac-tion and the influence of positive vibrations . I believe these energies are passed to the ink. " We need to paint with the colors of the wind".I always use oil paint, I like to ex-plore the different textures of this material, which has an incredible versatility. I use a lot of clay also. " I don’t paint without music . It is

as if the painting were a dance, re-quires a soundtrack . " Lari realized that in some works, especially in faces you put some crosses, what does this mean ?When I put "crosses " in my paint-ings(vertical and horizontal stripes)they represent the material life united with the spiritual.

The Cross, a symbol that existed long before any religion, emerged as one of the first man-made sym-bols to represent this union. I like to place this significant symbol in the paintingsmto remind all to take care of their body and soul and to forever stay in balance .

Morreu a mulher, nasceu o mito.

A Carreira.

Leila Diniz Uma mulher a frente do seuTempo

Page 55: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

daquela época, onde a ditadura mi-litar comandava o pais.

Quanto bem isso me faz.

Onde recupero meu juízo, minhas emoções, minhas sensações,

Sem obrigações, somente junto com meu amor,

Sentido nosso calor, sem nenhum temor,

Vivendo essa paixão.

Compartilhando este afeto, ficando bem perto.

Coração aberto.

Pronto pra dar carinho.

Paraíso onde encontro minhas forças no pontilhismo colorido

SPORTS-Futebol By Igor Moura

O resultado :

Page 60: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Initially I would like to introduce myself, I want to show the honor and gratitude to be debuting my column about soccer in essence for such a prestigious magazine and such a select audience. My name is Igor Moura, the sports reporter at News System Journal of Commerce & Communication, located in Recife, and arguably the greatest commu-nication system in the North / Northeast of Brazil. My passion for the sport came from the crib with a professional athlete father, and today I work with what I love and I'll be happy from now on to share it with all read-ers, opinions about the most popular sport in the world . Soccer.

To start, nothing better than to draw a paral-lel between the Brazilian soccer and Soccer in the United States, which in my opinion, is among the three countries in the world where the practice evolves with more noto-riety. The numbers prove this thesis. Growth in average attendance at MLS games, or Ma-jor League Soccer is huge, reaching more than 20,000 people per game, average even higher than the Brazilian Championship. Of course, the technical discrepancy be-tween Brazilian and American clubs is still great, but the organization and aspiration to higher flights of US Soccer is what makes the difference making a parameter with the CBF, the Brazilian Football Confederation.

The highest entity in Brazilian Soccer-CBF is extremelly disorganized, with stagnation due to the success of the Brazilian team throughout history and the changes of re-sults on the pitch in the courts that hap-pened at the end of 2013, the legal battle between Fluminense and Portuguesa, in which Fluminense got away from demotion due to the fact that Portuguesa assigned an irregular athlete, and at the end, winning the Brasileirão championship in a regretful way. Unlikely, the exciting MLS US Season in which Sporting KC deservedly won the title in a frantic final against Real Salt Lake.

Two surprises that showed everyone how the tournament is balanced, since the LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC

of Canada usually invest more in their casts and still fell by the wayside. Just now the American teams must front against Mexi-can rival in ConcaChampions, with such an exaggerated hegemony of Latinos, who, de-spite having really good times, do not usu-ally perform a good role in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Another point on which I favor is the inclu-sion of at least one MLS team in the Liber-tadores Cup, the most important competi-tion of the whole American continent. And there's this fab about a long journey from Brazil to the U.S., or vice versa, meanwhile, the path São Paulo / Mexico City lasts al-most the same as one to Florida, for exam-ple. Besides it would be a great experience for Americans facing teams of higher qual-ity, as the Brazilians, Argentineans, Colom-bians and Uruguaians, instead of teams of El Salvador, Guatemala and Jamaica. Cre-ates a greater cast when players and games have a higher technical level.

Before jumping into the requirements of the 2014 World Cup, I also wanted to highlight this interesting exchange of Brazilian play-ers in the American League. Two prominent players in the last Brazilian Championship will play the current season by MLS teams. Samuel, former Fluminense and immediat-tly deserved of the shirt #9 of the Brazilian team Fred, signed a year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, and Gilberto attack-er who was originally from Pernambuco, but was featured this year in the Portugue-sa, signed with the Canadian Toronto FC with a quite high price. The two will team up with some Brazilians who are already in the United States soccer as Marcos Senna and Rovérsio with the Cosmos, Juninho LA Galaxy and MLS leading scorer last Camilo Sanvezzo, the Vancouver Whitecaps .

About the World Cup which takes place this year in Brazil, we will not focus in the delays of late stages and structure for an event of such magnitude. But in both technical re-quirement in Group A of the Brazilian team, as in Group G of the U.S. team. The group of

Brazil has no mystery. A Selection of medi-ans and maximum good for clashes against Brazil to face Brazil. Coach Luiz Felipe Sco-lari was able to draw the most of every ath-lete, implement a system of effective and psychologically swinging game from each player, something his predecessor Mano Menezes failed to do. Result:undisputed ti-tle in the Confederations Cup and beautiful presentations in pre - Cup friendlies. His ri-vals surely will put a fight for the vacancy in 2nd place in the group. Croatia with some good values as Mandzukic and Modric on an average team, speedy team Mexico still un-sure whether or not they will have their tal-ents playing in Europe, highlighting Chich-arito Hernández and Andrés Guardado and Cameroon betting on phsical strength and two athletes of above average quality : Song, of Barcelona and Eto from the Chelsea .

Already the U.S. Team has a much bigger problem ahead in the very tough Group G. Germany, Portugal and Ghana are one of the strongest opponents that coach Jürgen Klinsmann might expect. After all, Amer-icans will suffer with the heat of Natal, Re-cife and Manau, against Ghana, Portugal and Germany respectively. Despite having a strong team, with Donovan, Altidore, Dempsey and Tim Howard as stars, of the U.S. supporting the group, but Germany has the strongest of the strong teams in the world, Portugal is a good team led by Cris-tiano Ronaldo, best in the world in recent months, and Ghana, which eliminated the Americans themselves in the Final Round of the World Cup in 2010.

As football is played within 4 lines, you can not lower his head due to the difficulty of the group. The U.S. team showed in 2002, a tough group that can leave behind strong opponents, as happened with Poland and Portugal in the World Cup in Asia . The German coach Klinsmann will have to work hard to get stronger to play Brazil, but the hardest that coul ever happen: give Amer-ican soccer team a status of power to fight as equals with any other team in the world. The success now , is just a consequence .

Crew, Montreal Impact, and Toronto FC, along with USL Pro Club Orlando City to complete the eight-team field; Tickets on sale now.

• The Brazilian Fluminense FC U23 team will round out the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic field at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Fluminense FC, one of the top soccer clubs in Brazil, joins the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, Sporting KC, Phila-delphia Union, Columbus Crew, Montre-al Impact and Orlando City soccer clubs in the eight-team field. Fluminense FC is one of the world's le-aders in talent development. The club is not only responsible for selling world soccer stars like Thiago Silva on to Eu-rope to AC Milan, but also developing several currently renowned players such as Marcelo (Real Madrid), Rafael (Man-chester United) and his twin brother Fa-bio (Manchester United). “This is a great addition to the tourna-ment and gives us one of our strongest fields in the five-year history of Pro Soc-cer Classic,’’ said Disney Sports Direc-tor of Sports Development Mike Millay. “ We have always looked to strengthen the tournament year after year and with

our world class facility and event mana-gement staff we feel this event will give the teams a unique training camp expe-rience that hopefully will launch them toward successful seasons. "We are proud to be the first Brazilian team invited to compete in the Walt Dis-ney World Pro Soccer Classic,’’ said Flu-minense President Peter Siemsen. “We see the U.S. as a fast growing market, strategic in our international plans for the club during the next couple years. Our goal is to continue to develop the-se players and we’re looking forward to playing great MLS competition." Fluminense Director of Operations Mar-celo Teixeira added, "The quality of play in the United States is improving each year. It is physically more demanding than in Brazil. It is most similar to the European game, where players have less time on the ball. The opportunity for our younger players to compete at this level is fantastic and compliments the final stage of their development as professionals." The Disney Pro Soccer Classic field will be split into two groups. Group A featu-res Orlando City, Philadelphia, Colum-bus and Toronto. Group B includes New York, Montreal, Sporting KC, and Flu-minense.

Maracanã is the stage of the grand finalIn the golden age of the Brazilian team, which be-tween 1958 and 1970 earned three world titles, writer Nelson Rodrigues coined the term 'the homeland of soccer shoes' to designate the Brazilian fluttering dream, curse and live foot-ball.

The 11 players who take the field with the yellow jersey represent a nation of millions, and as the ball rolls those millions turn into one heart that beats for the national team. It is in football that Brazilians feel more Brazilian, and have the whole world as a sport can be as important and passionate for all of us.

And such passion was put to the test this June, when six Brazilian cities hosted the Copa of the Confeder-ations Cup. Among them Rio de Janeiro, which the new Maracana gots three games, including the cham-pionship final.

Test for the World Cup 2014, the Confederations Cup brought together the champions of the 2010

World Cup, the host na-tion champions and conti-nental championships. Opened in 1950 for the World Cup that year, Ma-racana been in the works for the past two years to get the big events that Rio de Janeiro will host. With reduced total capacity for 78,838 spectators, a multi-purpose arena will be used in the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. The new Maracanã was modernized and today fol-lows all rules of interna-tional security, logistics and sustainability.

The use of solar energy and collect rainwater, reused 292 in bathrooms and 4 locker rooms, are import-ant measures of economy and accountability. Over 360 security cameras main-tains constant surveillance of the stadium, which re-ceived two new ramps, be-yond traditional Bellini and Uerj, and 12 escala-tors and adding elevators, which now total 17. New bars and eateries give more comfort to the pub-lic, which also includes re-tractable chairs divided by colors and produced with certified materials such as PET bottles.

Page 68: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Divided into five levels and in north, south, east and west sectors, Maracana bet on di-visions to facilitate access and location of the fans.

Gate, sector, block, level, row and seat are the subdivisions that will allow fans to find their place with greater safety and comfort. There are still seats for obese and an area reserved for persons with special needs and tactile flooring for the visually impaired.

The 2015 Porsche Macan models will arri-ve at U.S. dealerships in late spring, with pricing set at $49,900 for the Macan S and $72,300 for the Macan Turbo.

Barneys New York Returns to Downtown Manhattan with Flagship Store at Historic Chelsea Location

Barneys New York, the luxury spe-cialty retailer, announced that it will return to its downtown roots on 7th Avenue between 17(th) Street and 16(th) Street with a significant fla-gship slated to open within 2017. An original presence in the Chelsea nei-ghborhood spanning 90 years, the new Barneys New York flagship will occupy a major portion of its former historic store, providing a unique shopping experience currently ab-sent in the downtown market.

“Today’s announcement represents the realization of our long-standing goal of returning to downtown with a sub-stantial location,” said Barneys New York Chief Executive Officer Mark Lee. “The opportunity to revitalize our presence with a state-of-the-art store on the same street where the compa-ny served customers for 75 years only enhances that plan. We believe the ro-bust and growing downtown market is under penetrated in terms of a larger specialty retailer, and we look forward to serving these customers again with what we anticipate will be one of our most important stores.”

The downtown flagship will consist of five floors totaling close to 57,000 square feet. The store will have 200 feet of frontage running along the majority of the Seventh Avenue block and wrap-ping the corner of 16th Street,

providing ample space for its world-renowned win-dow displays. The interior will maintain an aesthetic consistent with the recent renovations of the Madi-son Avenue store, which emphasize a modern, open, gallery-like feel. The Barneys New York downtown store will carry men's and women's designer clothing, shoes, and accessories, and will feature a Foundation level for cosmetics, skincare, and fragrances. Preli-minary plans also include a Freds restaurant on the uppermost retail floor.

From its original opening in 1923, Barneys New York was a consistent and powerful presence, iconic to the downtown New York landscape. Barney Pressman opened his men's store, "Bar-ney's," on Seventh Avenue in Chelsea in 1923. Launched as a discount retai-ler, by the 1970s the store evolved into a New York City lu-xury menswear des-tination, becoming an early champion of European brands.

In 1976, Barneys began selling women's clothing, followed by cosmetics, home wares and gifts. Bar-neys New York expanded into its existing flagship location on Madison Avenue in 1993, and closed the Seventh Avenue location in 1997.

The thriving Madison Avenue flagship will continue to operate as the largest store for the company, which along with the Upper West Side, Soho and Brooklyn locations, provides Barneys New York with an excep-tionally strong presence across New York City.

FILM OPENS EXCLUSIVELY IN IMAX® 3D NATIONWIDE ON FEB. 28th, 2014

Page 97: Aboutus by hotspotorlando #27

Columbia Pictures To Release "Stalingrad", Highest-Grossing Russian Movie Of All Time, In The United States

Columbia Pictures will release Fedor Bondar-chuk's Stalingrad in the United States for a one-week exclusive engagement in IMAX® 3D theatres nationwide on Feb. 28. The 3D World War II drama has recently become the highes-t-grossing Russian movie of all time, earning $66.1 million in its six-week theatre run.

Stalingrad, which is Russia's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film to the Academy Awards®, is also the first Russian movie made completely in 3D and the first-ever Russian film to be released in the IMAX® format.

"We are delighted with the film and the part-nership, and congratulate our friends Fedor Bondarchuk and Alexander Rodnyansky on the record-breaking success of this movie in Russia, followed by a phenomenal performan-ce in China," said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice Pre-sident, IMAX Corp.

Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribu-tion for Sony Pictures, added, "We're thrilled to be bringing Russia's top-grossing movie of the year to US audiences. Stalingrad is not only an incredibly well-told story - it is visu-ally spectacular with an amazing use of 3D, and is perfect for the IMAX format."

Stalingrad is an epic look at the battle that turned the tide of World War II. A band of de-termined Russian soldiers fight to hold a stra-tegic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process

become deeply connected to a Russian wo-man who has been living there. Presented in IMAX® 3D, the scale of the battle contrasts dramatically with the human drama of the Russian soldiers, the few remaining civilians and their invaders into Stalingrad.

"We are proud and pleased to be collaborating with IMAX® and Sony on the release of Sta-lingrad, and very excited to be bringing it to American audiences," Rodnyansky said. "The film has received accolades and has broken box-office records in several countries alrea-dy; we look forward to its welcome in the US, as well."

Stalingrad is directed by Fedor Bondarchuk ("The 9(th) Company"), with a screenplay by Ilya Tilkin and Sergey Snezhkin, based on chapters from the novel Life and Fate by Va-siliy Grossman. The film stars Thomas Krets-chmann ("King Kong," "The Pianist"), Petr Fedorov, Sergey Bondarchuk, Mariya Smolni-kova and Yanina Studilina.

Stalingrad is produced by Alexander Rod-nyansky, Sergey Melkumov, Dmitriy Rudo-vskiy, Anton Zlatopolskiy, with executive producer Nataliya Gorina.

"Academy Award®" is the registered trade-mark & service mark of the Academy of Mo-tion Picture Arts & Sciences.

The Tailor's Son provides us with "The Father's Guide," the twelve steps to help you become the father that every son wants and needs, and the tools to stay sustainably engaged with him.

Why is fathering so important today?

THE FATHER FACTOR:

Data on the consequences of father absence (according to the US Census Bureau) shows that twenty-four mil-lion American children - one out of every three - live in biological-father absent homes, however the number of present, but non- engaged, fathers with their sons and or daughters, pushes that number much higher. This amounts to a vast shadow, a "father Factor" that contrib-utes heavily to most of the social issues facing America today.

The Tailor's Son takes an autobiographical look at the writer's humble beginnings as the middle son of an im-migrant tailor in a small Midwest town. A story about a father and a son that started out well, and ended well, but not before having had a very difficult middle. The Tailor's Son is now available on Amazon http://goo.gl/DGMuj7

The Tailor's Son provides a pathway to the peace of ap-propriating a personal relationship with the best father-ing of all, The Fatherhood of God.
