P.O.G. Labs utilize state of the art digital lens processing equipment to produce lenses that are within 1/100th diopter of desired lens power. Using German engineered Satis Loh VFT Orbit milling machines with a cut-to-polish technology, we are able to create the most complex curves on the back surface of any lens material. Also, just because a lens is surfaced digitally does not actually mean the lens design itself is better. An old lens design can be digitally as

well. 4You lenses are based on current design technology and are far superior than older

conventional lens designs.

Basics of Optimization

Traditional Surfacing: Progressive design and add power are pre-molded on the front of the lens blank. Surfacing done to the backside of the lens only and limited to the cutting angles of a fixed curved tool. RX matched only to the nominal lens formula, fixed front base curve and to roughly the 1/8th of a diopter. Lenses created with traditional surfacing techniques are prone to swim, distortion, aberration and are often thicker and heavier. Digital Surfacing: No design is pre-molded, a single vision blank is used so your lenses are truly customized. Surfacing using tools capable of cutting in multiple axis, planes, depths and curvatures. Rx matched to pre-set parameters and to the 1/100th of a diopter. Lenses created using digital surfacing techniques have far less swim, distortion, aberration and are often thinner and lighter than lenses ground in the traditional way.
