If you are keeping records in several Excel worksheets and you would like to make them easier to identify, there are a couple of easy

changes you can make.

Instead of the “Sheet 1”... “Sheet 2”... designations that Excel gives you to start with, why not name

each tab something more meaningful?

All you have to do is place your cursor on a tab you want to rename...

double-click the left button on your mouse...

The lettering for Sheet 1 will become highlighted and then type the new name

you want on the tab.

Press “Enter”...

and Excel assigns the new tab name.

Repeat the process for any other tabs you want to rename.

Besides that, you can color-code worksheet tabs to make it easier to remember what’s in each

worksheet. This is especially useful when you have multiple workbooks that have the same

types of worksheets.

For example, you could have one color for “Class Role” information... another color for “Daily Grades”... and another for “Test Scores.”

To change the color of a tab, just place your cursor on that tab...

click the right button on your mouse... or click the right button on your laptop...

On the box of choices that opens up, click “Tab Color.”

That brings up the “Format Tab Color” dialog box. All you have to do is click on the color you

want...

And Excel applies the color to the tab.

To change a color, repeat the process... or... to remove a color...

click on the “No Color” option.

Step-by-Step:

To rename your tabs:- Point to the tab- Left double-click- Type the new tab name- Press “Enter”- Repeat for other tabs

To color-code tabs:- Point to the tab- Right click- Click on “Tab Color”- Click on a color- Click “OK”
