A New Year Message from our Pastor Dear Saint Anne Family,

We celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. This celebration marks

not only the beginning of the year, but also points us to the very mark in which we

recognize the importance of the Motherhood of Mary in our journey as children of God,

as we break open a new year.

I want us all to intentionally recall that through the motherhood of Mary, the “Emmanuel”

is born in our midst, thereby bringing the promise of God to a definitive fulfillment. The

incarnation of “Emmanuel” is made possible through the singular response of Mary to

mother the mystery of “God becoming flesh and blood” in our human history.

In celebrating our Solemnity today, I cherish to convey a message that as we begin our

new year, we begin also to journey as a family, a Saint Anne’s family, one and united under

the maternity of Mary.

This is an invitation for all of us that all-together we chart a new landscape of our family

journey, calling to mind the ideals that made Mary worthy to assume the divine

motherhood - her openness, obedience and willingness to surrender to the will of the

Father in heaven. In the pattern and example of life that Mary sets for us, we give our

assent to the Kingship of her Son, Jesus; and from whose kingship our familial kinship

emanates, affirming our adoptive “sonship and daughtership” to the Father. Moving

forward with these ideals, guided by the same Spirit that overshadowed Mary, I truly

believe that as a St. Anne’s Parish, we can only thrive and prosper as a family if we always

remain rooted in the motherhood of Mary, whose “yes” paved a way to the foundation of

the Holy Family (the family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph). This is what and how the

motherliness of Mary has produced in us. This is the divine effect the Spirit- filled

motherhood of Mary has produced in us.

Moreover, moved deeply by the Solemnity we are celebrating today, I’d like us all to

contemplate on advancing and growing, united and one as a family under the maternal

love and care of Mary, rooted in the life of the Holy Trinity. In this same token of being a

family, we embrace the challenge, in the spirit of communion, to nurture each other with

mutual respect and care for one another; with loving service for one another; and to

mutually pray for one another. I would like to end my message on this note of prayer

because I still continue to believe fervently in the time-honored dictum with which we

proverbially profess that “a family that prays together, stays together.” We were, we are

and we will always be St. Anne’s family together. Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Bart

PROMISE FULFILLED Isaiah reminds the people of God that the land shall be restored to their possession, they shall rejoice to see their people return from the bondage of exile, and they shall be a light to the nations. In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of God’s glory to all the world and to all people every-where. Through the fidelity of the people of God, and through God’s fidelity to them, all people shall become God’s children and rejoice in the fulfillment of God’s promise to Israel. Copyright © J. S.
