• Terry Dewayne Swofford, of Cassville, pled guilty to three counts of abuse or neglect of a child, tampering with a wit-ness in a felony prosecution and possession of a controlled substance. Swofford received a suspended execution of a seven year incarceration sentence with five years supervised pro-bation.
In August 2016, Swofford hit three children in the home, ages 12, 7 and 4, with a belt until they were bruised and red on their legs. The children were hit for getting up in the night and eating snack food and “not doing what they were supposed to do.”
Then, Swofford sent some-one to turn the water off on the children’s mother and also met with her, saying she needed to meet with his attorney and that she and the children had 72 hours to get out of the house.
Then, in November 2016, Swofford was found unrespon-sive in his home with metham-phetamine and marijuana in his room.
Swofford is to serve proba-tion until April 24, 2017.
• Gary David Taylor, of Cassville, pled guilty to posses-sion of a controlled substance. Taylor was sentenced to five years incarceration with the Department of Corrections.
On April 20, 2016, Taylor was pulled over for not stop-ping at a stop sign. Taylor then dropped items out of the car window, which officers found to be marijuana and metham-phetamine.
• Christopher Shawn Tygart, of Purdy, pled guilty to receiving stolen property. Tygart received a suspended execution of a five year incar-ceration sentence with the Department of Corrections and is to serve probation until April 18, 2022.
Tygart’s charges were from a motorcycle theft in Washburn. A ten year old witness over-heard Tygart saying he found a motorcycle he could steal, then another witness had Tygart ask if she knew anyone who wanted a motorcycle.
