Holiday Specials on WKAR-FM:
A Season of Traditions
For many in your community, the holiday season is one driven by tradition. Whether it be gathering with friends and family, enjoying special treats or carefully prepared meals, spreading goodwill and cheer, and of course holiday shopping!
Amidst the holiday bustle, we hope you will consider Giving Tuesday (#GivingTuesday), a national day of giving centered around the annual holiday shopping season.
As you reflect on the savings gained on “Black Friday” or “Cyber Monday,” we hope you will consider a gift to WKAR on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Your support enriches your community through educational programing, cultural experiences and events designed to Expand Your World.
Whatever your holiday traditions are, we hope you will make WKAR a part of them.

Wishing you a safe and joyous holiday season from your friends at

Rick Steves’ European Christmas (12/10, 9 pm)
Mr. StinkSat., Dec. 28, 9 pmMr. Stink does just that—he stinks! He’s a tramp and just as he and his stinky dog, Duchess, are about to be driven out of town they find refuge in the most unlikely place—the garden shed of a girl named Chloe. Faced with the daunting task of keeping her house guest—who turns out to be not quite what he seems—secret from the colorful cast of townsfolk, Chloe also has to cope with an overbearing mum who is more interested in her own political ambitions than her daughter.
Red Metal: The Copper Country Strike Of 1913Tue., Dec. 17, 8 pmThis documentary examines the epic labor strike that devastated Michigan’s Copper Country in 1913, which haunts the American labor movement to this day. Among the notable elements of that strike was the death of 73 children at a union Christmas party, a tragedy immortalized by Woody Guthrie in his ballad “1913 Massacre,” performed in the film by Steve Earle.

NEW SERIES: Mr. Stink (12/28, 9:00 pm)
