Dear 3ABN Family,The dirt road was not the most picturesque, and neither was the tangled

brown brush that decorated the roadside. But suddenly, I caught a glimpse of a lone springtime daffodil. All by itself, it had lifted its sunny yellow face to the heavens and seemed to smile at everyone passing by. I stopped to take a closer look, and was amazed at how perfect it was. How did this lone flower bulb end up out here? I wondered. The stout, cheery little flower certainly hadn’t let its surroundings—or even the fact that it was alone—dictate what it did. It was definitely blooming where it was planted!

That immediately reminded me that I must “bloom” wherever God plants me, too. It’s easy to look at our circumstances, or the people and situations that surround us, as excuses to do nothing for God. What if that flower had poked up its little green shoot, looked around, and thought, I’m all by myself by a dirty little road where no one will see me. I’ll just forget about growing and stay buried in my situation...? Instead, it bravely grew and put out its bloom to share with others; and as it did, it gained energy from the sunshine to build a stronger bulb for next year.

On 3ABN, you’ve often heard Mr. Danny Shelton ask, “What is it you have in your hand today?” It’s a powerful question! To me, it means, Don’t let your current situation keep you from doing something for God today, no matter how small. It might be a gift of your time, your talents, or your resources. The possibilities are endless. You have sustained 3ABN through the years by blooming where you’re planted and faithfully supporting us through your prayers and gifts. Because of you, this ministry reaches into our dark world with the light of Jesus Christ. Thank you for helping us to bloom where we are planted, too!

TV production continues despite the pandemic; and God has made it possible to bring our Insight Bible tracts, and 3ABN programming through the new Interless set top box, to new viewers on the South Pacific Islands!

On April 7, 2014, we held the official opening of 3ABN Australia’s studio

facility. And in the years since, God made it possible for us to fully outfit the building, including our video wall in Studio B that made it so much easier to produce new series with new sets.

Since opening our production centre, we’ve recorded over 830 TV programs, numerous music clips, and at least 40 programs on location. When you add the programs we’ve recorded for both the North New South Wales Conference and the Adventist Youth for Christ (AYC), that’s a lot of programs for a small facility with only eight full-time staff!

Then there are the 3ABN Australia Radio programs, which are broadcast throughout Australia, New Zealand, and around the world through Spotify, Sound-cloud, and podcasts. God is certainly using this facility!

Last year, we had to postpone some programs due to COVID-19 restrictions, but we hope to schedule them in again, this year. We are grateful, however, that Pastor Allan Lindsay was able to record a series called, God’s Last Message to the World with us, and it has proved very popular.

We were also blessed to record a virtual Homecoming series with 13 speakers, and our viewers have said they enjoy hearing

and because he watched 3ABN, he’s now a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Then just this morning, I spoke with another faithful viewer who said that a new per-son who had been listening to a 3ABN Australia Radio affiliate station walked into their church last Sabbath! Only in Heaven will we discover how the Lord has blessed, as we meet those who came to know Him through 3ABN—and through each of you who support this ministry! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do for the Lord!

small group Bible study or for sermons in small churches with no regular speaker. The cooking programs can be used to introduce friends to the benefits of vegan cooking, and 3ABN’s excellent children’s content can help the little ones learn about Jesus, too.

The Interless box is small, light, portable, and plugs easily into a TV. It can be set up anywhere when you travel, and is perfect for those who live in an aged care facility and don’t have access to Christian TV, allowing them to watch 3ABN programs any time they choose.

We’re also sending our Insight tracts to the South Pacific missions to be used by local church members to introduce others to Bible truths like, “Why Do Bad Things Happen?” “5 Minutes After Death,” and “Evolved or Designed.” Each tract has a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone, connecting the reader to 3ABN Australia’s website.

If you would like to help us provide these tracts and Interless boxes to church members in the South Pacific, we’d love to have your support. God has opened the doors and provided the material, but we need your help to accomplish what God has laid on our hearts and in our hands.

SOULS FOR GOD’S KINGDOMRecently, a viewer told us that his brother,

who walked away from God many years ago, receives his TV reception through the Australian government’s Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST), a service that provides digital TV and radio to remote areas of the country. 3ABN International is the only Christian channel in their lineup,

these “homegrown Australians” as they go through the chapters of the book, Steps to Christ.

We’re planning to record many more programs this year, and we’re taking a new look at our children’s series, A Day with the King, adding separate Bible study and music programs. We’ll be recording more Focus on God’s Word and People Just Like Us programs, too.

NEW OPPORTUNITIESWe are very excited about the Interless

set top boxes that are now available from 3ABN Australia. These boxes provide thousands of programs on an internal memory, and are perfect for those who cannot receive 3ABN’s satellite signal or live in places where the cost of the Internet is prohibitive. All these programs can be watched on demand, and when an Internet connection is available, they have access to almost every Seventh-day Adventist TV channel available through the built-in mySDAtv app!

We are so grateful that God has opened the way for us to begin sending these set top boxes to viewers in the South Pacific island nations, and we pray they will use this powerful evangelistic tool to prepare many more people for the Second Coming of Jesus.The Interless boxes can be used for

Early Years“I grew up in New York State with

parents who believed in God; yet there was no prayer or reading of the Bible in our home.

“Although my father was Catholic for a short time, my mother was brought up Lutheran and wanted me to go to Sunday school at the Lutheran church. She’d drop me off and pick me up when it was over, and then we’d usually buy some Kaiser bread rolls and butter on the way home and fill in the day with various non-reli-gious things. After a while, I didn’t want to go anymore, so that was the end of my religious training.”

Kyle says that as he was growing up, his parents would often party with their friends on the weekends. “Often, there was alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana around,” he says, “but those weren’t the only bad influences. When I was between 10 and 13 years old, a girl about my age would often visit her grandparents just across the road. We became friends and she was also into alcohol, cigarettes, mari-juana—and boys!”

Working for the LordKyle came to 3ABN Australia as a

volunteer but now is on their full-time staff. With a background in accounting, it’s been interesting to see how God has given him a whole new career, too. As a volunteer, he became a video editor by watching tutorials, and then became their main jib camera operator. He also learned radio production, and is now in charge of 3ABN Australia Radio, recording programs, laying tracks for sound effects and music beds, and scheduling programs for their affiliates. And since God wastes nothing, he even uses his accounting skills by working as their assistant bookkeeper. Elizabeth enjoys serving the Lord and 3ABN Australia’s ministry by working in reception, housekeeping, product sales and packaging, and DVD duplication.

Working together in ministry, Kyle says, “My wife and I have experienced many blessings from God over the years, and it is a privilege to both be working at 3ABN Australia, playing a part in spread-ing the gospel.”

We praise the Lord for Kyle and Eliza-beth’s dedication, and for bringing them to us for such a time as this!

When he was 13, Kyle’s parents divorced, and a short time later, he and his mother moved in with his aunt and uncle, several hours away.

“I can see God’s leading in this move,” Kyle says, “because it took me away from the bad influences of the girl across the road and gave me a father figure again. I also learned a good work ethic from my uncle as I worked with him in construction.”

God at WorkAlthough he was in a better home

environment in the country, Kyle didn’t escape that lifestyle altogether, because his mother and aunt formed a family band and entertained on weekends.

“I’d bought a drum set and learned to play,” Kyle explains. “My mother played keyboard, my aunt played guitar, and their girlfriend played bass guitar. They all sang, too, and called the band Wild Honey. But even then, God was at work, and because I was underage, we couldn’t play at bars and nightclubs. I can only imagine what a bad influence that would have been on me!” he adds.

Then his aunt, who was in her 30s, came down with rheumatoid arthritis, and began looking for an alternative way to deal with her illness, instead of just being treated for the pain. A Seventh-day Adventist neighbor told her about Uchee Pines Lifestyle Center, a ministry estab-lished by Adventist doctors Calvin and Agatha Thrash in Uchee Pines, Alabama, and she decided to visit.

“They used natural remedies and a comprehensive lifestyle approach to get-ting well, and after my aunt visited several times, her rheumatoid arthritis eventually went into remission and she began helping people in her own home.”

Major ChangesDr. Agatha Thrash invited his aunt

many times to study the Bible while she was at Uchee Pines, and she finally agreed; and following some amazing experiences with God, she was baptized and joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

“Naturally, the family band broke up then, since she no longer felt comfortable playing and singing rock-’n’-roll,” Kyle says. “She shared what she’d learned about the Bible with me, and invited me to a Rev-elation Seminar where I learned the most incredible things about Bible prophecy. I studied the Bible with a pastor, and eventu-ally got baptized and joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church, myself.

“At that point, I sold my drum set, bought a guitar, and learned how to play hymns and Scripture songs, instead. Then I took a six-month course at Uchee Pines so I could learn about the things that turned my aunt’s life around. God was leading in this decision, too, because that’s where I met my wife Elizabeth!”

Among our dedicated 3ABN Australia workers is Kyle Serra, who married his Australian wife Elizabeth, and now works for their Production Department.

We asked him to share how he came to the Lord, and how he came to work for 3ABN Australia. Here is his story.

who have discovered the insights God has given them through studying Bible truths with 3ABN. Here are just a few of the many letters and emails we receive every day.

Jeff Doerr is our new 3ABN Planned Giving and Trust Services Director,

and we’re thrilled to have him with us! Jeff and his wife Charletta have lived and farmed around the small village of Vergennes, Illinois, and their solid

family values and work ethic have served them well in raising three fine children. “Our

community instilled hometown values in us, and I’m grateful that I was taught honesty and integrity by example,” he says. “Working with my family’s auction business taught me the value of true friendship, and how to care for my neighbors, too.”

Jeff says that 3ABN’s Planned Giving and Trust Services Department is really the service arm of 3ABN. “When someone calls us, they become a part of our family,” he says. “We listen to them, we help them, we pray with them, and we love them.

“3ABN Planned Giving and Trust Services offers many unique ways to help support 3ABN’s ministry,” Jeff continues. “We have a variety of services that can help reduce tax liability or invest with an attractive rate of interest. For example, our Revocable Cash Trust is designed for those who want to invest in the Lord’s work while earning a favorable monthly or quarterly return on their investment. Once set up, you can add funds in any amount and at any time—and in an emergency, money can also be withdrawn.

1. In a food processor or blender, combine all ingredients and blend approximately one minute until smooth.

2. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze until solid.

3. After the popsicles are frozen, you can easily remove them from the mold by placing the mold in a bowl of hot water for a few seconds.

Yield: 16 popsicles
